I'm not a huge cupcake person, but I have always enjoyed Georgetown cupcakes whenever I was in DC. After trying this place out, I've realized I'm DEFINITELY a cupcake gal. They are incredible. Cakes are super moist & the frosting is perfectly sweetened (not too sweet at all). & the ratio of cupcake to frosting is spot on. I absolutely love the red velvet with cream cheese frosting & get it every time. Their chocolate flavors are wonderful too & have a great depth of cocoa flavor. They have a base set of flavors & also a fun, weekly, rotating one. The dubai chocolate cupcake is one of our favorite fun ones we have tried. This was my first visit to this location. We happen to find it on the way home using none other than Google maps. This bakery is super cute, there is seating available to enjoy the drinks and cupcakes. I bought a red velvet and chocolate cupcake. They were very moist and delicious. They also freeze well. There were other items besides cupcakes, but I just stuck with the showstopper--cupcakes! The staff was friendly and helpful with describing some of the items and flavors. There is parking available on the side of the building. Would I return? Maybe...only because it was on the way home and too far away. read more

I was out running errands and was looking for a coffee. Well cupcakes also ended up on the menu. This place is really cute. Small shop, really friendly staff. The debate was between one of the weekly specials or the regulars. Weekly specials won out. I got a chocolate salted caramel cupcake and a s'mores cupcake to go. On the spot, I also got a small hot mocha. The coffee was good. A pretty standard mocha, leaning towards the sweeter side (not good or bad for that, just my take.) We had the cupcakes at home later that evening. They were quite delicious. The s'mores had a frosting with a light marshmallow flavor and what I think was a bit of a vanilla/graham cake. I didn't pick up on any chocolate. The chocolate salted caramel had a nice buttercream frosting, lightly salted and a bit of caramel in the center of the chocolate cake. Both cakes were quite moist and I felt the frostings weren't overly sweet. I'm not usually one to care much for frosting and I ate all of it. I'd say the cupcake size is sort of a smaller to medium. We split the two between two of us and it was a nice treat. You just won't get filled up with one. Looking forward to exploring more of their menu. read more

True to its name, the scrumptious cupcakes aren't as sweet and the flavors are a bit more subtle with a new rotating weekly line-up of 4 unique flavors along with 8 classic flavors (dozen total flavors/week). The cupcakes sell out fast, best to get them early (you can't pre-order)! I've been here 4 times and tried a dozen of the new rotating flavors. The classic Raspberry Almond is my favorite flavor, the almond cake flavor is subtle and pairs really well with light raspberry buttercream. The Chocolate Salted Caramel and Raspberry Cocoa cupcakes are among my favorites with a rich moist chocolate cake. Th Raspberry buttercream pairs well with the chocolate cake. The S'mores graham cracker cupcake filled with chocolate frosting was delicious and also enjoyed the Sharkberry Shortcake filled with strawberry. The Tiramisu had a nice Expresso flavor. The cinnamon Churro flavor was like Snickerdoodle and the Mexican Hot Chocolate had a nice kick to it. The Hummingbird cupcake tasted a bit like carrot cake with nice texture. The Pina Colada tastes like a pineapple rum cake. The Lemon Lavender cupcake with lemon cupcake with lavender seeds and lavender frosting was bursting with flavor and fun to try! The classic Vanilla and Chocolate cupcakes, and Cherry Blossom are tasty, but prefer the other flavors. Always excited for the unique new weekly flavors. Cupcake Heaven. Honestly, this really lives up to its name. The inside is nice. It's a rustic, almost a farmhouse kind of vibe. There was some light music playing in the background. All of the menu's and signage were handwritten and looked nice. Overall, this place is warm. It's cozy. First things first. I had a gluten free blueberry pastry bar and this thing was incredible and packed with flavor. Sometimes with "gluten free" foods you can TASTE that it's gluten free. With this, I couldn't even tell, it was so good. My only regret is not eating it with a big glass of cold milk. The service was incredible as well, very friendly, welcoming, and fast. We also ordered iced caramel macchiatos.. and this was incredible. You can typically tell when you see that type of drink if it's going to be good, and it was immediately apparent this thing was going to be good, and it really was. My wife has had this drink three times in the past and swears it's been perfect every single time. Now, let's talk about the cupcakes. My wife used to bring them home sometimes, and I'd end up having one or two hours later, and even then, they were perfect. Moist, rich, and full of a deep, delicious flavor. BUT TODAY. I finally got to try them fresh, right after buying them. And guess what? Still just as perfect. I'm not usually a big sweets or dessert person, but these really do hit that random sweets craving. I fell in love with Cupcake Heaven about 5 1/2 years ago when they opened in Haymarket -- and I even posted back then about how nothing I found while traveling for work ever quite compared. Well... here I am again, traveling, and once again confirming that statement still stands. Apparently, "good cupcakes" elsewhere often means grocery-store decent -- which is just not the same. This week I'm in Las Vegas, surrounded by sparkle, neon, and allegedly "premier" cupcakes (some pushing $45 each ), and all I can think about is a Cupcake Heaven Red Velvet. Two tables outside in the front were available and my dog was welcomed to join me out here as my wife got us some treats. The icing was so light, airy, fluffy and the cupcakes themselves were so supple and light. I have never been so impressed that a Kentucky bourbon cake tasted exactly as its name. We tried 2 cupcakes at $3.25 each. Vanilla cake with milk chocolate frosting is one of their regular flavors. The frosting was great but the cupcake was a bit dry. We almost didn't try the mocha latte, one of their special weekly flavors, because it had chocolate cake - but I'm glad we did! The cake was moist and delicious and not too chocolately - more like devil's food cake. The mocha icing was superb. The shop is cute. OMGoodness!!! So very impressed with Cupcake Heaven!! I emailed a picture of a "baby carriage cupcake" cake for my daughter's BabyShower. Communication was very quick & I was able to pay an online invoice. The cupcakes tasted AMAZING!! Even had a guest at the shower ask me "Are these from Cupcake Heaven down in Haymarket?" She's had them before & recognized the taste from her prior experience. Everything was packaged so beautifully including the bags of extra icing they included so I could pipe on the outlines once the cupcakes were properly assembled. This business recently replaced the old Hunt Country Coffee, which was pretty good in my opinion. However, Cupcake Heaven is amazing! Best café in town! (or so my taste buds tell me) I come in with my little brother and we get cupcakes and a milkshake. The milkshakes are to die for! Their whipped cream (Which tastes homemade) isn't overpoweringly sweet like others, and the milkshake is as good or even better than Chick-Fil-A's. The ladies are very friendly, service is quick and yummy! The vibes are overall chill. Parking is behind the building or do the dreaded parallel parking in the front. There is outside seating and its wheelchair accessible. I did see a few 1-star reviews relating to the cupcakes being stale and the owner being rude, and I want to say that since they've come to Marshall, every cupcake has been soft and the icing was just perfect in balancing the sweetness and flavor and even the texture was heaven-like! As for the owner being rude, there are usually two ladies at the front chatting with each other when I walk in, so I haven't met the goddess who made Cupcake Heaven a thing, but I'm sure she's as sweet as her cupcakes! About a 2-2.5: I've heard such great things about Cupcake Heaven and Cafe, a cupcakerie-and-a-gift-shop-in-one located in OT Haymarket. They have 12 flavors of cupcakes that are available daily, including flavors of the week, such as Chocolate Bliss, Cookies n' Cream, Red Velvet Buttercream, etc. They also have other cafe items, such as quiche, scones, brownies, turnovers, muffins, etc. The hubs and I came here, pre-pandemic, to get a sampler box, and we ordered 1 of each: the Pink Champagne, the Chocolate Salted Caramel, the Boston Cream Pie, the Carrot, the Southern Red Velvet with cream cheese, the Southern Red Velvet with buttercream, the Vanilla Almond with Raspberry, the Vanilla with Milk Chocolate, the Chocolate Bliss, the Vanilla Divine, the Cookies and Cream, and the Triple Chocolate. Honestly, the cupcakes were forgettable. They were not necessarily dry, but they were not moist, either. The only one that I did enjoy was the Vanilla Almond with the Raspberry filling, as I liked the combination of the flavors - frosting was more of a whipped and airy type, which is great, as it wasn't too decadent or overly sweet. Staff could be a bit more friendlier, more welcoming, and more engaging - considering it was a small business and there were only a couple customers dining in/doing work, I just thought that there would be more of an effort into providing recommendations or going over the flavors. Not sure why Yelp is not allowing me to "update" my review - for some reason - it appears to be making me write a brand new review. Oh well! I come here regularly for my morning caffeine fix! In cold weather, it's for Dalia's patented Americano - an extra strong version of an Americano - that Dalia (the manager) is known for. In hot weather, I come in for their iced coffee. It's pre-brewed and then refrigerated in these large pitchers - so that when poured over ice - it does not melt and dilute the strength of the drink. They usually have two iced coffee options. Strong, tasty, and delicious! Of course they offer a ton of coffee and espresso drink options - all the ones you'd expect. plus some specialty coffee drinks - like their Wild Blackberry Mocha and their Bullet Coffee option (coconut oil and other ingredients). They also offer breakfast sandwiches, scones, vegetable Quiche and Quiche Lorraine, soups, and of course their cupcakes. I don't eat a lot of cupcakes - but their "Maple-Bacon" cupcake is amazing! They rotate their cupcake selection every week - so be aware of that. Kim the owner - also takes custom orders for cupcakes and cakes - check with them on that. I got to experience Kim's custom cakes a few years ago - two separate surprise birthday parties - ordered custom cakes from Cupcake Heaven for my birthday. There is free WiFi here and both indoor and outdoor seating. They also sell a range of other products - t-shirts, ball caps, jewelry, some home decor items - and such. Honestly, I am disappointed with the cupcakes from this bakery. I was highly anticipating trying this place out because I had heard highly of their cupcake selection. My family and I purchased 6 cupcakes so we could try out a variety: chocolate, pistachio, Oreo, red velvet, almond and raspberry, and vanilla. Of the 6 cupcakes the almond raspberry was my favorite, i loved the pairing. If you don't like the taste of almond extract, I would not choose this cupcake. Pistachio was tasty but had no flavor of pistachio. My least favorite was the vanilla, it was the consistency of corn bread, dry and crumbly. The icing on the cupcakes is whip cream -like. Overall, I thought the cupcakes were just okay, I probably won't drive out of my way to purchase them again as I have had similar cupcakes from behind the glass at grocery stores. read more

I think I've reviewed Cupcake Heaven before, but it came up in my feed so here goes. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!! I've had cupcakes from other bakeries and they never seem to live up to the hype. They're either dry, or the icing is hard, or they're just stale and taste horrible, or have no taste at all. Not Cupcake Heaven, I've been here SEVERAL TIMES and they have never disappointed. They have a rewards program so loyal customers are rewarded which is nice. But the cupcakes and service are good enough to keep coming. The ladies that wait on you are alway pleasent and friendly. They wait patiently as you take forever to pick your cupcakes. Not that I ever do that, lol. They have what I call a standing rotation of flavors. These are always available, but they also have and extra 4, I think it's 4, that change periodically. So you're treated to something new when you come. Then you get to wait anxiously for that flavor to return to the line up. In my case the Neapolitan. Think vanilla, chocolate, strawberry ice cream, but in a Cupcake. AWESOME. The icing was light and fluffy and I couldn't resist picking up a couple more but try to get four to get 10% off (I forgot in my rush). The pistachio cupcake is becoming a new favorite, I could probably consume a dozen in one sitting. They have new weekly flavors so I'll definitely have to make a trip when I can. Oh wow! So when you think of a creme brulee frap from Starbucks do your teeth hurt thinking about how sweet it is?? Some people love very sweet desserts/drinks which I totally get. But, I do not. Drove from Centreville today, which was a 20 min drive, to try the cupcakes and probably won't drive that "far" for it again. First off, one of the two staff who was an older lady that took my order did not seem friendly at all. Having a small business like that I would've thought the staff would be much friendlier. Second, the cupcakes were not that great. It tasted like it was made using the box mixture for cupcakes bought at a grocery store. The cream on top was good though. The flavors I ordered were: 1. Boston Cream Pie- Uhmm...where was the Boston cream pie?! 2. Cookies and Cream- the flavor was only on the cream... 3. Chocolate Bliss- typical chocolate flavor with vanilla icing 4. Peanut butter cup- had a pretty strong taste of peanut butter I also bought the iced macadamia white mocha which tasted like it was more milk than the actual flavor. We've been going to this place for several years because we absolutely love the cupcakes. We have only gotten cupcakes, so can't speak to their other food items but cupcake flavors we have tried have been REALLY good. My favorite has been the almond raspberry but triple chocolate is also great, as is red velvet (go for the cream cheese frosting). Out of all of the dessert places we have tried, we like the cupcakes here the most. Definitely stop in here as it's best in the area. Just a heads up, they do have a $5 minimum if you are paying by credit card but I think two cupcakes gets you over that hump. read more
