The park is maintained by the Rotary club but the trails are paved and easy to follow as well. There are also some benches scattered throughout the park, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery. I love that this park is so well-connected to nature, so many different species of trees and you can see the creek everywhere. If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and get in touch with nature, I highly recommend checking it out. It's a hidden gem that you won't want to miss! The park is also very dog-friendly!!

A few years back there was flooding from a massive storm, there is a steel plate about 6 feet up on the inside of the bridge just to the right when you inter the bridge, it shows the height of the water table that engulfed the bridge. We missed the street that takes you to the park twice, when we finally found the place it had ample parking available. There is a playground which was packed on the Sunday afternoon that we visited. The restrooms are located next to the playground and were relatively clean. The park offers plenty of shade and was well maintained. There was a small outdoor gym where I saw 1 person utilizing. I saw people playing catch in the open field and several people were walking their dogs. You can walk, run or bike ride on the trail. There is a very peaceful area that over looks the river where we took pictures. We were able to get in several miles and more than my required steps for the day. I look forward to coming back to Amerson River Park.

For…read morefifty years this land was home to Chester and Rose Evelyn Minor, their children, and one grandchild (me!). Chester and his two sons built the brick split-level themselves. Rose maintained a large garden many of those years, and the yard was studded with fruit-trees. The house survived two floods that destroyed the contents of the basement, but the flood of 1994 swamped the house in 5' of muddy water... high enough to flood the upper split story in a foot of water. The damage was too extensive and the property was sold to the government so that it could become this lovely little park. Enjoy!

They also have a small country store with supplies if you forget something if you rent the cabins and shirts and souvenirs to buy as well. The park itself is down the winding road to the bottom of the mountain there is not designated parking just a gravel road. They have trails to walk and a park and also newly built gazebos to rent or reserve for parties and celebrations. They do have restrooms there as well. You can swim in the river but the current can be strong and there are no lifeguards. If you want a extremely peaceful place to visit take a chance and go here.

My go to place is North Peach Park where I go most of my time to walk around to clear my head. It's a nice decent park to walk around if you don't mind kids/adults playing football in the field, pets running around. Best time to go is first thing in the morning when they open the gates or mid lunch time is best to beat the crowd. If you want to take your lunch/dinner maybe breakfast to an area away from busy places this park is nice with plenty of parking around the park and trash can bins to throw away your trash.

I came back to enjoy this beautiful park because it held such great memories for me. It is Labor Day weekend and there were 2 other cars in the parking lot. I left because I didn't want to have to pay a hefty fine if the park ranger came around. It's a shame really. Charge a day use fee, but allow others to enjoy the park as well without having to pay such an exorbitant fee.

My BF grew up in the area and says this new park/lake has all of the fish that was once housed in Line Creek Parks lake. Long story short it sounds like the two lakes got combined and is now a bigger better lake known as Lake McIntosh. I believe the park opened in July 2013. The entrance that we used is at the end if TDK Blvd and I believe the complex was called Southpark something :-) . It's a 1-2 minutes from the PTC Airport. If you blink you will miss it so be on the lookout. Turn off Joel Cowan Pkwy onto TDK Blvd and get your $10 ready! There is a paved walking trail, restrooms, a gazebo, benches along the trail, a playground for the kids and much more! You can dock your boats here too. Fishing requires a GA Fishing permit. There is a $10 park entrance fee if you are NOT a resident of Fayette County. You can bring your pets as long as they remain leashed and of course you should make sure to clean up after Fido or Kitty! This is PTC so you have the option of jumping in one of the family Golf Carts (Apparently you can rent them as well) or your Automobile to get there. There is parking there for both. Unfortunately, we took the golf cart because I wanted the experience of riding around PTC in a golf cart. Of course, it was a scorcher that day. Now, my Father told me often times that you should learn something new every day of your life. On this day,I learned to ride around PTC in the damn truck when it's 95 + degrees outside! I would have given a 5 Star but I need proof that there are fish up in the spot first and there is NO SWIMMING ALLOWED! ***We visited again in mid December 2015 and were happy to see that the fish are finally ready. We will be back to see how well we do once our boat is done with repairs.

We asked them about parking (no fee) and were returning there for lunch later anyway. We then hiked up Rt 190 about 50 yards and found the trail crossing. We opted to do the one on the left - I think it was Bentley? The one on the right was the Pine Mountain trail. The trail was a nice hike through the woods but never more than 200 yards from a main road. We followed it to a junction and turned right so as to begin the loop back. Since it had taken longer than planned already, we hiked back along Route 190 instead of another trail. In total, it was about 2.1 miles and took us from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.! The trail was hilly with a lot of rocks so the pace was slow. I enjoyed the hike, though.

FDR State Park near Warm Springs, Georgia…read more Very nice state park with lots of nearby attractions to visit including Calloway Gardens and FDR's Little Whitehouse. The small town of Warm Springs had several little shops that were nice to walk through, even found some unique Christmas gifts. The highlight of downtown Warm Springs was the Bullock House Restaurant for their country cooking lunch buffet, a great bargain at $12.50 for the good food they serve. The park has several campsite areas, I believe were numbered as Campgrounds 1 through 5. The check-in building in a large CCC flagstone structure with a nice camp shop, but don't miss the scenic overlook out behind the building. Most rv camp sites we rode by were very wooded with good shade and seemed to be level. Each area has its own bathhouse. The one in our area was clean and offered two family restroom/shower room combinations in addition to the standard women's' and men's sides. Campsites in Campground 1 with numbers starting in the 100's are on or near a small lake. They did have some paddle boats but I didn't see any being rented so they could have been discontinued for the Winter. We did see several people fishing from the lakeshore. A Georgia license is required for fishing and the camp shop had a "Bait for Sale" sign. The CCC built Liberty Bell flagstone pool was also drained and closed for the season. A handful of the sites in Campground 1 are directly in the lake and some of those have full hookups. We were lucky to be in one of those lakefront full hookup sites. The park has several hiking trails but bikes are not allowed on them. It is a short drive to Dowdell's Knob, an overlook that FDR used to enjoy visiting and picnicing at when he was in the area. The foliage was still colorful but past its peak when we visited in mid-November. We enjoyed our stay in one of the best campsites we have had in a state park this year.
