UPDATE: Finally received refund check Monday, March 10th. I also received a call from a representative, very courteous, apologetic and professional. We discussed the issue and was very generous. It seems unfortunately, this was their process on refunds. All is well now. So we purchased a Culligan water system including the reverse osmosis. They have a monopoly on the soda ash until recently. So I drive the 20+ minutes to Newburgh to purchase the soda ash. The last time there I paid $113 for two 40 gal tubs. I went to purchase the same. I'm told that due to "gas" prices ONE tub is with tax $169. I insisted with the person there, that was impossible. I asked her to check the system for my last purchase. She confirmed again. Since there is no other place near by where you could purchase the soda ash, I purchased based on what she told me. I get home and compare what I purchased to the empty containers, not the same. I returned 3 days later to return and requested a refund. Well that was 10 Feb, today's date is now 27 Feb. What amazes me is they stated they could not give me a refund back to my card. Is it 2014 or 1914? It would have to be a check. I called this past Monday and the person in billing, advised she will call me back as to the status. Well I just called back again and had no information for me. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager not there at this time but she would have the manager call me as soon as possible. Still waiting.....Take your business elsewhere. Try any other water company. This is terrible customer service, lack or professionalism and lack of interest. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I have a full water treatment system in my home that Culligan installed for two previous owners ago in my house to correct the low PH. The last owners who only lived at the house for a year and a half removed the retention tank in my chemical feed system to make room for a new water heater. I reached out to Culligan to have them reconnect my system and reinstall the one missing component (95% of the system is in place). Initially a salesman came out who then had a technician/installer come out to assess the situation. He said it would be an easy fix and they could order a tank small enough to fit in the crawl space and reconnect the system. I called 3 or 4 days after and they explained the tank was ordered but on back order and could not give me a date when it was expected to arrive. I called 4 days later and was then told they in fact DID NOT order the tank and the managers were still looking for a tank. I have since called every 3-4 days over the past month and the response is that they will send an email to the mangers and they are looking into it. I called again after letting them "look" for another week and they said they will reach out to the managers. 2 days shy of ONE MONTH they called back for the first time and said they had no solution. I was beyond shocked, no solution what so ever and this was THEIR system that THEY installed. The woman in customer service kept saying thank you over and over and then hung up. I called another company that came out two days later to assess and they came back out 2 days after to install the missing part of the system Water is perfect! Took four days from start to finish. Culligan took 2 days shy of a month only tell me they didn't have a solution to reconnect their own system. The frustration in dealing with them is nothing short of laughable. Normally I'm a little annoyed with Culligan but I had senior service tech come fix my sulfer system and he was great answered every question and simplified it for Me and the biggest plus my water doesn't real like rotten eggs anymore read more

We've had Culligan water system in our home for over a decade and they've always provided reliable service. Great service and nice people!

Just ok...expected better customer service on the phone. Water delivery was fine, always on time. Whenever I had an issue or a question, the frustration level at getting an answer seemed to depend on who answered the phone at the time. There was one person in the office who seemed bent on m making customers lives more difficult, don't know why that person is still there. Also, they keep very inaccurate records, they kept telling me that I had rented a water dispenser from them when I didn't, and it took several calls to resolve this. Overall just ok, from now on will just run down to the local store to get water bottles for dispenser and not have to deal with their office. read more

I have had Culligan since I moved in in '79. I use Culligan to regulate my ph and hard water. My current ph feeder is only the 2nd one in 37 years. And it still going with no sign that I need a new one. My water softener install took place in Jan. 2016. It is the third unit since '79. The install was smooth & done correctly the first time. The salesman was John Meyer and he too added value by explaining all the details to me and helped me select the proper size device. I am happy with these people and would recommend 'em read more

I have Culligan's water system for almost seven years and it has been a absolutely night mare! I don't even know where to start! When we first got the system we were told this would fix our water for good. No more heavy iron... Our water would be soft.. Instead our water smells like a bad fish. The smell is so bad it makes me want to throw up when I take a shower. My dishes have been ruined from the harsh water! I'am always having to buy new ones! It is staining everything very badly! My tub ..toilet bowl .. Sink .. Stained! I have to use harsh chemicals just to clean it! God knows what is happening to my pipes! To wash your kids in this smelly hard water is the worst! My white clothes have turn yellow and orange and my black clothes have faded fast! My hair .. Is so hard and is not manageable! I need to make sure I use plenty of conditioner! Culligan has no clue what to do!! The service men come here pretty much every week! For the pass year! This is the worst yet with them! Every time they come they say we fixed it you should have no problems. It seems fine for one week! A week later the same thing! I call them again and once again another man comes here says he fixed it. This has been going on for years!! Where they say they found the problem and they fixed it! Only one time my water worked for one year with no problems! I thought they must have finally fixed it for good! No they did not! And that was years ago! The worst one yet the man who just came here did not even fix it for a week! He said nothing is wrong I need more salt!! Which I knew was not right! Because it's never the salt! I told him are you sure cause my water has been bad for two weeks and I had plenty of salt! He said I see nothing wrong I looked at everything. You need salt! He left and it still was stinky and staining and he said it will get better in a day! And of course it did not! It's so bad! We payed six thousand something for this system! We have gotten the tanks changed twice! We pay a service fee every month for them! If we could we would look for a new water system! Oh and the manager (Brain wager) never gets on the phone!! He has other people pass on massages! And when you ask for him they say will he told me to tell you this! And he will tell you the same thing! This is my first review I have ever even written! That is how bad they are! I want to warn people! Stay away! Look for another water system! My husband and I hope we will have city water some day. Or able to get rid of culligan. Culligan of Newburgh charged my elderly parents over $10,000 for $2,400 worth of equipment that they "serviced" twice in 14 years. In 2005 my parents signed up to lease a Culligan brand water softening system at a price of $57.00/month which increased yearly and is now over $60.00/month. The real cost of identical equipment is about $2400 but Culligan puts their name plate on the tanks and calls it's value $3000. Regardless, my parents were sold a "system" that included the water softener on lease, and a whole house filter that they had to purchase for $350. They were also charged $265 for installation. They already had a softener system, so the installation consisted or swapping the tanks and about 11" of copper pipe. In the 14 years they've had the equipment, Culligan performed 2 services which they even note in their paperwork as ANNUAL services. Once in 2007 and once in 2019. Everything you read online states that softener systems should be serviced and cleaned yearly. And again....the 2 times Culligan serviced the system in 14 years, it even stated on the invoice that it was an "Annual" service. Management claims that they send out "postcard" reminders. This is an all out lie. The only correspondence my parents received from Culligan was to solicit equipment upgrades or salt purchases. I called Culligan corporate and spoke to Scott. I was told that Culligan water softener leases are supposed to include salt delivery. Brian, the manager at Culigan of Newburgh told me that Culligan dealers are independently owned and basically make their own rules, so no salt. He also told me that softener systems dont need maintenance. And finally, Brian told me that people spend alot of money on leasing all the time such as cars and houses. There's just one problem with that Brian. Houses and cars are leased because #1, a lease payment is always lower than a purchase payment, and #2, you lease because you can't afford to purchase. A person that rents a house, or leases a car never comes close to reaching the purchase price which is why they rent or lease. Culligan of Newburgh charged my parents $10,000 for $2,400 worth of equipment that they never maintained, upgraded or serviced. For what they have been charged over the past 14 years, they could have purchased a water softener system 5 times over. When I took Brian's explanations back to Culligan Corp, I got a new story from Scott, the same customer service rep I spoke with originally. This time, Scott changed his story and said that yes, the local dealers make their own rules and set their own prices. All they have to do is use the Culligan brand equipment. Avoid Culligan of Newburgh and be ready for a cute response from manager, Brian on this thread. He'll have explanations and answers for everything I've said here. Just like his sales staff, he's a fast talker with an answer for everything. My advice is to do your own research, get the facts and always get a 2nd and even a 3rd opinion. There is better, less expensive equipment out there and companies that actually care enough about their customers to regularly service the equipment you pay your hard earned money for. Also.....ask why Culligan of Newburgh here on Yelp is now named Culligan of the Hudson Valley and have also been under the name Culligan Water Conditioning with a "C" rating from the Better Business Bureau. All 3 business names, exact same address: 131 Little Britain Rd, Newburgh. My parents have sold their house and once ready to move out, will have the equipment removed and contract cancelled. The process of selling the house is the only reason I found out about this situation. My parents have had only their Social Security and one small retirement for income. So for Culligan of Newburgh to take from them $750 every year and $10,000 over the course of 14 years is absolutely disgusting. Shame on them. read more

The purchase of products with Culligan is the only part that went smooth. The sales rep was very nice and helpful. We have spent over $11K and paid cash for several products. After a discrepancy regarding the purchase of a second protection plan Culligan has refused to follow through with the protection plan I purchased and paid in full. I paid in full to get the salt delivery service and they have not come for the last two delivery dates. We disagreed over the $460 protection plan for a different product so they refused to acknowledge the money I have spent and the protection plan I paid for. I have paid half of the second protection plan and still they have not come to my house. They ignore my requests. I am going to file a report with consumer affairs. They should not consider a warranty plan void especially if it is paid in full. That is not how life works and it is not fair. I paid in full for everything I bought, the second protection plan was the exception due to the discrepancy in the amounts. I love the water, but this is not how people should be treated after spending so much money. Even if I didn't you shouldn't treat people that way. I have been using Culligan of Newburgh for over a year. We purchased the softener, the pump, and sulfur cleaner which have all been really great. The service team is wonderful, and the salesman John is exceptionally knowledgeable and courteous. We will continue to use them for many years to come. 12 years ago the service was great, not anymore. We have been dealing with a sulfur smell since October 2016. Culligan service people came numerous times and had us replace a carbon filter, our water pressure tank and still had the problem. They have left in less than 10 minutes, we've paid them and then the smell is back within a week. When I call for them to come back I have to wait 3 weeks. Only when I said I will go elsewhere did they say they could send someone tomorrow. They really stink,like my water. The service people who have come to our house clearly can't troubleshoot. I bought an entire new system to deal with the sulfur smell, it involves no chlorine and no huge water tanks. It's a 3 year old technology, an aeration filter system using oxygen instead of harmful chemicals, like bleach. Quackenbush Water Systems installed this system. No more smell and no more dealing with Culligan. Also when I asked for my money back for the useless service call, the manager said no and told me the general manager, Brian Warg, would call me. Not surprised I never received a call. I would never recommend a company that does not stand by their work! read more

Total Disaster of a Company........ I first Dealt with them as a New Homeowner on 5/18/2015.. They Performed what is called New Homeowner and Annual Service... I paid $314.23 OK No harm NO Foul.... Fast Forward to the last few days.. I Began Noticing a Braided Hose With a Small hole spraying my wall every time my Holding Tank called for Water... I called Service and said Hole, and HOSE.. Should they know what system is in my Home? YES, They were HERE a Few Months ago... Well, Guess what? Today, Culligan Man comes and Guess what?? "NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU MAN" "I HAVE NO HOSE" The Nice Guy then tells me how to shut down the Unit so I can Buy my Own Hose and Home Depot... I tried but the Problem is, I cannot Remove the Old Hose... Nice Huh... I then called Culligan around 2 pm today, I was told the man is still on the road and they will read what he put on his ticket when he gets back... OK I called after 5:30 and was NOW TOLD this is an after Hour Answering Service and She can send an after hours tech for an extra charge... I have been a customer with Culligan of Newburgh for 10 years and have been very patient with regard to service issues. But NO MORE!! The only time I here from them is when they need my credit card number to pay for their service contract. I have a water softening system and a stenner feeder that distributes soda ash due to a low PH. Among many issue over the years, I have had service where they have replaced the filter and not adjusted the feeder which caused us to have no water. The PH level has never been balanced correctly causing corrosion of our pipes/aqua green water in all of our sinks/baths and even green hair! Despite years of asking them to correctly balance the water, not just soften the water, which would include follow up visits to see if the correct mixture of soda ash was being used....they do not follow up. They just dump and run. They asked for another chance to make it right this past summer after we wanted to cancel our contract then. They apparently sent someone out in July ...who knows what they did, my hair is worse and the water feels terrible. Considering that they were tetering on the brink of losing a customer, you would think they would follow up, but they didn't. Calling them to schedule a service call is virtually impossible because they will tell you that they are not in your area on the days you have off. I would think a Friday or Saturday even a week or two in advance would be reasonable. We even have a Culligan closer to us in Connecticut, but they are not allowed to service us because we are not in their region. The long and the short of it is..IF YOU WOULD LIKE REASONABLE,ACCURATE,CONVENIENT service, avoid the frustration and GO ELSEWHERE. read more
