With every inch of hair length, my age reduces a year. Earlier this week, I had plummeted back into my teens. I found myself at a casino with the desire to get in only to exchange some currency. I tried to get past security but the guy did not believe that I was the legal age of 19 (as he told me) ... so there I stood while he ran my ID through the slowest scanner in Canada and gave me the stink-eye. It was time for a damn haircut. Of course, I was on vacation in another country and had no idea of where to go within my budget/preferences. I headed downtown and stopped in the first place I saw to ask for their prices/if they took walk-ins. Fortunately, Natural Solutions was both within my budget and was taking walk-ins! Ron was available to cut my hair and thank goodness! I told him what I wanted: two inches off, angles, bangs cut. I didn't have any pictures. Yet he completely understood my in-brain idea, because he's been doing this hair stuff for years. He was super efficient and I was in and out of that salon in an hour's time. He told me I now look "21," which is still a few years younger than my age, but hey, that's fine! Now I need to find a similar stylist in Philly. I wish I could just clone Ron or fly him down whenever I need a haircut (oh, dreams). I definitely recommend this place! read more

I got my hair cut by Aki as recommended by a friend. She did a good job on my hair. I was amazed though how fast it al went. She washed & cut my hair in about 35 minutes. I like my haircut. And will see how good it looks as it grows out. I would consider going back here again. The salon was clean with a lady coming by to sweep the floor after my haircut. I was looking for a hair salon in Toronto, and when I received some pretty snobbish attitude at L'Attitudes Hair Salon in Eaton Centre, I came across Natural Solutions on my way home. I was disappointed to learn that it's the same owner for both salons, so naturally, I was afraid of the same "treatment" here... However, the receptionist at the Natural Solutions was much nicer and friendlier, so I decided to book my appointment. Pros: - Great location (steps from subway and mall) - Friendly employees - My haircut turned out nice - The price was good (about $40) - They were not pushy about trying to sell their products Cons: - No parking - The hair brushing process was very painful. I have had this experience at some salons where a hair stylist starts brushing wet hair in a rough manner from roots down. That's just wrong! I learned that few years ago and I can brush wet hair easy and painless. But when I go to the salon - oh, it's painful! ---------- So lesson for the hair stylists: When brushing wet hair, start toward the bottom and brush down, moving upward only when you notice no tangles in the previous section. If you start brushing at roots, you'll have to fight through more tangles to get to the bottom, thus promoting breakage and weak hair. read more

I had a day off so I decided to drop by for a manicure. I thought to myself: I might as well go to a salon, pay more but have a better experience rather than the nail places around town. Oh my was I wrong. I got inside and asked for a pedicure, and then got ushered into a back room, very crammed with very poor lighting. That room was dirty and there were skincare products everywhere. I was greeted with a dollar store basin with some soapy water to get my feet soaked. Ok fine, this might still be good. Then the lady started filing my toenail. OH WOW SHE WAS ROUGH! She kept taking my foot by grabbing it strongly to re-position it, which hurt quite a bit. The file kept touching my toes and I had to pull my foot away a few times. She then insisted that she had to cut off my ingrown (I have a podiatrist who does that, no thank you). She told me not to move because the nail clipper was very sharp. I said OK but then she dug in so deep that I had to pull away my foot, and she made a BIG cut in my toe. Sh then proceeded pouring two small bottles of antiseptic onto my toe. For the rest of the manicure she kept yelling at me and asking my why did I have to move. Really? All that sketchiness cost me in total $52. WHAT? I waited so that my toenail would dry and the nail lady probably told the hostess of what happened, who then proceeded to give me a pile (around 15) of Dermalogica samples. IT DID NOT HELP. I am never going back there. read more

I went in last night for a wash cut and style. I asked for bangs. I've gotten bangs many times before and this is the WORST job by far. I explained to the lady FOUR times that I wanted longer pieces on the sides. What did she do? She cut them shorter on the aides and longer in the middle. Wtf? And on top of that she cut off random pieces of hair from te sides of my face ( not symmetrical, totally random, def was a mistake). I went to another stylist who confirmed that this hair cutt was def not done by a professional. The fact that I paid $70 for this just makes it worse. And also, the left side looks completely different from the right side. By the way, the stylist's name was Martha. She kept reassuring me with "I know how to do bangs don't worry" and she did this. Then as if I wasn't agitated enough already the esthetician rushed me out and in doing so cut up my eyelids, both of them. They were both bleeding and for the next week had scabs. the worst place to get your hair done. When I walked up to the front desk it was not bad until this korean lady saw me and helped me out. The reason was because she thought I was Korean. She first started asking me questions and then once she found out that I was not Korean she got quiet and just rushed me out. The way she blow dry my hair was to flip my hair upside down and said that this was faster. my had hair was a mess after I had so much hair flyaways just sticking up like I was electrocuted. When I asked her about it she said that there was nothing that she could do about it and just sent me away to pay. It cost me over $100. It was just a quick trim and no care in blowing drying my hair. I would never go there again and would never recommend it to anybody. read more

Got my eyebrows threaded for the first time ever here with an aesthetician named Hannah. She was recommended to me by a co-worker. I'm not beauty savvy so being in a salon/spa type deal makes me very uncomfortable. Hannah is an articulate and experienced professional who was also quite friendly and made sure I knew what was happening at all times. The threading only took a few minutes and turned out looking wonderful! I'm not sure if this salon is a good fit for my tastes in services but it does deliver well. In a convenient location it's probably good for the locals who work/live in the area or quick fixes. read more

I've been going here to the same hairstylist, Renato, for ten years. I completely trust him with my hair, he understands all types of hair (my whole family goes to him as well), and he knows the way I like my hair to look. I've never been happier with a stylist. In terms of the length of the cut, I have a lot of hair, and it typically takes about two hours for a cut and colour, and considering I don't cut my hair very often, I'm happy for it to take a while. For the salon in general, I have white people hair, and a lot of it, which most salons know how to cut, my mother has very short curly white people hair, and my brother a large white fro. My best friend has half way between black people hair and white people hair, and she also goes there and gets as amazing haircuts as I do (she goes to Christina, who she loves talking to while she cuts her hair). So yes, they can do the hair, all of the hair, definitely worth the price because the cut will last you a long time. read more

I came in for blowdry and a manicure, and I would definitely recommend Tyson and Lorna. Tyson was great- he was fast, efficient and essentially replicated the photo I showed him; in the end my hair looked amazing! He also provides excellent client service, and allowed me to read magazines on his ipad while I was getting my hair done. Lorna did an excellent job as well- best manicure I have ever had. AVOID THIS PLACE! This salon is terrible. They have untrained staff and are unable to cut your hair properly. I showed them a picture of bangs and wanted then longer to end at the bottom of my eyes, which is why I went through the trouble of brining a picture. She cut them so short that they ended in the middle of my forehead! I complained and the receptionist said that I still had to pay for a portion of it and called security to ensure I paid. read more

I went in for an eyebrow wax. The woman doing it was nice enough but did not ask me anything about what I wanted. I assumed she was just going to clean them up, which has been the case before. I walked out with pencil thin eyebrows and it now looks like I am constantly winking at someone. One is much higher than the other. I look ridiculous. Got an a-line bob cut by Ron here a few months ago. He was AMAZING. I had extremely long hair and this was my first time going short so I was super nervous. He really put me at ease and ended up doing a wonderful job! The only reason i'm giving it a four star rating instead of five is because Ron has apparently left this location now and the receptionist said that they "didn't know where he went or where I could find him." -_- Was so disappointed. I've been seeing Jane every six weeks for about a year. I love her! She is great with wax and thread, amazing with nails, and just an overall cutie. If she ever leaves the salon I don't know what I'll do! I've had Matt do my hair and he's amazing. Firm hands and touch make a great shampoo experience. You may or may not get a good haircut. I had a senior stylist and they did a good job the first haircut 6 weeks ago, but on my visit yesterday, he over-layered one side of my head so it looks shorter than the other. I told him so right when he finished, but he said I was mistaken. I came home last night and went to bed. In the morning I re-wet it and styled it and sure enough, one side is shorter. I called the salon and asked if I could come in and they said they could fix it. I didn't want the same stylist to fix it because he doesn't acknowledge the problem. My family members all agree it is shorter on one side. Another stylist at the salon agreed it was over-layered, but because it wasn't a severe and glaring mistake, I should just let it grow out. I agree there is no point cutting the other side shorter to cover the mistake. That's it. No offer to refund at least a portion of my money, no acknowledgement that I was upset at spending $95 on a haircut I am not happy with. Management there does not care about the customer, only getting your money. Roll the dice if you wish, but be warned, if they make a mistake on your hair, you are on your own. I won't be going back. I'll take my $95 somewhere else where they have competent hairdressers. BTW, the $95 is for a haircut only, doesn't include colouring. read more

I love getting my hair coloured, cut and styled by the lovely Kristine Jordan at the Natural Solutions location at the Eaton Centre. She truly knows how to treat my hair and make me look great. The last time I had visited her (Labour Day long weekend), she had coloured my hair (balayage in chocolate and toffee) and gave me a quick snip to perk up my style and boy oh boy was I truly happy with the result! She is such a sweetie too! The price of all that loveliness is not cheap, but so worth it. read more

I love my hair stylist, Martha, at Natural Solutions. Martha has been my hair stylist for over seven years. I followed Martha to Natural Solutions, from her previous work place because I did not want to change hair stylists. It is difficult to find someone who consistently does a great job on your hair style and colour. I saw that Martha got a bad review on this site. I find it very hard to believe that she did a bad job on any hair cut. She is an excellent senior stylist and colourist, with years of experience. I would never voluntarily change hair stylists, as long as I can go and see her. I will keep going to Natural Solutions, as long as Martha works there! read more

I followed Tina to Natural Solutions after she left Elmwood Spa - she also used to cut the boss lady's hair, which she always wore in an Anna Wintour-like bob. Tina really knows her stuff, she's a very bubbly personality and likes to chat it up. I once came to her with a terrible cut that I had done to my hair at home (too short, uneven ends, no layers), and she fixed me right up so that it would grow out looking good. I know that I can put my hair in her hands and walk out liking what she does. My hair is fine, longish, with bangs. She knows how to layer and add texture into my hair. I would recommend Tina to anyone. read more

i booked an appointment yesterday, at the Eaton Centre, after I asked the prices. i requested the $45.00 stylist. I came in today for my appointment. Keep in mind that I had washed combed and dried my waist length hair, so the stylist did not have to wash my hair or spend an hour picking the knots out of my hair. I asked for a trim. One inch. and some layers cut into the front around the face. She spent 10 minutes cutting my hair, and about half an hour blowing dry my hair that she had only misted (which was pretty much dry anyway). And then she proceeded to tell me the service was $75.00. Her name was Afroz. For the FIRST time in my life, I did not leave a tip. i dont mind spending that kind of money on a haircut, but let me make that decision. No bait and switch. To top it off, the front looks like I got angry and started hacking my hair myself, it will grow, Thats the one good thing. if your getting your hair cut here, agree on the price when you sit in the chair. read more

I want to send a big compliment to Jen who does my hair. She always does an amazing job and is extremely friendly! She somehow always understand the exact style I am envisioning. Last week, my mother wanted to fix up her freshly grown in hair. She had just finished her last cancer treatment and was left with no hair following chemotherapy. She wanted to feel good about her hair again so I recommended Jen! My mom was very afraid to damage her short hair any more but I convinced her that Jen would do a good job. I couldn't make it to the appointment with my mother so I called ahead and ensured that Jen would understand the whole background story on fixing my mom's hair. WOW. I saw it today for the first time and it looks phenomenal. Additionally, my mom couldn't stop talking about how amazing her experience was. She loved Jen! My mom talked on and on about how Jen was just so friendly and knowledgeable and skillful! She also complimented her beautiful new engagement ring was, and by her tone, I am sure my mom was feeling slightly jealous!
