My girlfriend described it as a "poor man's Costco" and it is sort of like that. It's a restaurant supply/food service company that so happens to have an "open to the public" retail operation as well. You'll find meats, seafood (including live lobster), produce, GIANT containers of mustard, ketchup, hot sauce, olive oil, you name it. They've also got plants/flowers for sale outside in the front. Inside also contains bread, milk, cheese, really all of the "essentials." In a pinch they do sell single rolls of toilet paper like you'll find in a hotel, and paper towels. They have some kitchen utensils if you're in need. Hell, I picked up a bottle of windshield washer fluid here too. Added bonus: they carry nuns of new skete cheesecake! If you aren't familiar with this, google it. It's made by local nuns and is delicious, puts Sysco to shame. $36 for a 4 lb cake. If they don't carry something here that you need, you can find it the dollar general or CVS that's right down the street. Despite not being anywhere near a full service grocery store, Green Mountain Food Service's store is a godsend for the depressed town of Whitehall. Remember to bring cash, or if you're someone who pays by check (how many people do that anymore?) you're covered. Same with EBT, that is accepted. GMFS does NOT accept credit or debit cards. There is an ATM and a restroom on site. Hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday-Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday.

They sell (lots of) chips, soda, beer, news, (lots of) candy, fried chicken wings, nuggets, sandwiches and hard drinks. Broadway market is a tough kind of news and beer spot, tough meaning rough around the outside with not that much of food variety inside. There is ice for sale outside and a pretty large walk-in beer cooler. That said, I also found some pretty good deals on beer and seltzers for near-nothing. The staff kept asking each customer "did you order this pizza?" - "did you order this pizza?" - "did you order this pizza? - "did you order this pizza?" - that was funny. A pizza that got ordered by a mysterious caller. Staff has no interest to talk to a new customer, all they do is kiss rear to a bunch of greasy oil-heads installing crap in a nearby house.
