We went in the morning around 10am and the park was not too busy maybe around 5 kids. It wouldn't matter though the park is pretty big and spaced out with fencing. So it is pretty easy to keep up with your child and not feel over crowded.. Plus as an adorable little bonus they do have a swing that is a wheelchair swing for children who are handicapped Just on the off-chance you go on the offseason it can be a little noisy during clean up but I always see that as a good sign because they're keeping the park clean and not many beautiful places are kept as nice as this one was being kept.. The trail has photo opportunities for kids and workout equipment along the way! Also tons of rest stops picnic tables and just beautiful views.. it also looks like there is a stage that could potentially be for music and you can rent gazebos with picnic tables under it.

After going to a movie my husband and I picked up a pizza and set out to find Sportsman Lake. Heading north on 31 we found the sign and turned left. After passing the fairgrounds we headed into the park area. We found an empty picnic table and devoured our pizza. The small lake is beautiful with an elegant white pier. There were a lot of people but the park is spacious so we were still able to enjoy a peaceful meal by the water. There were several pavillions which are perfect for family gatherings, a playground for the children, and even a little train but I'm not sure of the operating hours. Several families were feeding the ducks and geese and couples were taking a stroll on the walking path. I definitely plan to come back the next time we are looking for a peaceful place to relax.

This course has the "potential" to be a fantastic course with significant rolling terrain, lakes, streams, a few elevated tee boxes, both some narrow and wide fairways to challenge all levels. The issues I saw today I believe others have reported as well. Tee boxes in pretty rough shape, very little grass to hit from, I'd say most with ~50% grass and sand. The greens while challenging with some tough slopes and undulations are also a little bumpy / rough. To me the greens appear to need significantly more watering and wouldn't hurt to small hole aerate, clean, re-sand, overseed and roll to work out the bumpiness. This course has the potential to be a really nice challenging course to play with some focus on the tee boxes and greens. Fairways are generally good with a few rough spots here and there. Currently for the price (wkday $30 w/ cart for 18), you can't complain. With improvements to tee boxes and greens would easily justify higher price (~$50) to play. But no matter what you will enjoy the scenery while playing the course. Enjoy!

Noticing the price hike for kids though made me feel kinda sorry for those parents wanting to take multiples. It could get expensive real quick. Admission includes a pumpkin and all the fun activities and selfies you want with the various props set up. It also includes a hayride out to the pumpkin field where you choose the one that's coming home with you. Theres a little store onsite, along with food/snack trucks. Since I'm watching what I eat, I did good and didn't purchase anything. I missed the petting zoo on this trip, which just means I will return next year!

He was challenged from the beginning and even wanted to quit. After a few days he embraced the difficulty and started to perform at a level he had never envisioned. Throughout physical, mental, and emotional challenges he worked with his battle buddies to excel and complete the program with grit, perseverance, and resilience. He has praised the camp for his ability to learn, believe in himself, and do hard things never imagined before and has expressed interest in retuning next year.

For any parents wondering my thoughts about this camp I would highly recommend reading this. I respect that everyone is entitled to share their experience, but I also think it's important people hear from those of us who've actually spent a lot of time at Extreme Military Challenge. I've attended for about ten weeks across multiple years, including winter and summer cycles, and my experience has been completely different from what's described over there. Sure, this program isn't easy. It's built to be physically and mentally challenging, but challenging doesn't automatically mean unsafe. In all my time there, I never saw campers being denied medical care, all the sexual assault claims get taken very seriously, but having a group of 30 to 40 teenagers sleeping in the same room utilizing the same latrine somethings gonna happen that is not the camp's fault and as soon as the camp is notified about these situations, they take it extremely serious. The amount of kids that have gotten sent home because of making stupid decisions and being irresponsible is actually crazy. I never saw staff telling kids to keep secrets from parents, the silly chants? You mean Cadences? Yes those are to keep everybody in step while marching not for entertainment for the parents, and I never witnessed the kind of culture that's being portrayed in this facebook group. It was tough, yes, but it was also structured, and focused on building discipline and confidence. I'm not saying every single person will have the exact same experience I did, but serious accusations should be supported with evidence and handled by proper authorities, not assumed as fact because a post says so. This camp is designed for personal growth through challenge. Some people thrive in that environment, and some decide it's not for them. And that's okay, but not liking a program or struggling with it isn't proof of systemic abuse. This camp isn't just about discipline, perseverance, motivation, and physical activity. It is also about the fun and pride and joy you feel when you accomplish something that you didn't think you could accomplish before with some of the best people you will ever meet. I'm not speaking for the camp, I'm speaking as someone who lived the experience over time. For me, it built resilience, confidence, and the best friendships i have. I just want people considering it to see more than one side and to make an informed decision. Personally, this is one of my favorite camps I've ever gone to and met some of the greatest people and mentors in my life.
