Omg so many thoughts on this experience I'm so glad i didn't immediately know it was a restaurant located in a hotel. This prob would have deterred me, even a little bit. The Apple map directions here confused me a little due to this, but parking was really plentiful so that's a huge plus! I went on a Sunday morning and lo and behold there was a hole farmers market or pop up set up all through haymarket! Busy weekend for a brunch but haymarket is SUCH a cute little vibe and town with so many hidden gems, like this one!! Literally every single item I saw waiters bring out from the kitchen looked so scrumptious, every person around us immediately began digging in and enjoying their meals...and honestly, no crumbs were left behind pretty much every time. We started ordering a yummy cocktail. I was really in the mood for the Paloma with grapefruit juice but sadly they were out of grapefruit juice fortunately, they had plenty cocktails available that were not explicitly on the menu! I ended up having a delicious espresso martini, prepared, right and honestly, I would have had another!! Not too sweet. Not creamy. And with 3 beans. Impeccable no notes. I ordered the red House breakfast. Man those home potatoes were so delicious....they clearly cooked them seasoned deliciously and then flash fried, so crunchy!!!! Amazing. I found that their execution on their meals was really impressive. My sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly and paired so yummy with the toast. The bacon had delicious flavor too. I ordered a biscuit because I had heard that their biscuits were really yummy but unfortunately they did not have their bacon biscuit so it was just a classic biscuit. It was good, certainly dense and clearly homemade. My girlfriend got the poutine. Looked so delicious and was really enjoyed! The gravy was thick and flavorful! We sat down and enjoyed plenty of conversation and a really nice environment. Nobody rushed us, service was just the right amount of attentive without interrupting conversation constantly, and the floor to ceiling windows let in beautiful natural light and views of the town. It was the perfect brunch spot for a low-key, but delicious meal. Just a hair out of the way without being too far. I came out with a really good friend of mine to celebrate my one year wedding anniversary with her and it was the perfect possible location. Shout out to the staff for being so welcoming and kind, and even taking a picture of us when we asked to commemorate the occasion. Not the best experience for brunch. The waitress was unenthusiastic and came back to the table multiple times to let us know they were out of items including: the juice that came with the mimosa flight after we ordered it, another bottle of champagne for anyone else who wanted mimosas, (so mimosas overall, lol), the avocado toast, the poutine and another key ingredient in a cocktail we ordered. The food was average at best when it came out. Super disappointed. We came here for my mom's 5 year beating cancer anniversary and it wasn't much of a celebration. read more

My brother who lives in the area booked reservations at this place for us to gather for Sunday brunch on Easter Sunday. I was surprised to find this located with the Hilton Hotel. And quite frankly I was a bit skeptical at first, just because it's a hit or miss when eating at hotel restaurants. However the place was very nice and super clean. Service was exceptional and the food was amazing. Everyone was delighted with their dishes. My husband had the chicken and waffles and he said it's been the best he's had in years. Maybe it was just what I got, but I was disappointed. I got the Red House Breakfast - the eggs and toast were tasty but the potatoes came out as if they were scorched with a blowtorch. Looked like they had been deep fried. Rock hard. Bacon was flimsy and not crisp. The side salad was delicious and lemony. Service was good. Really disappointed that their website doesn't mention that they do not serve lunch (only brunch) on weekends. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

First, it is a restaurant in a hotel, which Yelp never identified. The ambiance was what you would expect when the space is open to the rest of the lobby area. Noisy with people wandering through. Second, the food was only a step above what you would get from say, a Hampton Inn. Microwaved biscuits, sausage gravy made from leftover links, poorly poached eggs. They at least made a pancake fresh. It was large and fluffy. Next time I'll be more diligent in looking for a brunch spot. Or just go to Waffle House. read more

The biscuit was savory and fluffy. My friend had then avocado toast that came with a side salad. This was good. A solid avocado toast. I also got the bacon scone and it was just amazing. Fluffy and not dry. Service (2/5): I tried to call to make a reservation but the hotel (Hilton Garden inn) put me on hold for over 5 min and never came back. I hung up. They don't have an ability to make reservations on line so we showed up early on a Sunday and there were no spaces. We met our son and his new fiancée here for brunch and for real people don't sleep on this place because it's in the Hilton! The location is easy to find and has ample parking. The space is elegant and well lighted. We were immediately greeted and every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Deviled Eggs and I will be trying to replicate this recipe for the rest of my life! Delicious! Our entrees were the next great thing to happen! The Quiche was superb! Wanted to do a local date night when I stumbled across Red House Tavern. It's something I've passed a million times and never really thought about going to. But I was so pleasantly surprised. The cocktail selection here was great and sort of reminded me restaurants you'd find in DC, rather than suburban Virginia. The service amazing! Our server Lanchi made some great recommendations, such as the squid ink pasta which was a 10/10. My husband really loved the pork belly as well. The lamb chops were great too. What more can I say about this spot. I stayed at the Hilton attached to this restaurant and this place was so good we went twice in 2 days! Not only was the food amazing but both times we had amazing waiters as well. On to the food Pain Perdu (8/10) a bit sweet but great, Deviled Eggs (7/10), Salmon Rillette (8/10), Fried Chicken Biscuit (9/10). I didn't get a picture of the biscuits and house made jam I ordered on the 2nd day but man were those good! Expensive, but absolutely delightful. Located inside the Hilton hotel. Setting can be romantic at night as it is dimly lit. Server recommended 2-3 plates per person as they can be quite small and I don't agree. My wife and I split 6 oysters, squid ink pasta, and a burger and we were stuffed. Items are quite expensive, but our server said that the surrounding area is well off so it might explain why. Service is rather quick and efficient when we went. Highly recommend the burger. I was in town, and ever since they opened, I have been wanting to check it out when I visit my daughter. Today, I got my chance. Yelp said that it opened again after lunch at 3. We got there at 3:30 only to find out that happy hour drinks and the happy hour food menu started at 4 and the dinner menu at 5. My daughter and I had not eaten all day, and we were hangry. I ordered a glass of wine and perused the lobby shop where they sell many local products. Finally, 4 hit and boom! I asked our fabulous bartender, Heather, to put in our order. The food arrived, and I have to say it was good! The oysters, oh my! I ate a dozen and could have eaten a dozen more. So good! So fresh and briny. The duck confit poutine was rich, tender, and flavorful. My only negative on this dish was that I found it to be a bit salty. The salmon rillettes is a smoked salmon spread with excellent flavor balance. It's very tasty. The duck confit pastilla is pretty much like a duck confit egg roll. Had the opportunity to check out Red House Tavern for a work lunch. The decor of the is modern and very cozy feel. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the Homemade Squid Ink Pasta with Shrimp. I love how flavorful this pasta was, perfect balance of garlicky. The pasta and shrimp was cooked perfectly. A must order! Also had their house frites and it was absolutely delicious, perfect crisp and love the russet style potato. I also ordered their Black Out Cake which is an espresso chocolate cake with Khalua. The place is in a Hilton Garden Inn and the tables are close to each other, so not much intimate vibes if that's what you're seeking. The burger was good but nothing overly amazing. It came on an english muffin that easily fell apart, so they may need to rethink their bun. It was accompanied by a salad, which was oversalted for some reason. The tuna crudo was good and bone marrow is rich and comes with horseradish and parsley which mix well with the marrow to spread on the toast. Came here today for lunch meeting a friend. I got the butternut squash ravioli and a salad. My ravioli was 26 dollars for 5 raviolis. Other than that the salad was delicious and they make their own salad dressing, my friend was raving about the lemon dressing. Can I give them 6 stars? I heard stories of this place and had been aiming to visit. Having crew from the Inn of Little Washington is definitely an incentive. This is one of the few times I've ever been served an amuse bouche. That's fancy in my book. Meals here are designed to be shared, so feel free to get several. We got a mix of seafood (oysters and octopus) plus pork belly. Of course, 'pork belly' isn't just 'pork belly' here. It was served with a roasted peach and habanero sauce, on top of polenta fresca and charred corn vierge. Service was top notch. I visited the Red House Tavern recently for the first time for breakfast one Friday morning. The Red House Tavern is located in the Hilton Garden Inn Haymarket. I have to say - pre-pandemic - I traveled a lot for work. I was usually on an airplane every week - and as such, I've stayed in a lot of Hilton Garden Inns over the year and around the country - easily 30 or so locations, and none of them come close to how nice this HGI and it's amenities are. I managed to slip in right before they closed for breakfast - which is 10:00 am. I wish they stayed open for breakfast until around - say 10:30 - 10:40 am. The breakfast menu is not extensive - instead one has some very targeted breakfast options. I decided to try a classic breakfast, eggs over easy, bacon, and crispy breakfast potatoes. I took my daughter to dinner and we had the most incredible meal and experience! We started with the mussels...best I have ever had! The chorizo gives it an unexpected kick! Then we couldn't get enough of the hamachi crudo! So good! We split the Alaskan halibut...again AMAZING! One of the best meals I've had in a long time and I travel the world for a living. We went here for Easter Brunch - so they KNEW it was going to be a busy day. We had reservations, as I'm sure the large party in the private room did - so once again, they KNEW weeks in advance it was going to be a busy time. There is no buffet, so you order from their menu, most of the items they have all the time, so nothing difficult to make (we got Virginia ham scramble, fried chicken and a waffle, and poutine and another egg dish). The server didn't want to make eye contact with us, so I had to call him over a couple of times. I knew it wasn't his fault, but an explanation or an offer of biscuits, or something would've been nice. After 45 minutes they brought out two people's entree, we had to wait another 10 minutes for the other two entrees. I spoke with the manager and she said "it was just busy and all we can do is try to do better next time." They ended up taking 15% off, not sure why she didn't mention they would do that. We had a group of neighbors eating on separate checks and the waitress kept on insisting we order dishes we could all share. Some folks drank others didn't and we were all very casual acquaintances not old friends. Getting it clear we weren't sharing was difficult she kept setting the courses in the middle of the table. Came here for a last minute lunch with my oldest and it did not disappoint! We came a little past the lunch rush on a Tuesday just before they closed prior to dinner and were able to still order off the lunch menu. The restaurant is located on the bottom floor of the Hilton Garden Inn and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There is plenty of room/space available for both large groups and something intimate. They even have a private dining room if that is your thing. Additionally--though the menu features absolutely upscale delights, there are still high chairs and booster seats available so that your littles are also able to dine. The seating format/ambiance of the restaurant is warm, and while modern it certainly isn't off putting to dine with kids (after all I was able to get my 12yo to love his fare). We ordered a fettuccine shrimp pasta and a fish and chips. The pasta was done perfectly al dente (and at least appeared to be handmade/fresh), -- sauce was well balanced and the shrimp was done to perfection (bouncy and tender). My oldests' fish and chips was perfectly battered/fried without being overly greasy and was well balanced with the slaw. Service was prompt, friendly, and warm -- we wanted for nothing. In Haymarket there are few gems that really do this level of dining and do it this well -- this place has always been consistently 10/10. The hubs and I were passing through town and decided to come here based on all the great reviews. Called ahead, and the person told us they were all booked. Bar area available? Yes, first come basis. It's in the Hilton Garden Inn. We took a chance. A tip-The shareable plates may not be enough for two (If you're hungry). The bar area was spacious and very nice. We sat at a long table. Waitress ( also a bartender) was pleasant and helpful, but busy. Additional waitress (helper) was excellent, making sure we were well cared for We received a little treat compliments of the chef-some type of puffed appetizer. Nice. My halibut was very good, not enough to share as the menu suggests, but I liked it. Rissoto was bright green, and tasted "okay". Hubby got a burger that was cut in two in case he wanted to share. But he ate it all with no problem. It was cooked well and had flavor, but he said they put a little too much aoli on it. it's a clean modern restaurant in a newer clean Hilton. Friendly staff. I really want to like Red House Tavern. The ambiance is great and the staff is good. I've gotten a few dishes such as the squid ink pasta and the mussels and they have all been mediocre. The dishes have been too salty or just kind flatlined. If they could revamp and work on a few of the recipes I think they'd knock the menu out the park. read more

We have been here several times and each time gets worse. We were shocked and deeply upset by the poor quality of both the food and service during this visit, which ruined what was meant to be a special celebration dinner. We arrived at 7:30 and were not done until 10:30. This was due to slow service, not allowing for time to order dessert if we wanted to. The waitress was nowhere to be found at least 10 times during our dining experience. That's unacceptable. Our vantage point allowed us a wonderful view of our food sitting on the shelf in the kitchen getting cold for several minutes before 3 of the four dishes were served. For some reason, the waitress never returned to the kitchen to retrieve the fourth meal. We could see it sitting there the entire time! Needless to say the food was extremely cold, extremely expensive and tasted awful! The carbonara had so much black pepper in it that it tasted like a mouthful of pepper spray. The $75 Wagyu steak was overcooked and cold. At one point during the meal the waitress cleaned the table and proceeded to wipe a lot of crumbs directly into my lap. This dining experience was an absolute nightmare--from the cold, inedible food to the rude and inattentive service--that completely ruined our evening and represents one of the worst restaurant visits we've ever endured. We came here because we heard really good things about the chef-inspired menu and excellent execution of their menu and we knew it was in a hotel, but found it odd that there's actually a Hiton (even thought it's a smaller brand Hilton, the Garden Inn) in Haymarket... Having grown up in this county, this area had always been so very rural, but now there's an entire new demographic... Very sad to see what's come of this once quaint, small, farming town But this restaurant found a nice home in the lobby here, as it's a beautiful lobby area and it seems to have a decent amount of foot traffic, from guests and locals. The lunch menu is loaded with several very appealing items, but I chose their fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries and my wife got the beet and goat cheese salad with grilled chicken added to it. We both absolutely loved our meals... her chicken was very tender (could cut it with a fork, perhaps it was brined) and the salad was made with very fresh greens, cheese, and tasty beets. The salad that came with my sandwich was awesome, it had a very nice vinaigrette and amazing red peppers, along with perfectly fresh greens - YUM!! The chicken sandwich had a bit going on, but it all came together perfectly! The batter was excellent! The pickles looked and tasted homemade and the slaw was crispy, tasty, and fresh. The bun was outstanding!! Not sure if it was homemade, but it sure seemed like it, as it was a huge ciabatta bun. We definitely enjoyed this meal and will most definitely return! read more
