We didn't have a problem with them at all. We have canoed on the Harpeth River before, but with a different company, and this time we tried Foggy Bottom. They made reservations very easy. Our group that we went with booked first, and we pretty much booked last minute, but got right in. All we had to do was call and reserve a canoe with our name and number. Being the holidays (Labor Day weekend) they got us right in. There are different miles you can do, and we chose the 5 mile ride. It wasn't a bad ride at all. We got dropped off probably around 11 is what I'm guessing, and finished it around 3:00 with 3 breaks. There are bathrooms onsite, and the parking wasn't too bad. We got there around 10:00 am, and it was pretty packed. It was getting full so we just drove to the back. The customer service was good. I have no complaints on the customer service. We pretty much showed up, and checked in at the register. The only complaint I have is that we couldn't pay right when we checked in until all of our group showed up. So everyone in your group has to show up before you can pay. It wasn't a big issue, but I think the lines would've went faster if we could just pay right when we check in. Pretty much you just grab your life jackets or bring your own, and grab a paddle, get on the shuttle, and they shuttle you to drop off. Once dropped off, you just canoe, and you will know when to get picked up because there's a guy out waiting for you. You will see the guy under the bridge. I liked their canoes a lot. The last company that we booked with, their canoe leaked on us lol and we didn't know until we were already down the river and had to deal with pulling over and tipping the boat over to empty the water. No complaints about foggy bottom canoes. They don't leak lol. And we had a big group, no one had a problem with their canoes. Just make sure you bring a lot of water. It will definitely get hot out there!

What an incredible experience!! I can't imagine a more gorgeous place to experience kayaking or canoeing! All the staff are very nice as well. Next time I'm back in Tennessee I'm coming back!

Couldn't ask for much more then a couple hours floating down the river. Kids and I have done it twice now and look forward to doing it again. Down one star because the price matches a premium product while some of their stuff needs a little TLC and getting long in the tooth. Staff is friendly and helpful and experience is still good. Just wish some of it was slightly better taken care of.

One of the places to have a Sunday funday. Foggy bottom canoeing reservation not needed for a small group. If you want a kayak you will need to make reservation during peak seasons. I had no problems getting a canoe for walk up. They had plenty. We did the 2 hour canoeing instead of the 4 hours since it was after 12. Their last drop off is 2:30 pm. So the morning time usually much more busier waiting in line to check in. They sell snacks and hot dogs for cheap if your looking to eat before the adventure. And bathrooms are available. Parking was tight. Once we check in we got a card and handed it off to one of the guys loading the trailer. We picked out our paddle and life jackets. Then we were drop of the beginning point and our stop was right under the first bridge. Then you will just walk over to your car once done. Staffs were meh...they weren't rude just not much interaction with customer services.

Your staff was very accommodating (Eli and the two young men that helped take our four kayaks out of the river on Sunday). This experience was a highlight of my visit to Nashville to visit a local friend.

Part of getting to know a new place is getting out and seeing it. We have been making an effort to get out and see Nashville since moving here a year ago, stopping a all the "usual" tourist traps. So we were quite happy when we stumbled across Foggy Bottom Canoe rentals. We called ahead and a very friendly lady gave us the excellent advice to show up early. Taking that advice we show up just before they opened and got a canoe. The friendly staff helped us get it in the water and after a little practice we set off down the river. Since we were early it felt like we had the river all to ourselves. The views were amazing and there were several places to stop and picnic, which we will certainly be considering on our next visit. This trip was an amazing example of just how beautiful this state is. The river water level should be considered when taking this trip as we ran into several places where we got stuck, but it didn't take much to free the canoe and continue our adventure. The price was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the experience will be a memory we will share for many years to come !!!

Lots of nice areas to pull off and take a break at along this route.

We had a terrific experience canoeing the Harpeth River. Small family owned business, everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. We went at noon on a Saturday and it they were extremely busy. We waited about 20 mins to be shuttles to the drop off and then had to stand in line another 15-20 before we could get in the water which is the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. Would give them more like a 4.75. I know that atleast two other kayaking companies drop off at that dock which leads to severe congestion, but still, it is what it is. Still, we've used other rental companies around the Davidson County area and Soggy Bottom is easily at the top of the list. Would highly recommend.

There are also waivers on line that must be filled out. Staff was nice and helpful. They drive you and the tubes to a spot a little down river and off you go. Tubing is always good fun, but our experience suffered a bit due to 1). The heat, and 2). The sloooow moving current. We're talkin' almost stagnant in a few spots. We did beach ourselves a few times and took a cooling swim, which was nice. Neither of the two negatives were the fault of Broken Paddles, obviously. Speaking of which, they do give you a paddle which was a must for us. We'd probably still be out on the river. We didn't go for it (we should have), but they have coolers and cooler tubes for rent for "beverages." You text or call them when you reach the "first bridge." They pick you up at their get out spot a little farther down, after the "second bridge." We ended up getting out of the tubes and wading the last 1/4 mile. They have waterproof pelican boxes you can rent or phone bags for sale. You can leave your car keys with them. Pretty sure we'd go with the kayaks next time.

The location was really easy to find, once we arrived we checked in and were offered some general information about what to do and the location of changing rooms/restrooms. We were also given instructions about the route we would be floating, the vast collection of mussels we may see, and information about other wildlife we may come across, and safteg information. The launch is a quick drive from the base location. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They got us all set up and sent us on our way. The water was shallow, but still had some nice current in places. The Duck River was extremely peaceful, and not over crowded (the spacing out between groups from Higher Pursuits helped with that greatly). Getting picked up at the end, and knowing where to stop was also made to be a breeze. Higher Pursuits runs things like a well oiled machine and really has a great system going! Between the ease of everything, the peaceful kayaking location, and the friendly customer service I could not have asked for a better experience!

Lots of shade, but we stayed on the water quite a while and ended up out in the heat and sun of midday. We did not all prepare for this and are paying for that. Overall, it was a lovely float with some areas with added challenge (rocks, submerged trees, shallows) to navigate. There are quite a few rocky shore areas where you can pull up the kayaks for a break or snack. Speaking of, we brought water, but failed to bring any food. It would have been nice to have something even though we planned to eat after. The exit from the river is a bit rough, but the young men helping were wonderful. We got 3 single kayaks, and 3 upgraded single kayaks. We definitely felt the upgrade was worth it for stability, more room for heavy people, adjustable footrests, and adjustable back rest. We had a great time and definitely intend to go back again.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!…read more This was hands down the most disorganized kayak rental experience I've ever had. Our reservation was for 12:00 PM. We were running about 10 minutes behind, so we called ahead, let them know, and even paid before arriving. After getting there, we waited nearly 30 minutes for transportation to the drop-off point. The woman at the office was nice and apologized, so we brushed it off. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. When we arrived at the river, everything fell apart. An older gentleman and two teenagers were unloading kayaks, but nobody gave any instructions or directed customers. We stood waiting for another 15+ minutes while they unloaded equipment and chatted. When we finally asked what was going on, they realized they didn't even have enough kayaks or paddles for our group. We were told more kayaks were "already on the way." Meanwhile, we watched other customers launch themselves because nobody was helping them get into the water. There was another group with a 12:30 reservation sitting there with kayaks available, but instead of getting us on the river, we continued waiting. At around 1:35 PM, I called the office and was told it would be another 30-45 minutes. By then we were beyond frustrated. A manager eventually got involved, but instead of apologizing, she seemed irritated that we were upset. After more waiting and more promises that kayaks were "almost there," transportation finally returned around 2:15 PM with additional kayaks. Remember, our reservation was for noon. We had already spent over two hours waiting. The best part of the day was actually being on the river. The river itself was enjoyable, and once we finally got in the water, we had a good time. Then came the ending. When we reached the take-out point, three teenagers were checking people in. One of them stopped another group and immediately started asking for names so he could charge them a $75 late fee. Their reservation had also been at noon, and they were delayed because of issues caused by the company, not because they were late. The teenager literally told them that wasn't his problem. Then they started trying to charge our group the same $75 late fee. Absolutely not. After multiple customers complained and the manager was called, they finally admitted we didn't owe anything. The entire situation could have been avoided with basic organization, communication, and customer service. We had 4 adults, 2 older kids, and 2 younger kids and spent nearly $400. For that kind of money, customers shouldn't spend over two hours waiting because a company failed to have enough kayaks available for scheduled reservations. The river was nice. The staff experience was terrible. I've floated many rivers over the years and can honestly say this was the worst-run kayak rental operation I've ever dealt with.

We made reservations for 9:30 AM on a Saturday morning as we wanted to get ahead of the crowds on the river and we did just that! The folks at Canoe Music City were all super chill, friendly and helpful from the window to the water. Most of us rented canoes, while a few of us rented the kayaks. I will say the ones who rented the kayaks had a better time, as the canoes were a bit smaller than I am used to and the balance was easy to throw off. But, they got us to and from and down the river as needed, so we weren't too upset! They have differing lengths you can cruise, we chose the 5 mile. The price for a canoe is $55 while the Kayak will run you $45 each. Just as all the other spots, they load you up at the cabin, drive you a few miles to the drop point and then pick you up at the end point. It is a pretty seamless process, just make sure someone has their phone as you do have to call to be picked up at the end. Not that Music City Canoe has anything to do with the river itself, but there are several spots along the trek that allows you and your group to pull off and relax whether it be at the gorgeous waterfall or the small beach. We spent a total of 4.5 hours lazily cruising down the river and we loved every minute of it! Oh, and for those who are wondering...you can bring your dogs and booze is allowed on the river. And you can bring your own kayak/canoe, but they do charge you to transport it to and from with your group. Overall, great way to spend a weekend day!
