This is probably the best walk-in haircut I've ever had. Maybe even better than some scheduled appointments, elsewhere! Lol I needed time to kill and just so happen to also need a haircut. I took a chance and walked in and asked if there was an availability right at 10am on a Saturday (of Easter long weekend) To my luck, there was! The front desk girl, took me back right away and gave me a salon robe and brought me over to my hairdresser, Genta. Everything went so smoothly. Genta washed my hair, asked what I wanted and got to work. She even gave me a blowout, curling my entire head with just her round brush and blow dryer. My hair was so pretty! Got a hair cut and wanted highlights. Was told to go with a balayage without any explanation or notice of the cost, so I naively agreed assuming the same cost as what I had asked for. Hair dresser also refused to give me a shorter cut because "longer hair is prettier". I was astounded by the cost of everything at the end of it all since I did not initially budget for the balayage, which the dresser didn't communicate the cost difference. Not doing that again... Only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because if Jasmine. She deserves a 5 but I have had bad experiences. Jasmine is by far the best one to see here. She is sweet and listens to what you want. I went in for a balayage one day and it came out amazing (thanks to jasmine) but you have to pay for a blow dry... I figured my coupling would come with one but nope. I waited a few days to post this to make sure what I really wanted to say came out clearly! I'm a pregnant woman already feeling unsure about my looks and so this is the reason I waited..to make sure that it wasn't 'emotions' or hormones speaking..and so I still really don't like my hair cut!! I went to Curio on Saturday (it's now Wednesday) and saw Jacky. Her service was friendly but the cut is just too...ugh! I showed a picture of a LONG bob, the length was about arm pit length. I had really long hair, down to my mid back and she started cutting. It looked ok when I left because of course they style it. Three days later, I'm annoyed and disappointed at how short this is. Not only is it at chin length at best, I also asked her to make sure I could tie it up, which I can't!! So obviously, it is cut way too short even after showing her pictures, asking not to make it too short and specifying to still be able to tie it up! My once long hair is gone and I need to wait for it to grow back because she doesn't know what or how to cut a long bob. I'm so disappointed and now I feel kinda ugly... not the best way to make a pregnant woman feel. So thanks! read more

Went to get my hair dyed for the first time ever, showed a photo of what I was aiming for and asked if it was possible. Was told yes, but that it would take two appointments to get my dark hair as light as I wanted. No problem on my end there. I was given Hamad, the manager, to work on my hair. He was quiet, very negative, rude to his employees and even went as far as making a sexual comment to his receptionist right in front of me. I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time as he was complaining about his incompetent staff to me (which was all he spoke to me about). During my second appointment, he left me halfway through the appointment to take on another client that had walked up during my time. He left me with whatever chemical in my hair for over an hour. I was sitting there, twiddling my thumbs, not knowing what was going on or how long I would be there. After a 4.5 hour appointment, I was starving and very ready to get out of there. I was charged for the second appointment even though I was told at the first one that I wouldn't be. When all was said and done, the colour was NOTHING like what I asked for and the bottom 4-6" of my hair are so dry and damaged, they are breaking off every time I brush my hair. 7.5 hours + over $400 to get something very different than I asked for is not what I call a good experience. I had gone in for the balayage special because of a gift certificate I had gotten online. Although Samra was amazing and I'm in love with my hair. When it was time to pay they had said my gift certificate didn't work and was forced to pay with my credit card, Hamid the manager promised me that they would contact head office so I can get a refund for the gift certificate. After calling everyday for a week straight and having them promise me they'll get back to me about my refund I had to contact head office myself because no one from the salon would get back to me. read more

After paying and seeing my son cry I wanted a full refund which I got! but not before I had to listen to the owner's idiocy stating that he would have to take the refund out of the pocket of his own receptionist! Uh here's a news flash, just because you're a glorified moron, doesn't mean your customers are. I can't understand that with online ratings and so much completion you would provide such trash service. But then again you should read your own employees say and that ex-employees admit that people who work there do so as a result of not being able to secure employment anywhere else. I have been going to this salon since about June of this year. I was sooo happy when I found our that my old stylist works there. Her name is Maja and she is AMAZING!! I get balayage and I am never disappointed when she does my hair, after she does my hair I get soo many compliments on it, I do highly recommend her! She is a guru when it comes to colouring. Not only is she a great colourist, but she also does amazing cuts. She always listens to what I/ you want and what I like about Maja is she knows if the colour or cut wont/ will work for you, and if she thinks it wont she is great at recommending what will. I trust her judgement 100%!! She is after all the professional when it comes to hair! SO happy I found her again!! read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER - DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON TRUST ME!! As a customer I have never felt so disrespected, misled and bullied. After spending over $1000 for the hair extensions and service, I am so disgusted by the service of this salon, the owner and the staff. Noone took accountability for this mishap. If a salon has certified staff, the expectation is that they should know what they are doing regardless if its their first day or years of work. My advice is read reviews before investing your money with a business. Had I done my homework, I would have NEVER stepped my foot in that place. Also, beware as same owner for various salons (Curio and Tonyc) at different locations!!! The lack of professionalism at this salon, I still can't come to terms, I am spreading the word to family, friends, social media in hopes they this place stops taking advantage of clients like myself. Ok where do I begin??!! 1) Wanted to get great length fusion hair extensions 2) Salon ordered me the hair 3) Hair stylist just got her great length licence, salon wanted me to sign a waiver which I refused 4) Stylist installed my hair extensions 5) A week later, a few extensions slipped off so I didn't pay attention. Then after the next wash, a few more and so on. Out of 3 bundles - I now have 1/2 bundle and it's been a little over a month after installation. 6) After many many disputes, the owner offered me free install, however, I would have to pay for the hair as I was warned the stylist just got her license. Why should I pay a penny for anything if it was salon's fault??????? 7) I called Great Length. They were shocked by the whole experience as Great Length takes pride in their product and they said they would discuss with salon. 8) Great Length called me a few days later and said salon would call me to resolve this matter. 9) Guess what - it's been 3 days and no one called!!!! I went there on Friday hoping to get a nice balayage and haircut. I saw Briana. I didn't like the colour I got so she toned it again and instead of getting a balayage I got dark brown hair. She did the hair cut as well and I've never had a haircut that lasted a minute only. I asked for LOB and i got just a straight haircut. Then, she said to talk to the Manager Hamid if I don't like my hair which I did and he said to come back so he can fix it. I went there yesterday and OMG, he made it worse!!! Now I ended up having yellow almost orange highlights. I am heading to Sally Beauty now to buy a haircolor so I can cover my brassy hair. I am so disappointed. I want to start off by saying be aware of this salon. There was a review written last week, that seems to now be removed (please view the review I am speaking about under the Tonic page that has not yet been deleted). The review was regarding a woman's horrifying experience regarding her Great Lengths hair extensions, I too had the same awful experience. Here is some background on mine... Prior to making the decision to have bonded hair extensions installed I did my due diligence to learn about the different options. It was recommended by majourity to go with a brand called Great Lengths for bonded hair extensions, as this specific company only allows "certified" hair stylist to purchase their hair, ensuring both quality of the hair and knowledge of the installation process by the certified stylists. After reaching out to a few salons to get some information, I came across Curio hair salon. I made an appointment and a few days later met with a gentleman named Hamid. Hamid quickly did a consult on my hair, gave me a price and instructed that I leave a $500.00 to order the hair. A week later I met with Hamid to have the hair installed. At about 9:00pm the salon was closing and Hamid had instructed me that we still had approximately an hour and a half to go so he would ask that I pay now so the receptionist could balance her til and close for the evening. To my surprise the price that the receptionist was requesting was nearly double than what I was told originally. Reminding her I paid a deposit already, the receptionist went to speak to Hamid. He then told me that he would be charging me extra because he cut the extensions. I told him I would not be paying for a decision he made and did not inform me about. After leaving me humiliated, in front of the staff and leaving me feeling "cheap" I told Hamid that I would not be paying the additional $700.00 (In addition to the original $1,300.00) and would leave with what was installed as is. He said he would do it this time but never again. He finished and sent me on my way. The next day I had realized that the hair extensions were not correctly blended and that I had already lost two extensions overnight. I called Hamid directly and he instructed me to come back and he would correct the cut. When discussing the loss of extensions with him he said that my hair was naturally oily and a couple falling out was normal, even this soon. I trusted his words and left the salon. After one week I had lost approx 8 extensions and noticed that after 1 week the hair felt rough and looked awful. As I continued to lose hair I tried contacting the salon several times with promises to return my calls and nothing. I then went to another Salon (referred to me) and got a consult. The hairstylist explained to me how the bonds were not installed properly, that they were attached to such small pieces of hair that it was actually damaging my own, furthermore, that the hair that was installed was not even Great Lengths. I had luckily brought in a few strands that were "extras" that Hamid had sent me home with and showed her to compare. She then showed me how all Great Length hair is packaged and how the individual strands looked (much different than what I had received from Hamid). She also informed me that to allow clients to leave with Great Length hair extensions is against Great Lengths policies (I will be contacting them to inform them of what occurred). In conclusion, I was left paying $1,300.00 for my hair to be damaged, no extensions left, "fake hair" and having to pay to get it redone. I now go 6 months with the same extensions (not losing more than 2 extensions in this 6 month time frame). This salon did not only take my money, lie to me about the type of hair, but completely disregarded their responsibility to provide quality customer service. The staff are misleading, unqualified, and truly unprofessional. The owners should be ashamed of the type of work that occurs in their salons. I will NEVER speak a good word about this salon or any that are affiliated. read more

I have never posted a review online, however i had to this time. Went as a walkin for a haircut, before a party. There was only a level 1 available. Asked her whether she new how to do layers as that was all i wanted along with some bangs. She said she was able to do that. Washing hair was fine. However not satisfied with the haircut service. She did not know how to cut layers. I had to specifically tell her one by one which pieces to cut. It Was so unbelievable. Hair was not evenly cut. I asked her to cut layers shorter so there would be volume. She did not listen to what i wanted. I even showed a few pictures of wat i wanted. Does not look anything close to that. Even though i said i want volume, she flat ironed it in a way that there was no volume at roots. Layers are choppy and not blended properly. I just called the salon to talk to the manager. The receptionist put me on hold and then came back saying they will call me back later. Didnt get a call. Called again, said manager will be back in 10 mins. Its been 2 weeks now. Such shitty service. DO NOT GO HERE. read more
