Great place to stop by for an early weekend lunch. Since it was early, I decided to go with the Angus sliders, which were better than your average sliders. The caramelized onions and bacon jam make a huge difference and make it worth getting sliders. Heads up - if you have tots, they do have high chairs for both high top and regular tables but they don't have a kids menu. read more

Solid new American grub right in the heart of La Mesa. Yours truly had the sweet heat Brie sandwich; Brie cheese, apricot habanero jam and bacon. Delicious and plentiful. If comes with potato chips but I opted for fries which carried a $4 upcharge. Service was pleasant and prompt, the venue itself was clean and spacious with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5: tipping starts at 20% which I don't generally have an issue with but it's pre calculated to include tax and the local surcharge. It's been a minute since visiting Curbside. I always get the hankering on Fridays, and don't want to deal w the farmers market. No excuse because it's Saturday! They've updated the menu and added some great new stuff. Today it was the Poké nachos, chicken kabob, and for me, the short rib melt. ( It tastes as good as it sounds.) The girls loved the kabob, cooked perfectly and whondoesnt like poké nachos? We like sitting outside because we brought the pups but it's a cool spot. I think the food is solid Four but it gets Five due to Kyle our server. He's very nice but was on top of his game and we had a slight order mishap with sauce on fries ( no biggie to me) immediately upon delivery, hey sorry that's not quite right and I've got new fries on the way. Stopped by here for brunch and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was the best I ever had. The bartender said she makes the mix her self and it was delicious! The short rib was soooo good. The place is super nice inside and very open. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Unfortunately, our experience at Curbside was very disappointing. We were seated right away and served waters while we looked over the menu, so that wasn't the issue. The problem came at the end of our meal when we were ready to leave and waiting for the check. We waited an unusually long time while several tables around us, including guests who were seated after us, received their checks before we did. What was even more concerning was observing the server eating while standing behind the bar, then handling ice and items going into customers' drinks without washing her hands. This raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. The place is a cool vibe and always has the game on, but service and quality of food is not the highest. read more

Loved getting a lil brunchies here! I got the basic breakfast and it was perfect. Everything you want in a breakfast plate. The over easy eggs were prepared just the way they should be. This place is so good! It's a bit small inside but the menu makes it worth it! It's in the perfect area, with shops near by. Food has been incredible everytime. We walked in with produce we had just purchased from the farmers market and had no issues entering. A few minutes later, our friends came to join us, but they were stopped because they were carrying lemonade they had also purchased at the farmers market. The biggest issue wasn't the policy--it was Paul's behavior. He was incredibly rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from the moment he approached them. Instead of politely explaining the policy, he spoke to our friends with an attitude and looked at them with what felt like disgust. His tone, facial expressions, and overall demeanor came across as discriminatory and made them feel singled out and unwelcome. If there's a policy against outside drinks, that's completely understandable. Policies can be enforced with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, Paul chose to handle the situation in a way that was disrespectful, humiliating, and left a terrible impression on everyone in our group. I used to enjoy eating here. But now it feels like I'm going to a gay bar in Hillcrest. The establishment is festooned with inordinate rainbow flags and decorations. It's not even reasonable. After a day of thrifting we wanted a dog friendly lunch and found this gem. It's got a wonderful outdoor patio that you can bring dogs on, as well as an indoor packed with TVs and a bar. The menu is really fresh, creative, and all made from scratch which was a HUGE selling point for me. We came and got a kebab sandwich with chicken, fish and fries which we got their house made chips instead, and pooch patty. Let's start off with the pooch patty. I took a nibble to test before I gave to my dog and it was unseasoned and delicious for a dog patty. Great quality meat and she was elated to scarf down the three patties included. The kebab sandwich for me was amazing. Every single thing in that wrap/sandwich was seasoned and fresh. The chicken had a perfect char while still beong flavorful and juicy. It was sooo good. The pita chips that came with it were also house made and amazing. My fiancee said her fish and fries/chips were really good. Not over battered, not greasy, but crispy light and flakey. I would agree, the batter was not weighing down the light fish at all. Their tartar sauce was house made with mustard and we both fell in love with it. Their chips are also super delicious. We did not leave a singular crumb. We love the location of this place right in downtown La Mesa and we will for sure be back with our puppy in tow. read more

Waffled between 2 and 3 stars here. Went here around 9pm as it's one of the few places on the boulevard open later on a weeknight. This place is always packed, particularly on car show nights and farmers market nights, so wanted to give it a try. They have a great patio and nice bar area that overlooks the boulevard. Eating inside was a bit tough--the music was so loud that I could barely hear the person sitting across the table from me. Also, with tons of open seating, they put us at a table next to the bathroom entrance, which felt odd given the other available options. Prices were ok, service was ok, food was just okay. It may have been because we were there closer to closing, but I personally still expect the same experience as I would at 6pm from a food standpoint. I got a burger and fries, and the fries came out cold and there were very few of them. When having to pay $3 extra for fries when the burger is already $20, I expect an actual serving of fries that aren't cold. The burger was decent, tasty toppings. I'm probably willing to give this another shot earlier in the evening given its popularity, but it will probably be a while until we give it another go. read more

Brought a friend here for her birthday, and got the timing just right as downtown La Mesa was also having their classic car event, and there was a live band playing. It was a bit loud, but much more the festive than annoying kind. Parking was a bit tight, but if you're willing to walk a few blocks, it's not a problem. Our server was so friendly that I was really impressed. She wasn't at all fazed by the establishment being packed, and even seemed energized by it. Although every table was full, she even noticed that I wasn't loving my drink (watermelon cider) and cheerfully switched it out (for POG). The kitchen took a little while to get our burgers out to us, but that was to be expected since it was so busy. When they arrived, burgers were perfectly medium, with the adjustments we'd requested (sourdough and light cheese). Kettle cut chips were crisp and lightly salted. The chefs are on point! So came here on a Saturday around 1:30, got seated quickly outside. Served was nice. We ordered the pretzel bites, two taco plate- one firecracker shrimp and one cod, and the breakfast burger- medium with fries. As others have mentioned food was mediocre and just ok at best. Overall everything seemed overly greasy and left a film in our mouths. The pretzel bites tasted rewarmed from frozen, were tough and the cheese sauce lacked any flavor. The fire cracker taco with wasabi slaw was not spicy, mild or medium - it was a zero on a 1-5 scale for spice. Overall flavor was good, but needed a kick. The cod taco was very fried and lacked overall flavor. The salsa was bitter. The burger was well done and missing the sauces-bacon jam I think. We up graded the fries for $3 and got about 12 fries. Overall portion size for the cost, outside of the burger, was less than expected. Flavor wasn't really there. Nothing we got was unpalatable but definitely not crave-worthy. For our meal we believe the prices are too high for the level of quality and taste. read more

Came in here for lunch with my dad the other day. Neither of us had ever been, so we figured, why not? Well, the vibe is really nice. A super cute look, from the floor to the ceiling and the bar with the flowers. The service was good, and we were well taken care of. I didn't try it, but my dad said the mushroom burger was just okay. As for me, well I ordered the chicken tenders and truffle fries. The fries were good, but the proportion was off. There was hardly any chicken :( I wanted more :( They tossed it in their homemade sweet chili sauce and it was sooooo good, but yeah, only like a few bites with more fries than anything. I been here few times and the experiences wasn't great. Last Friday (1/30/26) while at Garmers Market, one of my friends and his lady wanted stop there late night for some food. Everything was fine until it my friend wanted to order few shots and was told by our server that our table was cut off (No beside my friwnd ordering a Lemon Drop ordered any drinks). I asked the server who was we cut off and was first told the owner cut us off from alcohol due to our table behavior, which nothing was inappropriate. Then told us the whole liability thing, not knowing that my friend and his lady caught a Lyft for that reason and I wasn't even drinking (he personally served me Pepsi the entire time). Observing the bar noticing that there was more commotion at the bar itself and then realizing we the only black group in the establishment I drew my conclusion. We paid our bill and immediately left. This is the 3rd time this has happen to me and my wife at this bar and that just a sign that maybe we not welcomed there. Any black group going in there be ready to get sterotyped based off assumption that you loud you must be drunk. I will never come back in here and sure would not recommend this establishment yo anyone of color. read more

I had a solid afternoon at Curbside Eatery & Drinkery. If you're looking for a spot to soak up the La Mesa Village energy, this is it. We sat outside in the sidewalk seating, which is easily the best seat in the house. It's the perfect vantage point for people-watching in downtown La Mesa. The ambiance is relaxed, breezy, and exactly what you want for a weekend lunch. The food was genuinely amazing. I ordered a burger (the name escapes me), but I made a bit of a "rookie mistake" by substituting the brioche bun for sourdough bread. I was craving a sandwich and a burger at the same time don't ask! Stick with the original brioche bun. The sourdough was fine, but this burger was clearly designed for its original pairing. Even with my weird bread choice, the quality of the meat and flavors was top-tier. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars was the service. Our server was busy, which I totally understand, but he walked past our table several times without a glance or a check-in. A quick "how's everything tasting?" or a water refill would have gone a long way. I'll definitely be back. Next time, I'm skipping the "burger-sandwich" experiment and going straight for one of their actual sandwiches! read more

Brought my friend's dog and sat outside on the patio (with warm heaters) to enjoy a delicious burger, sliders (and pup patties) with our wine. Really nice meal, atmosphere and our server Brittan was super nice and added to our experience in such a positive way! Great Sunday! I was driving around today and stumbled upon the amazing strip in La Mesa, which has fantastic shops and eateries. Baseball was on the tube, and the menu looked good, so I shot it. We decided to come here on a Monday Night, instead of Mastiff Kitchen. We were welcomed right away by a host sitting at the front door. After overlooking the menu posted outside, we decided to be seated. The host was very customer service oriented. Shortly after sitting down, our server arrived. She was very enthusiastic and offered a fresh greeting. She answered any questions that we had about the menu and the drinks, in such a positive manner. She is truly the expert. Tried the Societe IPA and the Tequila Old Fashioned. Both were definitely great. The Tequila Old Fashioned IS AMAZING! This is the new go to drink for me this Spring. We also ordered: CAULI ONION SQUASH Shareable, THREE BERRY SALAD with Short Rib added, and SHORT RIB SLIDERS with Housemade Potato Chips. Our food came out in an appropriate amount of time. I had a chance to visit the restroom in between that time. I try not to visit the restroom before I eat, because it can potentially ruin my appetite. This place had a VERY CLEAN AND PRESENTABLE RESTROOM. I was impressed and pleased. Everything tasted great and the vibe here is throwback and nice, plus they play 80s & 90s music. The only thing that I regret is not realizing that there was no dessert on the menu. We were here to continue to celebrate a birthday, but could not indulge in any desserts here.
