Curious Escape Rooms is a wonderful venue that has a truly unique and memorable escape room called The Dollhouse. On a whim, me and my boyfriend reserved a spot to play this room while hiking in the area and, all I can say it, we will definitely be returning to try out their new room. Below are three of the main reasons that our experience was so great. To give some context, I have played over 10 escape rooms in the area, I help structure puzzles in escape rooms, and I am an overall avid fan of escape rooms. 1. THE THEME At first I was a bit skeptical of a dollhouse theme. It is a risky idea that could be challenging to make immersive--and Curious Escape Rooms exceeded expectations. The room was charming, yet creepy, nostalgic, yet unsettling--it's hard to describe how perfectly the room designers took so many bright colors and common objects and made them work together to form such an uneasy feeling. Now, the room is by no means scary or horror related--but, you'll see what I mean where something in the room are...unsettling. There were bursts of nostalgia from my 90s childhood with the props that were used and, more than a few times my boyfriend and I stopped in our puzzle solving to say "I remember having one of these!" It was such a fun room to explore--and boy were there so many things to explore. 2. THE PUZZLES Now, it's one thing to design a cool looking room, but to synthesize those props into some awesome puzzles is a further challenge that Curiosity Escape Rooms does perfectly. There were a few familiar puzzles presented in new ways--but the majority of the puzzles were very unique. Many puzzles require several components to solve, which leads to the room participants to do a lot of exploring and digging around. There were several A-HA moments where items that seemed to be useless suddenly became important for solving a puzzle. I wish I could discuss some of my favorite puzzles in detail--but you'll have to check them out yourselves. Just remember: look EVERYWHERE. 3. ROOM OPERATION Curiosity Escape Rooms has a very good style of room operation. The room operator communicates with you via a monitor in the room and provides hints as needed. I LOVED how our room operator would ask if we wanted a hint instead of just providing one--which is a nice touch. There was also a very slight problem with an object in the room, and the room operator paused our timer for us to come and fix it--which was a nice gesture. When we finished the room, we could ask questions, review the room, and decompress without being rushed along. My boyfriend and I were able to escape as the first 2 person team to make it out and it left us with a wonderful experience. I would put this room in my Top 3 favorites, and I have played some really impressive and well-designed rooms. Now that was a good time! I've done several escape rooms and this one might be the best one I've done. The owners are friendly and engaging. The room was challenging and logical. The room we did is the Dollhouse which is a refreshing change from all the prison escapes and mad scientist labs. The props are unique - lifesize dollhouse furniture! The puzzles were fun and the owner is more than willing to give you a nudge in the right direction if you start going off into the weeds. That's a big plus to me. Too many escape room owners treat the experience as a competition, them vs. you. They are stingy with clues and many will penalize you in some way if you get one. Not Curious Escape Rooms. Not only do they want you to succeed, at the end they walk through the entire room with you, showing you things you might have missed. That was a new experience for me and it was greatly appreciated. I brought my family to Curious Escape Room (kids ages 15 and 18).We had THE.BEST.TIME. A great bonding experience for our family - it was fun, cerebral, and slightly creepy. I loved the owner Audry. She was so engaged with her business. She took the time to answer all of our excited questions before and after our time in the dollhouse. Although I bet she's answered the questions a million times before, she answered them like it was the first time someone had tried her dollhouse - her enthusiasm matching ours. She was genuinely happy we were there and it was very obvious she LOVES her business. We headed across the street to Chaibo for fondue (cheese & chocolate) after our session. We spent the night dissecting our approach, how we will do it next time and what we enjoyed about the experience. A GREAT family night I won't soon forget! We had a blast, this was our first attempt. We found the room to offer a story or whole team would enjoy. They enjoyed it. We truly enjoyed Audrey, she made us feel comfortable, and helped us get into it. The set was awesome, the clues were even more amazing. There was so much thought that went into it. The dollhouse is unique with one of a kind puzzles. I wish they had more rooms so i could go back quickly. Fun fun fun. I would recommend this for anyone. The lobby is also cool with puzzles and brain teasers sitting around, very quirky feel right from the start. Come early! read more

Try it, you'll like it!! We had so much fun trying to puzzle our way out of the 1999 video store. I highly recommend it! We went to celebrate my son's 13th birthday with his two older brothers--17 and 19. Four of us was lots of fun, but I recommend going as a larger group. There are so many fun puzzles to solve and clues to decipher, you'll need the help. :) I was worried it was going to be too easy; it wasn't too easy. This was a lot of fun, and a great team game with my friends and I. We did it with 6 friends. This seems to be a great number..... between 6-8 people i'd say. Very unique experience, not scary at all, but your a little anxious and excited because the 60 minute timer is counting down the whole time.... Many little puzzles to figure out.... good to have other people there to help brainstorm. Great place to go to do a team building exercise... then have coffee or drinks and dinner afterwards to talk about it! Chaibo, Destare, Beemers are all right in the same block. My group of four had a great time playing the Dollhouse room. The difficulty was not too hard and not too easy, which we liked. Although we didn't beat the time challenge (by 2 seconds), we enjoyed it! The owners were friendly and definitely committed to the storyline. Definitely a must for groups on Fitchburg. Me and 5 of my friends did the Video Vault. It was complicated but in a fun way. We solved with about 5 minutes left in the hour with 2 hints. It was set up really well, hints were not giving away anything and still made you think. Can't wait to go back and try the dollhouse! Curious Escape Rooms is a unique, fun, and overall fantastic experience. The room was challenging, and I'm happy to say we made it out with only a few minutes to spare. Can I give it six stars? Loved the really keen retro hair dryer chairs in the lobby. As soon as Audrey threw her arms out and said "welcome" she had me! This is a great and well thought out puzzle! My team and I had a blast! As escape games go this one is filled with great logic puzzles and riddles. It is not super physical (no running jumping climbing) which made it great for younger and older alike. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun hour! read more

This was my fourth venture into escape rooms, and we had a great time. Interesting puzzles, some nice red herrings and our third victory equaled a challenging and entertaining day.
