Culver's is suppose to have the best fast food fish sandwich so I figured I would give it a try. The Macedonia Culver's is located in the shopping plaza at the intersection of E. Aurora Road and Route 8; unless you are heading South on Route 8, you have to go all the way around the plaza. Culver's has a nice building with plenty of parking, a drive through and a patio out front. Inside the restaurant is clean and fresh looking decorated in blue with ash colored wood; it almost looks Scandinavian. I was greeted when I came in and had great service. The menu has plenty of items informed by Culver's Wisconsin origins including butterburgers, fried cheese curds and frozen custard. On the seafood side they offer both fish and fried shrimp. I ordered the fish sandwhich, an order of onion rings and a dish of frozen custard. After paying you get a number for your table and the food is made fresh to order. The food was brought out after a couple of minutes and looked great. My first impression of the fish sandwich was that it was a bit small for the $8 price, but once I started eating I realized that there actually was a good sized fillet of fish since it was so thick. The fish was cod, perfectly fried in a crisp batter shell, served on a nice bun with shredded lettuce, shredded cheese and some tarter sauce. The fish was great, moist and flaky with a very mild flavor, the cheese and tarter sauce were underwhelming, with the lettuce adding a nice bit of crispness. Although I enjoyed the sandwich it did have tendency to start falling apart. The onion rings were very good, fresh rings of onions nicely fried in a light batter resulting in a nice ratio of onion to shell. They were crispy and delicious plus the portion was nicely sized without being overly large. I got a dish of the frozen custard with a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of the flavor of the day which was vanilla custard with snickers pieces. Culver's gives you the option to get your dessert at the end of the meal; they make the dish and then keep it in a cooler until you ask for it, very smart. The custard was smooth and creamy, not over sweet. The chocolate had a good rich chocolate flavor, the flavor of the day was packed with snickers which contrasted nicely with the vanilla custard. Culver's serves up high quality fast food with a number of unique food offerings. The restaurant is very clean, the people working there seemed to be having a good time. Food is made to order which is appreciated. While I thought the fish sandwich was good the price over $8 seemed a bit expensive; I thought the prices for the onion rings and frozen custard were reasonable. If you are looking for some good fast food Culver's is well worth a try. read more

Wow! Never been here before and I love close by. Always went to the "usual" places but the kids wanted something different this time around. Pro: Food is AMAZING, Staff is friendly Cons: our order was late for an online pickup. We downloaded the app and it gave us 25% off the first order. Food is fresh and tastes great. Fries....nothing compares to how great this fries are. The cheese curds were not our favorite. However the fried pickles are a great change of pace to the usual fries. Culver sauce is pretty big. We ended up wasting a bit of the sauces since each person ordered their own. Finally the root beer was also very great. However the sweet tea was very watered down. I'm 0 for 2 when it comes to having a good meal at Culver's, and it's compounded when the staff is clearly having a bad day (forgetting items, verbally arguing in plain sight). The mushroom and Swiss burger was so greasy the bottom bun was soaked through, and amazingly unseasoned. The cheese curds are fine, but not without adding some sauce (2 of which they forgot). I ordered the bacon deluxe single burger and fries and I chose a ice cream blended drink. I chose salted caramel and brownie bites as my mix ins. Everything was delicious. I asked for a small concrete mixer they charged me for a medium. I asked for a six pack of shrimp they charged me for 10. We came for the famous burgers and were not disappointed. They tasted great and all the ingredients were fresh. The root beer was exceptionally good. I was not expecting that and it was amazing. The service is friendly. When our food was ready they brought it to the table. The outside of the building is very nice. The inside looks a little dated but seems to be new - nothing seemed worn. First time trying Culver's will definitely be my last as well. Looked great on the commercials but damn, this was disappointing. I ordered a double sourdough melt meal along with a peanut butter milkshake and I got a vanilla milkshake with one scoop of peanut butter that wasn't even mixed into the shake. The sandwich was almost $10 and wasn't even as big as the palm of my hand. Not to mention, it didn't even have 2 patties on the thing. Meal didn't come with any straws either. My first drive through experience at any Culver's location but after spending a few hours at the casino down the road and realizing I hadn't eaten I decided to whip through and grab a combo meal while driving back to my hotel. At this hour of the night they weren't really busy and with only one car in front of me I figured I'd be in and out of here in a flash. I guess this is more of a hybrid fast food joint so executing orders takes a little longer than one of the old top three burger places. The attendant was very pleasant and instructed me to pull forward to the second window after ordering , I was again greeted and paid expecting my food - here's where the difference comes in instead of giving me my food she handed me my drink and stuck a "post-it" note on my side mirror and asked me to pull forward. I figured I had a few minutes so I tuned into 100.7 FM WMMS since I didn't opt in for Sirus when I rented this car and listened to some rock tunes - about mid way through AC/DC's "Hells Bells" the girl arrived with my food and swiped the post-it note from my mirror and I was on my way - well like most I couldn't resist reaching into the bag and grabbing a few of the hot and crispy crinkle fries for the drive back to my hotel, unfortunately they forgot to give me any napkins and being the seats were leather and I didn't want to wipe my hands on my clothes I ended up with a somewhat greasy steering wheel, fortunately it was a rental and someone else's problem (actually I wiped it down before going up to my room) but this would cost them at least one star, the soggy burger would cost them a second one. However, when you walk in and the first thing that you notice is the strong "open trench" smell coming from the bathrooms, it really makes it hard to try to enjoy a meal. They're called "butter burgers"...I mean how can you go wrong? We keep this as a once in awhile thing but they taste so good. In my opinion, better than other fat foods places 2. They have GLUTEN FREE BUNS!! I mean come on, no other fast food place I can think of has GF buns. They are warmed and individually wrapped and sooooo good. It really makes the experience. (And off You're GF, don't you just feel included? 3. The employees here are super nice. They will actually have a real conversation with you while you wait (a short time) for your food to come out. Super good custard creations! Tried a peanut butter with fruit sundae and yummy........surprisingly delicious! The custard was creamy and tasted very fresh. I have eaten here consistently over the last few years and I have to say I've never really had a bad experience, poor service, or poor quality food. Every meal ordered is good and accurate. I get the butter burger the most. I've tried chicken and fish as well. All are good but the butter burger deluxe is my favorite. Crinkle fries are ok. The other options like cheese curds are good too. And root beer is decent. The line is usually long but they go thru it fast. The big complaint is that they keep the dining room freezing cold even in the winter. You can almost see your breath. It's so cold. I don't think they want you eating in there so they keep the temp too cold. Plenty of parking, staff nice, and the prices are average. Custard is good too. Lots of good flavors! Oh, man. As life-long Culver's fanatics, we were pumped to see this one open close to home. Out of the probably 20+ Culver's locations we have been to, hubby and I both agree that this one is the worst. It is not a 1-star because staff was friendly and our order was (technically)correct. However, nothing was really "right" with our experience, either. We arrived right after they opened for the day and the bathrooms were very dirty and we were there for an hour and never saw one staff member clearing/cleaning tables and no management speaking with tables about their experience (the norm at every other location). Fries and curds were overcooked, lukewarm and stale like they'd been sitting around too long. I always like the thinner burgers at Culver's but ours today was so thin that there were see-through spots and it was more like a meat crisp than a burger patty. My tomato slice was thicker than the patty. Our kids really loved their grilled cheese and green beans but also wouldn't eat the fries. That's telling when 2 and 6-year-olds leave fries untouched. The last issue was with our concrete custard treats, which as the name suggests, are supposed to be very thick. They set them down and they were like watery soup. Hubby politely asked if they could redo them and the manager was very kind and immediately accommodating. However, he did not ensure that they were immediately made. We waited another 15 minutes (with no line at the counter) and these two basic, identical concretes were not made. Spoke with the manager again, the new ones were brought out and again...soup. *sigh* Will be watching reviews to see if their food prep and freshness improve before we will consider returning. read more

I'm not going to lie. I really like Culver's. It's a guilty pleasure. The butter burgers are delicious and everything is made to order. This necessitates a little bit of a wait in your car, typically about 10 minutes. It's worth it. A tiny bit pricier than a visit to the typical fast food burger joint, but you get what you pay for. Culver's is IMO the best burger chain around for several reasons. The burgers come any way you want it, custom crafted, made to order and fast. Their crinkle fries are hot, crisp and delicious, and onion rings too. McDonalds doesn't sell onion rings. They sell diet root beer that doesn't taste like diet and is frothy and delicious. They serve custard in a variety of ways, see menu. They bring your order to you while you are filling your drinks and looking for a seat. The restaurants are consistently clean. The staff is usually spot on and sharp-you don't have to deal with lazy, belligerent, sloppy employees like some of the other burger chains hire. You can eat outside in one of their covered tables. We were so glad to see a Culver's here in Ohio! We loved it when we were in Missouri and never thought they would open one here. It's an above average burger and fries place that also makes their own ice cream daily. They also have cheese curds, which are similar to mozzarella sticks, but better. Everything is a step up from your usual burger joint. The quality of the ingredients is what makes the difference. No matter what you try, it will be great food. The service is friendly and they even bring your food to the table after a very short wait. All of the overdone, flat steak burgers all are too dry for me to eat. I've has roux en y surgery and cannot drink and eat at the same time. I got the butter burger hoping it had enough butter or juices to eat. It didn't. The cheese curds are similar to Sheetz. My son's got the bacon deluxe and we're not thrilled either. My partner and I were in the area and decided to check this place out. We did the drive-thru and kept our order pretty basic. I got a single cheeseburger, fries and strawberry shake. He got a double Swiss burger. The line to order went fairly quick but we ended up having to pull into a parking spot to wait for our food. There were probably 3 cars ahead of the drive-thru line and 2 off to the side like us. It took a little bit for our food to come but everything was obviously freshly made. Neither of us were super impressed with the burgers. I probably could have gotten a double. The shake and fries were fantastic! I would go back just for those.
