andrew smola came out out to do an estimate at my house, when he arrived he reeked of marijuana order and smoke was bellowing out of his f-150. he then came in my house with muddy boots and I asked him politely to take them off and he told me its unprofessional to do an estimate without boots on. after dragging what seemed to be paint and dirt through my foyer he then gave me an outrageous quote on painting my living room. after I told him is this reasonable ? he said I can go hire a Hispanic if they are able to make before ice detains them. he then went on about how painting is a white mans job and how many times he's trusted other races and fired them because of insufficient work ethic. he then told me he needed to make a phone call and went and smoked a joint on my back porch and left a half smoked joint on my kids play table. We hired Curb Appeal to build a deck with pergola and to expand and level stone slabs area at ground level. Their estimate was all-inclusive so parts of the job and lumber costs were not itemized and few details were provided. That should have been a red flag. They were eager to get started and ignored my multiple requests to see a plan before construction began. Lots of construction errors, and sloppy work: joists not seated in the joist hangers, joists not even seated on the main beams; nearly every deck floor screw sunk 1/4" - 1/2" below the deck surface leaving a rough splintered depressions; gaps around posts will collect and hold water. Installed rotted posts and spindles that had to be replaced. Installed warped facing boards with finishing nails around the deck base -- that popped away from the surface the same day they were installed. They only leveled the slabs they needed to build an uneven and unstable set of stairs with nothing to keep the paver sand in place for those slabs -- leaving me with a job that has to be completely redone--what a mess. They were in a hurry to get to their next job and actually watched me (a 5ft tall 67 year old female) move large stone slabs they left out of place -- and didnt offer to help. Horrible experience. I was polite and businesslike, but Curb Appeal management not only did not care -- they were bullying and abusive because I requsted written documentation that the structure was built to code. They added $750 to the final price -- to include things like running to Home Depot to purchase things like post caps I already had, didnt ask for-- and that they didnt even install. The porch looks good from a distance, but it was a hack job. They left me with a lot of work and a feeling the structure is not going to last. We paid the balance because we didnt want to deal with them anymore. read more

My house is 100 years old so we hired Curb Appeal to paint the peeling trim as well as a small barn out back. They did an amazing job! The trim looks good as new and the barn looks great. We recently purchased an older home and after we installed the floors ourselves we didn't have it in us to install the baseboards, wainscoting and paint the door frames and window frames. I am so extremely pleased with the work completed by Curb Appeal in our home. I had a very time consuming job. Wallpaper and trim removal, painting of 6 rooms along with all closets, replacement of all interior doors, and the painting of brown woodwork/trim to white. I contacted Curb Appeal Painting (Richmond Heights, OH), who also do carpentry work, in June of 2020 to get a garage window replaced and told them I had an October deadline to get it done and they said this was "no problem". They came out in July to measure and to give me a written estimate. I reiterated I needed it done by October and they said they would order the window and it would be no problem. I contacted them by phone several times in September telling them I still had an October deadline, a different person came out to measure, and again was told it was no problem. When October arrived, I called again, and found out that the window actually hadn't been ordered yet. At this point my schedule had changed so I had until November 25 and so they said they ordered the window and it would arrive by November 16. When I called on November 18, they then said the window would not arrive until after November 25. So, I cancelled the order and had to do a makeshift repair of the problem myself. The lack of care on this is just stunning. I contacted them in June for a simple window, they said they would take care of it and it was no problem, and they did not keep their word. And there is no reason this could not have been done by October even with Covid. None at all. I will not use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more
