WE ESCAPED! Me and my 2 friends came here and did the Kidnapping 2 and it was the best escape room of my life. Our game master was niki aka Siri she was wonderful giving good hints that didn't give it fully away but we like barely used any. It started in the dark so if you don't like that I wouldn't recommend this room but if you think that would be fun I would definitely do it I had a amazing time! Worth every star given. read more

We had a pretty good experience here. Our guide Adam was terrific - he gave us the clues we needed in a friendly and helpful way. We had a mixed group of children and adults of several ages. We weren't quite able to solve the room, but that was more because of the chaos within our group than an issue with the room, I felt that the room was challenging without being frustrating, and that if we had been more organized we probably would have been able to solve it. My one complaint is that there was a gun-based puzzle in our room - we were all very uncomfortable with the idea of having to handle a gun (an obvious toy, but nevertheless) and I felt like this was out of place and not terribly appropriate. I guess I would have appreciated a 'trigger warning'... :) read more

My family and I have done around 15 escape rooms in a couple different countries and many different states. This was one of our favorites ever! We did The Speakeasy and it was more of a scavenger hunt type game than a logic game and that's what we enjoy. We managed to escape but with only about a minute and a half left so it definitely kept us entertained for the whole hour. We will definitely be back for more Breakout games! read more

Extremely frustrating experience. Families can't finish these puzzles because they make it so ridiculously complex. The lights are off, ridiculously difficult coffees to decipher I'm San educated person and consider myself off some intelligence. But damn, I just want to enjoy myself and not ask for help from a game maker who half the time is laughing at you because they know the answers. For goodness sake, have gone here 3 times, the rooms are all dark and there's always a overly complex puzzle which just needs more time. If they didn't have a one hour limit, or a way to make things easier for a family, then maybe I'd go back. Right now, three frustrating times is enough. I barely ever right reviews - that's how overly annoying and aggravation I think this place is. read more

We came across this APEX entertainment building because it was super close to our hotel and noticed Breakout Games in the building. I've done multiple escape rooms in my hometown but I can honestly say that Breakout Games was by far very intriguing and fun to play! My family and I played Casino Royale the first time and Kristin was our game master. She was extremely helpful in giving us clues (especially since only 2 out of the 7 of us have played poker and we needed more help understanding those rules) and we ended up breakout out with 2 minutes to spare! We had so much fun that we decided to come back the very next day to play and there was a wheel to spin to even get an additional discount since we booked so quickly again. The second game we played was Mystery Mansion. This game felt harder and we got frustrated faster but it could also be because we had a party of 7 so too much was going on at once. Thankfully, we still made it out with 7 minutes to spare! I would still highly recommend coming here but don't recommend having such a big group- haha. read more

I've always wanted to do an escape room and my experience here was good! The staff there was friendly and fun. The girl at the front was patient and dealt with one of our friend's weird and loudness. Our game master was fun friendly and knowledgeable. The breakout room we paid for/put in was the casino room. I was with 5 other guy friends and most of us hav casino knowledge/experience so I had no doubt we'd win but at the same time I also had my doubts cause I've never done one of these and didnt know what to expect. The casino room was overall fun for me and my group. The game master girl "helped" us here and there but we didnt ask for any help and we solved most of the puzzles, although not in order but we beat it. They were super sweet and accommodating of my service dog, who just relaxed while we ran around! Sadly, Apex down below were horrible to us and we were forced to cut the day short. Breakout Games - Winning with less than a minute left was really exciting - Escape Games Near Me - Marlborough, Massachusetts

TL/DR; Good staff, disappointing environment. Went in with a group recently and tried an escape room by this company for the first time. In years past, I've done other escape rooms by 5wits, including TOMB in Boston and their 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea in Foxboro, so I have to compare this experience to those others. This experience ranges in cost from $24 to $38 per person depending on the group size, and is located in the Apex Center in Marlborough which has a bunch of other attractions. There are different themes, and we chose one somewhat randomly, and made reservations in advance. The staff there was very friendly and helpful, and you will have to fill out a waiver form on a tablet device when you get there. The 5wits experiences I had been to involved getting your group to solve puzzles and move between multiple rooms during the hour. I was disappointed that with Breakout, our group (7 people) were crammed into one fairly small room (MAYBE 10'x12' max?) and there we stayed for the whole experience. This was not ideal; most of the puzzles were linear, with solving one thing leading to another, and most of them were ones only one or 2 people could work on at a time, so a lot of the time, some of the group were just standing around, or more often, having to move to some corner of the room to get out of the way of the couple of people working on something. There is a "guide" who watches via camera and gives clues when the group requests - and they specifically say they won't give clues unless the whole group agrees - but while we did have to use it a few times, he also gave out hints we didn't ask for, I'm assuming as a way to keep the group moving and prevent people from getting frustrated. With a multiple room experience, you can all move apart and work in teams - at the same time - to solve one type of puzzle, then advance to the next room where you kind of know the next puzzle will be different. But in the one room, they had to combine a lot of different types and I thought some were really not intuitive, so you get set on solving one type of thing, and the next puzzle is a completely different thing. It was OK and our group enjoyed it, but I personally will keep looking for a better designed multi-room experience. Maybe Boda Borg will be next.. read more

I'm so glad I was able to experience breakout games! Definitely challenging to say the least! Challenging enough but if help was needed they assisted! Staff was super friendly and professional. Breakout Games provide a large variety of different challenges. My group of friends and I decided to do kidnapping. We ended up getting out on time. Each puzzle connects to one another, some were their own hints while others connected to a bigger hint. Definitely want to come back and try a different challenge the next time. read more

Overly involved guide. Every few minutes we were told not to touch this, not to touch that. I got yelled at not to write on the LAMINATED sheets with a dry erase marker. The guide would also make unwarranted remarks/hints (without asking for a hint) when we were simply talking through clues. She told us what items didn't need to be used or were already solved, without asking her. I got so agitated with her incessant comments that I stopped participating in my group. Four of us had a fabulous time here yesterday as part of my sons 30th birthday celebration. We've done escape rooms all over the country, and this is one of the most satisfying experiences we've had - just the right mix of challenge and opportunity for success! The clues weren't easy at times, but they ALL made sense and weren't so far out in left field that you couldn't get past them without help (anyone who's done these rooms before knows what I'm talking about, right?!). Super fun! I wasn't sure if I was going to like this, but I did! I have never been to another escape room place so I can't compare. I went as part of a mom and daughter group with my 11 year-old. Afterward she was jumping up and down. She wanted to go again! I'd recommend this for a group outing, teen birthday, etc. Seems like this would be more fun to do with friends than strangers, since so much involves working together. My entire group of 8 experienced our first ever Escape Room today with our Gamemaster Rob. It was extremely difficult as my entire group and I had no experience and thus, had no idea what to expect! Rob was extremely kind, helpful, and understanding! I still had a blast with this maze but found this breakout game very linear in nature. The clues and setup was fun for the museum heist scenario, but I found the room setup and quality of decor a bit underwhelming. The game master was also a bit insistant about giving us hint even though we were having fun just struggling along. Fun but if you want a higher quality decor maze with a less linear story line (meaning more people can be involved) i would recommend other escape games like escape games worcester. read more

In the past month I have gone to Breakout three times and about to go to my fourth. We did the rooms: Do Not Disturb, Museum Heist, and Kidnapped. All of them are so amazing and are full of very intricate puzzles. Adam has been our game master a couple times and he is wonderful! If we ever needed a clue he always steered us the right way but never gave away too much. I love escape rooms and really find this place to have great options!
