I had a blast! It was my first time ever kayaking and I enjoyed every second of it. Connor and Mercede were very encouraging, helpful and accommodating. The tide was low and we had to trek up to the falls and they helped us wade through the water. The entire crew was professional and safe. You will get a work out in, I was in a double kayak and it was hard. We got some advice from Connor how to make it work. What a great experience! I will definitely rent from them again - and hope to try some of their other trips. My friends and I went kayaking at Long Hunter, and it was so easy and beautiful. The kayaks, paddles, and life jackets were clean and in great condition. We booked online and the staff was there to meet us, show us to parking right by the put in, and get us on the water. And the staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. I called with questions and they were professional and answered everything quickly (even fixed my problem with a coupon code over the phone). And Jordan who met us was wonderful. Our excursion got canceled last minute due to Sir Elton John's third farewell performance. We had the sunset excursion booked to enjoy the Nashville skyline. Kayak Company was restricted from accessing Cumberland Park to pick us up. Hoped we could have been accommodated by getting picked up a little further down stream like Cumberland River Greenway area, but it seemed there was more interest in finding a way to say no than a yes. Only option offered was to go the following morning or not at all. We enjoyed our morning excursion but we had to checkout of our hotel early for our final day in Nash. We are two locals who decided to book a reservation online for the Nashville Skyline Paddle after seeing the groups out. We rented a double kayak, which was nicer because we were able to talk as we paddled. The kayaks are "sit on top" and are spacious. If you bring belongings with or a phone, I recommend bringing a drawstring bag or belt bag that you are ok with getting wet. We stayed dry mostly the entire time because they help you launch and dock the kayaks. They have a very seamless process in place and they shuttle you back to your car. read more

We booked the Nashville Skyline trip online for a last-minute family trip away. It was everything my soul needed! It was a relaxing experience from the initial welcome speech and launch to the assisted landing on shore and shuttle drop off to Shelby Park. I loved the scenery and appreciated the waves we were able to enjoy (thanks to the occasional boat that passed safely by our kayaks). The bridge and skyline made it quite easy to judge how far along the river we were at all times. The staff members were extremely friendly, enthusiastic, informative, and professional. We weren't familiar with the city, but they were happy to answer our additional questions about the nearby area. I would HIGHLY recommend this company!!! It was a wonderful experience. Super easy to book online- last minute kayak trip. Load in to load out took about 2 hours and the yak itself was about an hour. So much fun- beautiful view. The guys got the yaks ready for us and pulled us out of the water, and then shuttled us back to Shelby Park to our vehicles. Kayaked the new Burgess falls route last weekend with three friends - it was MAGICAL!!! I knew we were going to a waterfall, but had NO idea what we were in for! It was absolutely stunning and all of us (who had been chatting and laughing throughout the whole 45 minute kayak to the falls) completely fell silent and stared at it for a good 10 minutes before deciding to get out and swim, which was equally magical. Felt like we were in Hawaii! Our guide, Brendan, was so kind and fun and we all really enjoyed him. Both staff members we met were super cool! 10/10 would recommend:) Absolutely worth it, and the beautiful drive up from Nashville only adds to the experiential day trip!:) read more

What a great way to spend the late afternoon. We booked it the morning of and were able to get the 4pm tour. This worked out great since it was such a hot day and by 4pm there was a breeze and had cooled off a bit. Also it was not a crowded tour and was a total of only 4 of us. Julian was our guide and should be requested. He was super nice, attractive and friendly. While the 4 of us went to the restroom prior to our trip he started the van to cool it off. We took a less than 10 minute drive to an area I had never been to before. Julian explained how to use our paddles, creatures we might see along the way, the giving back program this company does and pointed out the landmarks we would pass and what to expect. He also let us know the best way to avoid being splashed by boaters. The waterways were busy since it was Labor Day. He also offers to keep our valuables in the van and to refill our water bottles before our trip. What a relaxing, enjoyable and peaceful time we had. We do wish that we had paddled slower since it seemed to end much quicker than we wanted it to. Again this was such an enjoyable, peaceful time that we never wanted it to end. The 4pm slot will not get you any award winning photos of the skyline since the sun was brutal but that's a minor thing. TIP:bring a water bottle with you! Public restrooms are available prior to leaving. Limited free parking available at the end of the Victory street. Put your cell phones in ziplock bag with a floater key fob in case it goes overboard. Absolutely would look into doing the other routes the next time I come back to town. read more

This was my first official visit to Nashville. I was visiting a friend, and stayed with her. However, a group of us wanted to check out some spots downtown. The 21c Museum (and hotel) is a must. I cannot speak to the accommodations, but we certainly fell in love with the contemporary art museum. It is a must-see, with 3 levels of inspiring and thought-provoking exhibits. They had everything from digital to canvas. I highly recommend making a stop here if you have an appreciation for good art. Even if you don't, guaranteed you will find something you like. read more

Great place! Our reservation was at 12:30 and we arrived earlier than expected and they allowed us to begin earlier. Check in was quick and easy. Gave our names and were instructed to grab paddles and life vests. Went down to the river and one of the guides instructed us on how to paddle properly and all the other rules/guidelines. On the morning of our scheduled kayak, it started to storm, but received a phone call from the company telling us that they would be able to reschedule us for later in the day when it would clear up or another day. We decided on kayaking later in the day and the weather turned out to be perfect - sun out and blue skies. Love that they were quick to respond on the morning of our reservation and gave us a few options for rescheduling. Upon arrival at the pick up site, we were greeted by the incredibly friendly staff. They drove us down to the launch site and helped us on our way with clear instructions for the hour. We enjoyed a calm ride towards the Nashville skyline. We loved that the route took us right back to downtown giving us the perfect view. Staff helped us out of kayaks and offered water when we finished our ride. Such a smooth and great experience with Cumberland and we'll be back for more kayaking! read more

Making a reservation was super easy- I just did it online in advance, saving me the suspense of not finding an available time slot on the day of. For around $30 a person, this is a great deal and a wonderful way to spend a morning/afternoon in Nashville! We chose the Skyline Paddle option for the Saturday Noon route and opted for single kayaks. Our start was a little rocky, as there was a last minute change of where to meet (due to the Kenny Chesney concert). We got a text from the company about 10 minutes before the route started. Most people were late in meeting up, including myself. We found out later it was due to miscommunication between the staff, and everyone in our group appeared to be really understanding. It just meant a little bit of extra waiting around to get started. The course is easily a little over an hour, which honestly is plenty of time in the summertime with the Nashville heat. It was easy as well- we were riding with the current and got to see lots of boats, turtles and even spotted a blue heron! You end the course with a gorgeous view of the Nashville skyline- perfect for a photo opp. Overall, we had a great morning kayaking and had a great time! Would def. do it again! read more

It was easy in and out and we got to spend a magnificent day paddling the Cumberland River near the Nashville Skyline. The Kayaks are right on the water at the park under the walking bridge. We filled out the forms at the tent setup near the water, and that was a little tedious, because we did it on the clerk's phone. Seems that some kind of ipad or station would be better, so I'd advise doing it ahead of time to save a minor annoyance, however, it's pretty easy and we paid $35 per person for an hour. We got the life vests, paddles, and some minor instruction and away we went. I'd recommend a sunny and still day because any kind of wind could make it challenging. It's a really free, and fun feeling to be out there on your own and able to paddle where you want and as you wish. If you're not an experienced paddler, 1 hour is more than enough time to have fun without exhausting yourself. We got lucky and enjoyed a gorgeous day of exploring the river and the riverbanks. The staff was very helpful and friendly and got us checked in and into the water with ease. read more

Easy online booking & clear instructions on where to meet them. The guys running it the day we went (Ryan and Thomas) were extremely nice and courteous, easy loading in and out of the river (& the guys are at both ends helping you!). They are very knowledgeable and give you the full low-down before they sent you out. And as a bonus, Ryan even took our picture in the kayaks in front of the Nashville skyline before we ended the trip and emailed us the pictures! Suchhhhh a pretty view of the Nashville skyline! You meet at Nissan stadium and then take a bus to the backside of the river. The tour is not guided but they give you directions before you enter in the water. The route is about an hour long - 2/3 of the way are just with greenery and trees but the ending view totally makes up for it! After reading some of the reviews we did not have the same experience. There were two young men who dropped us off gave the instructions and told us where we'd be picked up but that was about it. Not very engaging and definitely not anything special. I may be spoiled, but being from Michigan where we have clean rivers and lakes the Cumberland was disgusting! There is a sewage plant up the river and several signs warning about petroleum, raw sewage, etc. along the way. It was stinky and I prayed that I would not tip over the whole way. Not worth the money!! Save it for a clean river. read more

Please note that there are a couple of different routes. I was slightly disappointed that I did not experience the "beautiful Nashville skyline" as described in Lena H's review (because we took the Opryland to Shelby route. Nevertheless, it was a nice trip. However, I would caution those with no previous kayak experience about using this company. First, the trip we took was rather long (over 2 hours and against the wind for at least part of the way on the day we went). Also, there was absolutely no instruction provided by the 2 (perfectly nice) young men who were in charge. It's not clear if they were not properly oriented to the job and/or whether they knew anything about kayaking (we observed one using a canoe rowing technique). Of course, kayaking is not too complicated, but some basic instruction is in order, particularly for first timers (e.g., how to hold the paddle, how to row). Fortunately, we had been several times before and had some basic instruction. read more
