Visiting from CA for a work conference. We found this place on a FB group for Eagles fans. Definitely mixed feelings about this place when we first got there. For an Eagles game day, it's a great place for fans to enjoy. Lots of TV's nicely placed and enough seating for the crowd. The service from the ladies that interacted with us was great and the food came out fast and hot! I'd def recommend the wings and fries! Freshly cut and seasoned really well :) The hubs enjoyed a quick convo with the owner who seemed pretty down to earth. I feel like Pittsburgh has a wall up when it comes to different demographics. This seemed like a nice enough neighborhood dive, relatively clean, relatively. Food was so-so. Draft beer was in a dirty glass with no head on it- flat. Worst of all its in a bad neighborhood. I strongly suggest staying away. read more

Came in for an EAGLES SUNDAY!! Our servers were the most friendly and attentive ladies. My dad and I split the classic 1 with no swiss and an order of hot garlic parm wings. The sandwich was great. The rye bread was lightly toasted and the red pepper relish was just the right amount of heat. The wing flavor was great and they were a decent size. We wished they were a little more crispy, but they were definitely a solid 8/10 as is. The fries were pretty good! They were lightly seasoned, but also not super crispy. They have two bathrooms, one downstairs and one outside. My dad said the one outside was clean, but the con is that you have to walk outside to get there. The decor inside is great. My 1st pitts drink was at this wonderful establishment! It's like a College bar, with super salty food. It's good if ur getting hammered. Which i did. So it was great. Pretty decently clean. Stopped here after a wedding to get a drink with my boyfriend to watch the Penguins game. I don't think we could have stumbled upon a better place to do so! As some other reviewers remarked, this is your typical shot and beer kind of place. But as someone who loves a good Yinzer bar, this earns 4 stars for me. The service was great despite the fact they were getting busy. If someone wanted to know what a yinzer bar was, I think this would be a shining example. Will be back soon! read more

My boyfriend and I usually split the spicy cheese poppers and french fries, but we have also tried their pizza and burgers before. They have the best bar food! The service is always friendly and quick, but go easy on them. On some weekdays there is only one girl handling all the tables and the bar! Cupka's Cafe is your standard dive bar with great food. Everything I've tried here has always been solid and what I wanted. The drinks are extremely cheap which I think is a must for a good bar. The food prices are also decent. We had the zucchini planks today which were super crispy and perfect paired with the summer ale we got. I went here this past weekend with my friend after we took his dog for a walk on the church trail. There is plenty of outside seating and they are pet friendly for the outside seating area. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer and they were delicious. We mostly just drank they had $13 dollar miller light buckets. It's a great location and great service. read more

Can't say enough about this cafe! I love having the option of sitting outside, and with two outdoor seating areas, there's always on open table If you want a side of sun with your beer. The food is great, the drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly. My favorite part about this place is that they are always so welcoming to my pup. They consistently have a water bowl for him without me even asking. I live the chipotle chicken wrap and the hot pepper cheese bites They also have a great beer selection between draft beers and bottles. Basically- there's something for everyone. It's kind of funny how you can live, work and play in a city and not realize what it has to offer. Each neighborhood having it's own unique blend of places to mingle at and food to nosh on. The South Side is just one neighborhood. Depending where you are in the age bracket right now in your life, you are either going to view this neighborhood in one of two ways. With alcohol and without. For me at this point in my life, I have come to be in the latter group, not to say that I still don't go out and have a good time, but just not in this neighborhood anymore. The longwinded introduction up above is just my way of saying that I am glad that I came to Cupka's Café II without alcohol. Was meeting a friend for lunch while I was in between appointments. We had not destination set and just decided to wonder the South Side. We had walked several blocks bypassing several establishments we enjoy to find something new and different to us. That is how we stumbled upon Cupka's II. When we walked it there weren't very many people in here. A few patrons at the bar and a small group finishing up their lunch. Luckily for us that was a good thing, meaning we had swift service from the start. The bartender doubled as our waitress which was appropriate, a quick look over the menu and we were set. I opted for the Belasco burger which is a burger that is named after a regular that comes into the bar. A nice big patty that is topped with a fried egg, melted cheese, French fries, lettuce, tomato, and they claim ranch dressing, but I think it is a chipotle ranch. This burger is constructed much like a Primanti's sandwich. Thick cut Italian bread tries its best to keep the burger and toppings together as you pull that greasy mess to your mouth. It was great. The egg yolk dripping out after just one bite, mixing with the dressing and grease. The tomato was freshly sliced, lettuce was crisp, I really have nothing bad to say about this burger. Good job Cupka's II. The burger is served with a small side of Cole slaw which had a little too much of a vinegar taste for me and a healthy portion of fresh cut fries. I know I love me some potatoes and they delivered here. I think my friend was getting a bit annoyed by how much I was talking about it. This place is definitely worth a look during the waking hours while in the South Side. read more

Cupka's II has had a handful of chances to impress me, and I've yet to leave satisfied. Now, it's a bar, so I don't expect much from the food, but no matter what you order, expect nothing less than a greasy mess on a plate served up by a waitress who seems miserable. The few positives regarding the food? The cole slaw on the side is actually really good...and I like their honey mustard. I'm pretty sure that's it. Note that my favorite things about their food is the sides? Yeah...that should say enough about their offerings. Fresh-cut fries seem like a great idea, but they're way too greasy to enjoy. The grilled chicken sandwiches are so greasy, you may as well just order deep fried chicken. Again, I understand that it's bar food, but all of the grease and butter just makes everything on your plate taste the same. I've never ordered the same meal twice, but my taste buds would laugh at me if I tried to tell them otherwise. Even if the food was awful, they could still bring me back with good service, right? Right...unfortunately, that doesn't exist at Cupka's II, either. Yesterday's waitress did a good job dealing with our large group, but she just had no personality and didn't seem to want to be there. Sadly, that was the first time that the service was decent, but it was hardly good enough to bring me back. It was a quant local bar restaurant with pretty good draught beer(+1) Can't say much about it because only stopped in with some friends for a drink. It is rustic and reminds me of a city bar you see in an action movie LOL.... had outside seating which was limited and inside the small bar, the only part I saw there were high top tables, lots of TVs with sports on and a pretty good size bar.. from what I could see it is a local hangout.. I recently had my one of my daughter's baby showers there in their addition and outside patio which was beautifully surrounded with freshly planted blooming flowers. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The sandwich rings are fresh and delicious. The stuff cabbage is homemade and the best that I've ever tasted, and everyone loved the fried chicken! I've always passed by the large dining room with open windows/doors and thought it had to be a really nice place to sit on a warm day and grab a beer. While sadly I didn't grab a beer, and it wasn't necessarily the warmest day, it was still a good time here. I stopped in to meet some friends for brunch on a Sunday. I had to ask the friend if they even had food, because I wasn't sure. But they had a small breakfast menu when I arrived around 11:30am. Our server was a no show for a while (we had a large party and others had already ordered/eaten), but still there were a lot of empty cups. Once we flagged someone down, the dude seemed pretty flustered. I ordered an omelet and wanted to get a bunch of the veggies and a meat. He was very adamant I was only able to order three different items. I thought it was so weird beause I'd definitely pay extra for the items, but I'm assuming he might have been new or flustered. He finally gave in and let me order 4 items in my omelet! The omelet came with homefries and Italian toast. It was a large meal and the entire thing was $4.99. Yes, you read that right! The omelet could have used a little more salt and pepper and the potatoes could have been slightly crispier, but it was still a good. One star is me being generous after my experience here one Sunday watching football. We should have known better given the drunken Steelers gear wearing girls that were dancing and playing ridiculous songs on the jukebox ever so loudly when other patrons were watching football (since the Steelers game was over, they must have assumed that no one else cared what was going on with the other games). For a place that was not that busy with multiple staff members working, service was AWFUL! I had to chase down someone to get drinks and food and even the check. If you do not want to be working, take the day off! They do have NFL Sunday ticket, but depending on which side of the place you sit on, you may not be able to enjoy the team you are looking to watch. I do not think I will ever go back here... when there is nothing good about a place, it leaves me not wanting more! read more

There is a "bouncer" who looks like A relative of Joe Walsh. For how he pranced around the bar, I suspect he may have some ownership stake. He is not welcoming: at least not in this particular Saturday. I tend to enjoy share of dive bars, but it was a bad experience. And, the bathrooms look like a bathroom that Joe WAlsh partied in 1977. If you're a fan of the Undertaker, there is a fantastic photo cutout of him and another random dude on the wall. This was the only reason to go there. I've been here twice and have had different experiences each time. The first time I enjoyed this place a lot. The service was quick and easy, the bartender was friendly, and the food was both affordable and delicious. The second time was a nightmare. First off, there was a customer wearing a shirt with a giant eagle and SS logo on it (very clearly Nazi imagery). Okay, I thought, not off to a great start. I approached the bar ready to order a drink and some food, but there was nobody there. The owner walked past me twice without saying anything. (No "Hey, we'll be right with you!" Nothing.) The bartender, who appeared to be running the entire show herself, was finally ready to take my order after about ten minutes, at which point I was already walking out and taking my business elsewhere. The fries were not cooked all the way, the chicken was super slimy and chewy, I couldn't tell if it was still pink since it had buffalo sauce on it. The lettuce was brown. This is a sports/dive bar that seems to have a lot of regulars. The service was good and they were all friendly. On our first bill, we were charged craft beer prices for Ultra. When my husband questioned it, they did adjust the price. The rating of 2 stars is really based on the food. We ordered the pretzel sticks as an appetizer so we could gauge the food quality to see if we wanted to order dinner. The pretzels came out very done on the outside but still cold and doughy on the inside. They were served in a river of butter with some very thick gluelike cheese. We tried them but did not eat them. We told the waitress she could go ahead and take them. She looked at them, rolled her eyes, and took them away. You could tell that she knew, but she never asked what was wrong with them. She also never offered to remove them from the bill, replace them, etc. We did not formally complain so we just paid for them and moved on to somewhere else for dinner. I can't say enough great things about this family owned restaurant/bar. The food was delicious and the price is right. It reminded me of my grandmothers cooking. We had the stuffed cabbage and it just melted in your mouth! It was so good. My dad had the fish sandwich and fries. The French fries were homemade and the sandwich was huge. The portions were great.
