Poké nachos
Rocky R.

It's been a minute since visiting Curbside. I always get the hankering on Fridays, and don't want to deal w the farmers market. No excuse because it's Saturday! They've updated the menu and added some great new stuff. Today it was the Poké nachos, chicken kabob, and for me, the short rib melt. ( It tastes as good as it sounds.) The girls loved the kabob, cooked perfectly and whondoesnt like poké nachos? We like sitting outside because we brought the pups but it's a cool spot. I think the food is solid Four but it gets Five due to Kyle our server. He's very nice but was on top of his game and we had a slight order mishap with sauce on fries ( no biggie to me) immediately upon delivery, hey sorry that's not quite right and I've got new fries on the way. Five star service deserves the rating, thanks Kyle.

Stopped by here for brunch and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was the best I ever had. The bartender said she makes the mix her self and it was delicious! The short rib was soooo good. The place is super nice inside and very open. Will definitely be coming back!

Loved getting a lil brunchies here! I got the basic breakfast and it was perfect. Everything you want in a breakfast plate. The over easy eggs were prepared just the way they should be. Non runny yolk lovers look away! The space is a perfect set up for you to sit by the open windows and enjoy brunch and a little people watching. Staying cool from the heat and enjoyin ya lil treats. Ashley was my server and was so sweet! She continually checked on me and made sure I had everything I needed. Def will be coming again! :)

This place is so good! It's a bit small inside but the menu makes it worth it! It's in the perfect area, with shops near by. Food has been incredible everytime. The salads are all unique and absolutely delicious. They even have some Greek items and the falafel was outstanding!! Fries are perfectly crunchy. Service is always fantastic, food is incredible. I'd definitely recommend this spot!

Love this place and the food. Perfect for casual lunch or quick bite with the hubby. From their sliders to the it salads and burgers everything here is delicious. We like to park behind the goodwill and walk around and do some shopping before coming here. Staff is always friendly. Definitely recommend.

Got to visit Curbise today, I was disappointed because I got there at 2 and happy hour is at 3pm They have a good space outside to enjoy the nice weather, big selection of craft beer and plenty of cocktails. Unfortunately, I forgot my ID and I wasn't able to try anything. Food was good! I ordered poke nachos, a little too spicy for me but still good! Overall, a good space. I thought it was a little too pricey but still good.

After a day of thrifting we wanted a dog friendly lunch and found this gem. It's got a wonderful outdoor patio that you can bring dogs on, as well as an indoor packed with TVs and a bar. The menu is really fresh, creative, and all made from scratch which was a HUGE selling point for me. We came and got a kebab sandwich with chicken, fish and fries which we got their house made chips instead, and pooch patty. Let's start off with the pooch patty. I took a nibble to test before I gave to my dog and it was unseasoned and delicious for a dog patty. Great quality meat and she was elated to scarf down the three patties included. The kebab sandwich for me was amazing. Every single thing in that wrap/sandwich was seasoned and fresh. The chicken had a perfect char while still beong flavorful and juicy. It was sooo good. The pita chips that came with it were also house made and amazing. My fiancee said her fish and fries/chips were really good. Not over battered, not greasy, but crispy light and flakey. I would agree, the batter was not weighing down the light fish at all. Their tartar sauce was house made with mustard and we both fell in love with it. Their chips are also super delicious. We did not leave a singular crumb. We love the location of this place right in downtown La Mesa and we will for sure be back with our puppy in tow.

one of our favorite places to go. love that it has an open concept and flows from outside to inside. the seating outside is super quaint. their best dishes are poke nachos (coming from someone who has lived in hawaii!), the sliders (all), shrimp kabob plate, and one time they had a fried chicken sandwich that was perfectly thin and crispy! prices are moderate for san diego and portions are perfect size. go check out this place!

Waffled between 2 and 3 stars here. Went here around 9pm as it's one of the few places on the boulevard open later on a weeknight. This place is always packed, particularly on car show nights and farmers market nights, so wanted to give it a try. They have a great patio and nice bar area that overlooks the boulevard. Eating inside was a bit tough--the music was so loud that I could barely hear the person sitting across the table from me. Also, with tons of open seating, they put us at a table next to the bathroom entrance, which felt odd given the other available options. Prices were ok, service was ok, food was just okay. It may have been because we were there closer to closing, but I personally still expect the same experience as I would at 6pm from a food standpoint. I got a burger and fries, and the fries came out cold and there were very few of them. When having to pay $3 extra for fries when the burger is already $20, I expect an actual serving of fries that aren't cold. The burger was decent, tasty toppings. I'm probably willing to give this another shot earlier in the evening given its popularity, but it will probably be a while until we give it another go.

Classic car night in La Mesa.

Brought a friend here for her birthday, and got the timing just right as downtown La Mesa was also having their classic car event, and there was a live band playing. It was a bit loud, but much more the festive than annoying kind. Parking was a bit tight, but if you're willing to walk a few blocks, it's not a problem. Our server was so friendly that I was really impressed. She wasn't at all fazed by the establishment being packed, and even seemed energized by it. Although every table was full, she even noticed that I wasn't loving my drink (watermelon cider) and cheerfully switched it out (for POG). The kitchen took a little while to get our burgers out to us, but that was to be expected since it was so busy. When they arrived, burgers were perfectly medium, with the adjustments we'd requested (sourdough and light cheese). Kettle cut chips were crisp and lightly salted. The chefs are on point! We really enjoyed our meal. If you appreciate the great meal, great cars, great friends combo, head over to Curbside on a classic car night. You will not be disappointed.

Street side seating

We visited Curbside for lunch and were treated very well. They have a full bar with many options, we opted for local beers and ciders. The place has a bar vibe with seating at the bar, inside, and a lot of outdoor street side seating. We ordered mom's burrito and the short rib sandwich. They both came with in house chips - which were good! Yes, the charge for substituting the chips, but you don't need to. The food was great! Our server/bartender was attentive and accommodating. We had a great lunch!

The pulled pork was delicious and the smoked meatloaf had just the right amount of smoke. For sides, I got the bacon, potato salad and the Street corn. I've had both of these sides before and they hit just right each time. I also ordered the bourbon pecan pie to go. This is the first time having the bourbon pecan pie. I did find some shelves in it, which were a little unpleasant, but at least I know that it's real pecans. It does have a strong bourbon flavor so it may not be the best for kids. To drink, I got the guava lemonade. I arrived with my pup and we sat outside. Everybody was super dog friendly. They brought a nice bowl of water for my guy. I came across KNB on Yelp when trying to find something I hadn't been to yet. KNB Bistro is in a small strip mall next the Windmill Farms market in San Carlos, just off College Avenue. Unknown to me until my arrival, KNB stands for Keg N Bottle, for the bottle shop attached to the bistro. I met up with a friend on a Monday evening right after work. I had noted a happy hour menu online. When I arrived, I checked in at the front and chose an outdoor table. I will say that it was pleasant with the heating, and despite being in a strip mall with a parking lot in front of us, it was actually a nice place to hang out. We spoke to our server about the happy hour menu. Actually the red white wines that were on special by the glass were wines that I enjoy. However, as they were offering a "no corkage special", we decided to walk through the bottle shop and choose a bottle to share. The bottle shop was really impressive and can easily rival some of the large chain liquor stores in the area. After a long time walking around, we chose a lovely Italian Red Blend. However, had they not had the "no corkage special", we would not have had that experience, as I simply would never pay an extra $10 for the bottle. For food, we shared the mushroom flatbread. I chose the happy hour cauliflower bites and my friend chose the happy hour Brussels sprouts. The flatbread was delicious, but I think it could have used more mushrooms. I enjoyed the flavor of the cauliflower bites, but I wished that they had been less battered. I really would give 3.5 stars as the food was good, but not great. However, I chose four stars as I enjoyed my overall experience and would definitely go back. It is a decent happy hour and I believe that it is really a good deal. There were a couple of salads on the menu that sounded really good and I would like to try one of those next time.

From decor, to seating, to the outdoors patio seating, it's great. They have a full bar with seating. They take reservations but, depending of the size of your party, there's automatic gratuity. They have viewing tours here and a full purchase area for all their cocktails. The service we received was 5 stars. We were a party of 15 and they were so tentative. They would bring cups of ice with our canned drinks, we didn't have to wait long after ordering, etc. the staff that assisted us needs to be recognized. All the employees working Friday late afternoon who tend the left corner in the front - kudos! We stuck to the cans because we went for happy hour. During happy hour cans are only $5 and their Ssignature cocktail drinks are only $10 instead of $15. Their Happy Hour appetizer menu is great too. The bulgogi loaded fries are sweet with some heat from the aioli. I do wish the meat were chunks like the original bulgogi instead of slow cooked braised beef that's shredded up. I would also ask for the sauce on the side because it can be a bit much if they put too much. The bbq pork sliders were yummy. The bread was soft, the meat had a subtle sweetness, and the coleslaw added a nice bright freshness to the heaviness of the meat. I only wish there was more slaw on them. The habanero buffalo wings were some of the best wings I've have. They were crispy, the meat was seasoned and not just sauce, and the buffalo sauce was chefs kiss. They are spicy so if you don't do spice definitely get another flavor. If you love visiting breweries or just want to try a new place out you have to come to Cutwater.
