I just had a delivery from Cummin Landscape Supply, and let me tell you, it was a total disaster. I've seen some bad logistics--the worst--but this was a complete and total failure. Very unprofessional! The Bag Blunder First of all, I look at the driveway, and what do I see? Ripped bulk bags. Very dishonest. Very weak! The Contamination Crisis And it gets worse, believe me. The covers on these bags--the "protection"--they were stuck. They didn't work! They let in all the rain. Total contamination. * The Quality: You want clean soil, you want the best mulch, but you get a polluted disaster. It's a rigged bag! * The Delivery: No phone call. Zero. They just show up whenever they want. No respect for my time! I like people who call, okay? These people, they just drop and run. Very low energy. My Final Verdict They don't know how to package, they don't know how to communicate, and they certainly don't know how to win. read more

We have ordered three times from Cummins, and every time, they have delivered quality soil in a timely manner. They communicate via email to let you know when delivery is scheduled, and my delivery has always taken less than a week to arrive. If the schedule changes, they are quick to call and update you. While communication like this used to be common practice, sadly, it is not anymore. That's why I'm making a big deal of it here. I love these guys. I've gotten landscape stuff like flagstones, pavers, and gravel there on several occasions. The guys on the yard know what they are doing and give good advice. Especially Justin. I don't know if he's a partner in the business, but he should be. He certainly acts like he cares that much about the business and the customers. They are all good at explaining things to people like me, who is figuring it out as I go. The materials arrive as promised and look good. The most recent interaction was this week, when I bought a bunch of gravel. Hubs and I were going to DIY a gravel pit to hold a hot tub. I needed 2 kinds of gravel and they had it. When I told Justin what we were doing he suggested we rent a small bobcat. The price was reasonable, and I had been dreading all the digging, so I was easily convinced. THANK GOODNESS WE DID. Holy wow, that bobcat made all the difference in the world for our project. Justin taught us to use it and it arrived in good order and full of fuel. It was a terrific experience all around. Delivered and picked up promptly. Justin even came and admired our hard work and said we did a good job (ha!). Only once in my dealings with them has anything gone wrong. A delivery was late, we later figured out due to a lost paper. But cummins made it right and never gave me any of that "well it must be your fault somehow" attitude you so often get these days. These guys are a class act. Now I just need to figure out how I can incorporate one of those cool boulders they have. I'd love one of those Fred Flintstone rocks in my landscape. read more

Competitive pricing, couldn't be any more convenient and the staff is helpful. A little gem on Memorial drive in Cabbagetown/Taco Town/Grant Park/Reynoldstown. It's one of the few places on Memorial that doesn't derive its income from tires, rims or insanely good food. The selection isn't what you'd find in the burbs but the convenience makes up for it. And honestly, unless you're a PRO this place has anything you'd need for your intown landscaping needs. At Christmas they sell trees which is nice because that trudge up to Pike's and obligatory ride home with a pine tree strapped to the top isn't as fun as it sounds. They have all of the usual suspects - mulch in fun popular colors like black and brown, path stones of all sizes and flagstones of varying sizes and heft. They'll deliver but your best bet is to borrow a truck from a friend to save the $45 (I'm 1/2 mile away so that seemed silly). There are different guys here every time I go but I always get great service and chatted up some guy about religion (which I never do) because his regular job is as a minister. Memorial Drive in this part of town is dotted with a little of everything and CLS makes the Memorial stew taste just right! read more

Honestly, I thought this was a dump when I first drove by it. And I guess in a way it is because all they sell is stack-stone, mulch, pine needles, Christmas Trees, etc. It's just a lot filled with landscape supply and not of the garden-type variety. I'm guessing it's geared toward contractors and like. Nevertheless, after several visits I'm happy to say that I completely endorse Cummin and love that they are in my neighborhood. Getting past the exterior, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. And their supply is fantastic. I have been there a couple of times, the first time I was disappointed at the amount of mulch they charged for. The buckets they filled with were all short and when they were done filling my trailer, it was much less than I would get at other places yet they charge more money. I complained, and told them I would be back a second time and they said they would make it right. I came back a second time to a meager amount of mulch again and an obstinate manager who would not want to do anything to make up for the last time, or be gracious the second time. I feel ripped off both times even though I gave them a second chance. The manager confirmed it by being very unfair. read more

This place is great. Decided to do a patio project and I knew I wanted mini slate chips. They are right down the road so it was my first choice. Their prices are good. I called to make a delivery request and purchase crusher run and slate chips. The woman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly helpful and took my order and scheduled a delivery for a couple days later, working around my schedule on when I would be home. I had special instructions as to how to reach my drive way and she said that they would call so I could show them. They had a full schedule that day but said they would come at some point during the day working around their deliveries which I had no problem with because I would be home all day. The driver, Larry, arrived for the 1st of 2 loads. The truck was large so I was worried about it backing up the skinny and long drive way. His driving skills were great in the dump truck. He backed all the way down and navigated it so it could be dumped exactly where it was needed! It was not an easy location to reach but Larry was definitely helpful and skilled with the large truck. Stone selection is always excellent. Wonderful customer service, fast delivery. The only downside is that they don't have toppers for the stackstone after your build your wall. I'd rather get all of the stone from one place for consistency instead of shopping st different stores. read more
