I keep forgetting to place a review, primarily because the Brisket is that GOOD! Easy on the wallet too, and they know a little something something about Mac & Cheese. Try it. I promise you'll be satisfied to the extreme. Half-pound meat, any meat, $32.00 plus 2 sides. Save room 4 some Interesting desserts.

Meal for 2, beans corn baked potato corn bread as the sides. Pulled pork, brisket, bbq chicken as the entrees.

Had a great quiet July 4th lunch at this spot on the patio with our two dogs. The food is straight fire--we had the meal for 2 as seen in the pic. Definitely try their homemade "thousand Big Mac Chic Filet" sauce on the side, it's way better than the original. They also have spicy and reg BBQ sauce on the table, and the burgers are legit. Our server Maki (pronounced like the fish) was amazing, but honestly, the whole staff is top tier. She checked on us at least 5 times, kept the beer coming, and stayed on top of soda refills. Could not ask for better service. Between the World Cup specials and using the cohen DRg app, I did the math and you save about 7% for every $100 you spend. Great value and great vibs. If you want a solo test drive, definitely check out their Thursday all day burger, fry, and beer combo special also fire.

    3 tacos for Taco Tuesday

Visiting San Diego and the fam needed lunch after a visit at SDSU. Looked on yelp and this came up as highly rated. When I drove up, I was a little nervous because the location seemed odd with it being primary residential apartments but there were a lot of cars especially for mid day Tuesday so we went with it. It was taco Tuesday so I got three tacos and the house margarita. Chicken breast taco was so good and the crispy cod was even better. Margarita was good, simple traditional flavor and for $6 it was a steal! We also ordered the street corn, burger with fries and Cobb salad. Cobb was one of the best and chicken was very flavorful rather than bland and dry. Service was fast and super friendly! Never had to wait looking for water, food, check. Fries were tasty and only tip is if you like them a little crisper then ask for that. Taste is great but depends on personal preference.

We found out about this place in restaurant week. First plus point for them is they have the areas for the kids to play. My kids had a lot of fun. All of the staffs are very nice and friendly. To be honest, I didn't put too much expectation on the food before I came but it was a surprise for us. All of the food are delicious and the portion is big too. For appetizers we got brisket chili and best mac and cheese. It was so good. The classic burger is great. The meat is well seasoned and juicy. The best is part fowl sandwich, the sauce is a little spicy kick in and the chicken is juicy. I brought the left over home and the next day when I heat up, the chicken still moist and not dry. We got pecan pie and apple crisp. Both are great and not too sweet. I love the vibe here and will definitely come back

MAKI B is the best server, she is so friendly welcoming and on it. We came for a quick and random lunch on our anniversary and she was so fun and energetic. I feel like that's hard to find in food service, but everyone really was great from the second we waited in line to leaving. We had my mini dachshund with us and it was so hot outside and she welcomed us in to wait by the door. When our table wasn't ready they kept updating us and keeping us in the loop. The staff was friendly and so kind. I encountered the manager also and she was bubbly and fun. We had a real fun time laughing with Maki about an order of ranch, simple thing made fun. I can see how this can turn into a locals favorite spot. Will be back! Ambiance is cool, casual, fun and comfortable.

I was craving a pastrami sandwich, and a friend suggested checking out Del's, located where Nicolsi's used to be on Highway 8. It's a great little spot. I was welcomed by a nice selection of local draft beers, which is always a plus. I ordered the Reuben, and it was done very well. The bread was great, and the sauerkraut had good flavor--I just wished there had been a bit more of it, same with the pastrami. Still, the flavor was excellent. For my side, I chose the coleslaw, which was fresh and had a nice crunch. They also offer a solid selection of BBQ meats that I definitely plan to come back and try. Overall, it's well worth a stop.

I was craving comfort food at the end of the year, December 31st, 2025. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but I decided on a barbecue place by the name of Del's Hideout in San Diego, off of Waring Road. It's the perfect place for comfort food, any kind of barbecue you could possibly want. They have everything and anything barbecue. I didn't want to feel really full or sick to my stomach, so I ordered two brisket sliders. I am not much of a meat eater; I usually eat chicken or fish, but I decided to try the brisket sliders. I also ordered a little cup of mac and cheese. Everything was flavorful, tasty, tangy, and very delicious. I had a very friendly waitress, and the decor is relaxed and casual. They play a great selection of pop and country for a pleasant atmosphere. They had their Christmas tree up and TVs throughout the restaurant with sports on, plus a good-sized bar area. It's just a perfect casual dining spot in a local neighborhood to have delicious barbecue. What are you waiting for? Maybe place this on your dining list for 2026? Happy New Year 2026! . Be safe and God Bless everyone! #sandiego #yelpsandiego #yelp #sandiegocalifornia

I went with two friends who both grew up in the Midwest. They ordered the meatloaf, I got the pulled pork, and we all cleaned our plates. They got a ton of burger option ma too. Sides were on point. The vibe is relaxed, plenty of TV's to watched sports. One of my buddies even said it felt a tasted like back in the Midwest. Staff was super efficient and welcoming. Definitely coming back.

I really appreciate how clean this restaurant is for a BBQ place. Too many of them get dirty and sticky but this place is clean and nice. They have their own parking lot which is perfect and it's accessible for people with disabilities. The service was amazing. Kind and knowledgeable staff all around. We got the platter for 2 that included chicken, pulled pork, brisket, corn bread, jalapeno hominy gratin, Mac and cheese, and beans. All about 60 bucks which is well worth it. The pork was by far the best, so juicy and flavorful. We also loved the chicken and brisket even if it was a tad on the dry side. The jalapeno hominy was AMAZING. Totally worth the up charge. What a unique little side dish, definitely something to try. The beans were also great and the Mac and cheese was pretty standard. I'm also super happy with the corn bread, I been to quite a few BBQ places and so far this corn bread has been as close to my mom's as I've found. Will definitely be back.

Street corn and pulled pork sandwich
    Jennifer C.

Came on a Wednesday as did not realize it was "kids eat free day" so the restaurant was packed with families. My friend and I sat at the bar. They have quick the extensive list of beers and I got a hazy ipa that was delicious. For food I got the pulled pork sandwich and opted for the street corn side. The food was delicious! The pulled pork had such a good flavor and didn't feel super fatty. Bbq sauce wasn't overloaded and the slaw added a nice crunch. The street corn was also surprising in a good way. I think they put a little cotija, lime and some spice as it had a little kick. Service was friendly! I think the only thing I'd say that wasn't great is the price is a bit high. It was $20 for just the sandwich and small side.

Tri-tip & Brisket combo plate with cornbread, bacon potato salad & collard greens
    Eliko S.

We arrived at Del's at about 5:30. It was pretty busy and we were seated at the last four-top table next to the noisy and bright arcade games. This was not the ideal place to enjoy a meal, but we didn't have a choice at that moment. So we perused the menu and made some important meal choices. M. opted for the two meat combo plate with tri-tip and brisket, collard greens, bacon potato salad & corn bread. I ordered the SOB Salad and a side of Mac n' Cheese. Waters w/ lemon to drink. Our waiter was friendly and gave us good service up until our food was delivered, and then he got a few new tables and got a bit swamped. Sadly, although our food came out promptly, it was pretty meh. M. said the tri-tip was mostly fat, the brisket lacked seasoning, and the BBQ sauce was underwhelming and ketchup-forward. He liked the collard greens and the cornbread. I tried the pickles and they were quite sweet and they had a strong and unpleasant aftertaste. I normally love pickles, but these were not it. My salad was huge, and the portion of crispy chicken was generous. I'm honestly not mad about the salad. The mac n' cheese was mild and tasty, but it was lukewarm. I would have enjoyed it more if it was hot. The arcade games got kind of busy while we were eating, and it felt like being in a Dave & Buster's which was not the vibe I was going for. M. nearly got hit in the head by a Dad toting a huge Trader Joe's bag and playing a Ninja Turtles game with his kiddo. So the ambiance of this place is part sports bar - part BBQ resto - and part kid-friendly family funhouse. It's super if that is what you are looking for. After finishing our food, we sat idly for ten minutes, and then a Manager inquired how were were doing. We asked for a to-go cup for the Mac and the check. She asked one of her co-workers to take care of that for us. The co-worker Dulce (sp) came by with the little electronic Toast card reader and said that our bill was $68.34. That didn't seem right to me even with tax, so I asked her to print it out. She came back with a printout and handed it to me. Turns out that the restaurant charges a 5% supplemental fee to "offset rising costs." At the time, I didn't realize (until I researched it while writing this review) that there was a note at the very bottom of the menu that indicated that this charge would be added to checks, but we could opt out if we wanted... so keep in mind that this fee is added, but no one tells you about it. So, long story short, the food is quite expensive for what you get, and the actual taste & quality of the food is hit or miss. I really wanted to like Del's because I'd heard and read good things & we were looking for a great BBQ spot because M. loves it, but unfortunately, today's visit will be our last.

Double order of fries and Texas toast
    Reyman B.

If you get the party plates, know that the sides are massive. We got a double order of fries and we didn't even finish half. Favorite part was the wings. That golden buffalo sauce was amazing. The chicken breast is probably the best I've had at a bbq restaurant like this. It was juicy and tender. A great place to bring a good amount of friends. Service was great and it felt like a local bar but with really good food. They have a play area outside for kids and a couple arcade games to keep them occupied while you eat and drink. Can imagine the place gets lit during Padres games and SDSU games

The place was absolutely packed and had a steady stream of people coming in throughout our visit, so we fully expected a wait. Luckily the staff had things moving smoothly as they could. Although we got our orders in and food later rather late Inside/Outside - 4/5 Kensington Cafe definitely has that popular neighborhood brunch spot energy. Lots of people, lots of movement, and plenty of conversation happening around you. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. My only gripe is that because it was so busy, it could get a bit loud and hectic at times. Not a huge issue, but if you're looking for a quiet brunch spot this probably isn't it. Big ups is the dog friendliness and plenty of water Customer Service - 5/5 The staff were gr10. Even though the cafe was slammed, everyone remained friendly, patient, and attentive. We never felt rushed and every interaction felt genuine. It's always impressive when a restaurant can maintain that level of service during peak brunch hours. They apologized for their delays. Food & Dranks - 4/5 Our table ordered a variety of drinks and food and overall left happy. The Mauna Loa Latte was smooth and balanced without being overly sweet. The Matcha Fruity Pebbles Latte was probably the most unique item we ordered and ended up being a fun combination that surprisingly worked well together. The Strawberry, Banana, Blueberry Smoothie was refreshing and tasted fresh rather than overly sugary. For food, the Asada Hash Bowl was hearty and packed with flavor. Even though it didn't look like a lot, the hash bowl really filled you up. Definitely a good choice if you're coming in hungry. The Peach Basil French Toast was probably our favorite dish of the meal. The combination felt light, fresh, and different from your typical brunch offerings. Everything was good and I'd happily order it all again. Nothing necessarily blew me away to the point of an automatic 5-star review, but it was a very solid brunch experience from start to finish. TL;DR - Overall - 4/5 - Street parking aint so bad - Seated quickly despite the packed hot and humid Sunday brunch crowd - Friendly and attentive staff that stayed cool under pressure - Mauna Loa Latte and Matcha Fruity Pebbles Latte were both worth trying - Peach Basil French Toast was the standout dish - Asada Hash Bowl was hearty and flavorful and packed quite the punch - Can get a little noisy and hectic when busy - Solid neighborhood brunch spot that I'd definitely visit again for happy tummies and good peoples

The only reason I'm leaving 3 stars is because of my last experience. I stopped by about 10 minutes before closing to grab a bottle of water and one of the pre-made meals they already had ready. Before walking in, I even asked if they were still open. The guy said yes, but from the way he talked and acted, it really felt like I wasn't welcome there. He immediately asked if I was paying with a card, and the whole interaction just felt off. I don't usually leave reviews like this because, at the end of the day, it's not a huge deal and I'll probably still come back. I just wanted some food for work the next day and a bottle of water. It was just one of those moments where better customer service would've made all the difference. Shit happens.

We came in for lunch on Friday and had the flatbread and sandwich. Both were amazing! The server was wonderful. She really went above and beyond to make our lunch great. She even wrote down other nearby restaurants and shops we need to see in the area, and recommended we come back during brunch. We came back this morning and had the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Much harder to find a seat or parking on the weekend but worth it. The band was great but had a group of dancers that refused to give up tables while they appeared to be at capacity. Other than that... 10/10 place, food, music, and service.

The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 (and I'm usually a 5-star/1-star girlie) is that we haven't seen Cari, one of our favorite servers, in either of our last couple of visits. Over a year ago now, Cari stepped UP when I became faint and almost passed out on Nate's front deck. It was a hot day, I am BAD at drinking water but great at sweating; and as I stood up, I turned paper white and the world got fuzzy. Cari swooped in the moment she saw what was happening - making sure I was safely lying down, getting me hand sanitizer for my forehead and a wet cloth for the back of my neck (rapid cooling!), and orange juice for my fluid imbalance. I'm so SO glad Cari was there to take better care of me than I take of myself. I miss our nerdy conversations, and hope she'll be back soon!

I couldn't place an app order so decided to just walk in and order as it wasn't busy at all around 11a. There were plenty of workers. There seemed to be quite a bit of to go orders (maybe they placed online on a computer? ). The cashier said the app has been down for all locations today. I asked if it would be a long wait for a sandwich and she said no. She was friendly and ordering was easy. I was handed a receipt. I wasn't really sure where to go or sit so gave myself a tour of the place. There are alot of tables (inside and out) plus the a/c felt amazing even with all the open doors and windows. I thought the sandwich would be a quick order but I think it was almost 15min or so ? I wasn't sure if they call a name or how it's done so I asked someone at the counter and she said they'd call name if you didn't give a phone #. Hopefully the app gets back on track next time as it would have been alot easier/faster with an order of one sammie (esp before the lunch crowd). The Not So Fried Chicken sandwich was pretty good even when I ate it few hours later for early dinner. The extra slaw provided a nice texture and heft to the sandwich. The ciabatta bread was flatter than other locations for some reason. Del Mar is still my fave location bc the staff there is so welcoming and amazing.

This location always is busy and has a line out the door so I figured they're 1) either doing a promo or 2) have something worth standing in line for. My previous experience had been at the Del Mar location (I think it had been pretty good), It was so incredibly hot and humid today (90 degrees) Luckily there were 30min parking spaces available nearby. This location had plenty of a/c . I appreciated the easy to read menu above and also the explanation of items on the windows of items. Staff was nice! They were great with questions and helpful . I didn't realize the base price of $13.95 included the dips and standard protein (like one type of chicken). I didn't really want chicken but didn't feel like falafel . The nice girl gave me a good serving of the greens as my base (take note Sweetgreen). It was nice they also put the dips on the side and didn't make anyone feel like it was an inconvenience. They were also generous with the dressing too! My bowl was hefty and will make for two meals for me. My favorite components of the bowl included the base (really liked the shaved brussels sprout & kale) and marinated baby tomatoes. The eggplant was pretty smokey tasting (not really my thing but still tasted nice on a hot day). Packaging was study and clean. I would absolutely return to this location and try other other toppings/dressings.

The last time I ordered in person, the portion was much bigger and actually felt worth the additional cost, so the difference was pretty disappointing. I also wasn't a fan of the to-go sauce containers being placed directly inside the bowl. Not only do they take up space that could be used for the actual ingredients, but having the outside of the containers sitting directly on top of the food doesn't feel very sanitary. I usually enjoy CAVA, but this delivery order definitely didn't feel worth the price. I guess I'll have to start ordering in person if I want to make sure I'm actually getting my money's worth.

The food tasted homemade and delicious and after getting to know the owner I know that she spends a lot of effort and time preparing these dishes. I got the kicha fit-fit and the ga'at, both of which I recommend. The ga'at tastes so unique from anything I've ever had; it's got the look of a bundt cake but it's a savory dish with barley flour, yogurt, and spiced oil. This is best eaten while it's piping hot. The fit-fit was also great but there was so much food that I had to take this one home with me. The owner was kind enough to let me try some lentil sambusas and even though my pants were bursting at the seams I ate it all. Highly recommend trying this place especially if you've never had this kind of food before. AND THE COFFEE! It has a no frills selection but that coffee is out of this world good. The owner roasts the coffee beans herself. She brought the raw ones out and they're light green in color but hand roasts them in small batches- by small I mean she carried the roasted ones in a straw trivet the size of a dinner plate. By looking at this establishment you wouldn't know how gourmet her coffee is but I'm telling you you have to get some when you're there it's some of the best coffee I've had I absolutely love these kind of restaurants and am posting here to give this owner the recognition she deserves for such an awesome place. The restaurant is small and street parking only but if you want a foodie culinary experience this is the place to be.
