With treatment my gums improved - however the area around 2 rear molar teeth had been infected for long enough that the underlying bone had eroded and the 2 teeth were very loose. Dr. Patla urged the 2 molars be removed. The gum surgery healed beautifully, my smile looks good, and if desired dental implants can be placed there in the future. The pockets of infection that had been throughout the gums prior to consulting Dr. Patla have been totally gone for five years. I was taught to do good maintenance and visit Dr. Patla twice a year to keep my teeth and gums healthy... it is so worth it! And her office takes most insurances.

When I decided to have a tooth extracted in the upper back area of my mouth; they presented me with a multi step treatment plan (many thousands of dollars) at which point I communicated that I had no intent to get implants etc because the gap would not be visible. Come surgery day, my surgeon went ahead and did a bone graft anyway. At the end of my follow up appointment a couple weeks later, the office manager pulled me aside and demanded over $800 additional for the bone graft. I communicated that I did not agree to that, had communicated my intentions earlier, and had only scheduled the appointment for the extraction. She quickly offered me a discount on the next step of the process (which hints to me that she knew they over reached) and I instead stated I should be discounted for the bone graft that I didn't ask for. She didn't budge, so I just paid up and found a new dentist immediately. Going to the dentist is stressful enough, the office shouldn't cause their patients undue financial strain on top of it. I was up front that I wanted extraction only and they performed extra work anyway. You can shake me down for the $800 since it's advisable to get a bone graft anyway, but it should be at a time of my choosing, not yours. If SDA reads this - a little communication and not making assumptions goes a long way!

On my last visit, Dr. Sekhon filled a small cavity, and it was a very painless and quick procedure. I'm not a huge fan of going to the dentist to begin with, but she made the experience easy. I've had two cavities filled there now and I've had one tooth pulled, and I haven't had any issues. The dental assistants are all really nice and caring and I've never had an issue getting an appointment. I've recently moved out of the area and will certainly miss this group if I have to switch dentists.
