After losing over 200 pounds, I was finally ready to remove my excess skin and close this chapter of my journey. I went into surgery feeling hopeful and was told I'd be receiving an extended thigh lift -- one that would properly address the severity of my loose skin down to my knees. Unfortunately, that is not what I received. My results were uneven, incomplete, and left me with deformities and no definition in my thighs. The emotional and physical toll has been devastating, made worse when I was told I'd need to pay again for a revision to fix work that should have been done correctly the first time. Since then, I've consulted with five other board-certified plastic surgeons in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Dr. Al Aly, who literally wrote the textbook chapters on massive weight loss body contouring. Every single one confirmed my results are not consistent with a properly executed MWL thigh lift and identified major technical errors. In my opinion, Dr. Liland is not qualified to operate on massive weight loss patients, despite advertising these procedures. Patients like me -- who've worked hard to lose hundreds of pounds -- deserve surgeons with true MWL expertise, not someone using them to gain experience. I wish someone had been this transparent before my surgery. If you've gone through massive weight loss, please research your surgeon carefully and don't be swayed by social media photos or marketing claims. A staff member, who I strongly suspect had little to no experience, administered tear trough filler after talking me into it. The results were immediately wrong. I asked for it to be dissolved right away. What followed was weeks of runaround. They had me return every two weeks, and with each visit their attitude worsened, especially once I declined their repeated pressure to purchase additional services. I came in wanting a small, natural result. They saw a revenue opportunity. After multiple attempts, they were unable to fully dissolve the filler. I am now seeking treatment from a licensed dermatologist to fix what they could not. The practice is run by someone with no medical credentials, not a physician, not a nurse practitioner, not an aesthetician with any verifiable expertise. The medical authority here appears to be a nurse who seemed undertrained for the procedures being performed. A medical spa performing injectables should be overseen by a licensed physician on site. This one is not. If something goes wrong, and it did for me, there is no qualified person there to fix it. Avoid this place. The consequences can be permanent.

However, within a week, I developed large, red, and warm welts, 2-3 inches wide. When I contacted the office, they told me they didn't know what it was--maybe a reaction to my skin stretching or breakouts. As the condition worsened, they continued to express uncertainty and advised me to see my regular doctor. At the time, I was young and unaware of what a staph infection was. Unfortunately, that's what I had, and it became a 10-year battle. The infection spread to my neck, face, back, arms, and legs. I never mentioned this in reviews, as I was focused on dealing with the issue and didn't want to add more negativity. Looking back, I regret not warning others. Staph infections are isolating--I often couldn't leave the house. Because the infection was not treated promptly, it became extremely difficult to manage. I was put on multiple antibiotics over the years and had to use special washes and make countless doctor visits. Just when it seemed under control, it would flare up again, often appearing on my breasts. Mistakes happen, but as a surgeon, recognizing infection is critical. The large welts I had post-surgery should have been treated as a possible infection, and I should have been given antibiotics right away. Now, I'm left with deep scars that I am only now beginning to address. At one point, I had finger-sized holes on my body. It was both disgusting and humiliating. As I search for a new surgeon, I realize how important it is to share experiences like this. Dr. Stagnone's work was aesthetically beautiful, but the infection cost me years of my life and much of my confidence.
