Even w riding I got about 8k steps in. (But I also purposefully will take my "Sunday bag" and walk to my hike and let my seated partner drive to theirs) I'm a newbie golfer (2yrs) but have intentionally tried out various courses and am learning quite a bit about them and how "I" personally rate them: so this is my own personal newbie experience Much like my home course in Aberdeen Maryland: It's flat. Pretty wide open. If you hit halfway decent you shouldn't lose balls to "off the fairway"...unless you really are way way way off the fairway Few hazards...but it's best to go with folk who know where said hazards are..there's one man-made ravine that crossed the fairway on a par 5 that isn't noticeable from the tee box. From the red tees, water was only a hazard a couple of times right off the box The greens were in great shape, and the fairways fine (imo) It runs along the Tn River, so pretty quiet and peaceful and not amongst houses. There's a walking path between "it" and the river so bikers and walkers are seen, but not a disturbance. Everyone there were really nice and…read moreaccommodating, especially when I had my tee time wrong and was running a bit late - thinking I was getting there early and could enjoy a nice warmup and some putts. It was a BEAUTIFUL Autumn day which made the course even more enjoyable! Two of our foursome had never been there and we both commented how much we liked it and look forward to returning. The greens and fairways were in great shape for the most part (if they had sand on the golf carts, I think the fairways would be in better shape). It's a friendly course, that is pretty wide open, has strategically placed sand traps (really deep ones by the way) and some tricky water features. The greens themselves have some really cool twists and turns, too, making the putting piece interesting and fun. I did not have time to check out the pro shop too thoroughly or the "grill." I did see a couple of guys enjoying a beer on the back, covered deck. Looking forward to many more fun rounds at PMGC!

There was only one other customer in the store besides me. I was in town to caddie the Korn Ferry Tour event at The Ledges and needed a pair of black shorts. There were 3 employees behind the counter and rather than having 1 employee come assist me, they all stayed behind the counter and helped the "white" customer. I will still shop at Edwin Watts, just not this one. I recommend if you're a person of color, go somewhere else in Huntsville.

It's been there for…read moreat least a couple of decades since my step daughter played soccer there when she was in high school. We visited the All Kids Park which is onsite at the Sportsplex last Sunday which was really nice, too. Back to Sportsplex. I did not enter the building itself; however from the exterior it was really modern looking and nice! I think it houses the swimming pool(s) which I am told are really nice, too! I explored the numerous batting cages trying to figure out how they worked because they aren't the typical ones where you put $ in and a machine delivers the pitch to you - they were *not* automated. Hmmmm. How the heck do they work? They were in nice shape, though. Also, their tennis courts were in excellent shape! Lighted, wind screens/covered changeover areas and nets, all in great shape, with excellent signage and no pits/ruts on the hard surfaced courts. They have 2 baseball fields; 3 baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields; an 18 hold disc golf course (which I did not see), I did see a plain ole wide open field where parents and children were just throwing balls and playing. Ball fields and soccer fields are available for rent by the public and for tournaments. Their website indicates they have 2 sub facilities: an Athens Greenway Trail and Athens Sportsplex Track; which I didn't see. Per the website the Athens Sportsplex Track is a 1.2 mile track that connects the Sportsplex to Lowes on Hwy. 72 in Athens, it is "mostly shaded" and appears to have a really cool looking covered bridge, too.

With the exception of holes 1 and 2 the course weaves its way through towering pines, making it pretty challenging. There's virtually no elevation change, yet the course is spread out enough to make every hole unique. This course is really popular now. Can get pretty crowded around peak hours, but everyone is pretty friendly.
