I love Curl Power salon. They have been instrumental in helping me learn how to care for and style my wavy-curly hair. I've been going to Leah for over a year and she is easy to work with. She also gives the best shampoos in the game which is the best part of the haircut experience. At curl power they don't push products and Leah is happy to explain how to better use the products I already have at home. I went here and got a cut a few years back and loved it, but when I returned and could not book with Emily I was treated horribly. I booked online where pricing wasn't transparent so when I showed up to the appointment and told her how much money I had brought (it was $100) she told me that it was insufficient for the service I wanted (pintura highlights w/curly cut). That was fine, makes sense but then when I asked what my $100 could do for me she said nothing and that I had to the front desk and pay the $50 cancellation fee. I left in tears and literally cringe every time I hear about curl power salon now. I'm sorry, this was in 2019 so I don't remember the second hairstylist's name but Emily was amazing so that's why I'm putting two stars down instead of one. read more

I really liked how it looked when she first did the dry cut; it was exactly what I wanted. But then after the wash and dry she just... kept cutting. It was supposed to just even out the stragglers, but it ended up being *a lot* more than that. Now it's extremely short and narrow at the bottom, and the fringe is way too short and sticking straight out, which it's never done before. It's just not the haircut we discussed at all. Now I'll be spending an awkward month waiting for it to grow out. I've been trying to be positive about it, but honestly I'm pretty bummed, and the more time I spend with it, the less I like it. This studio specializes in curly hair for anyone and everyone. They not only provide the expertise is cut and color but they also educate you on how to do your hair. They understand how different peoples curls behave differently and ask a ton of questions to understand your routine, habits and hair experiences so they can help you love your curls! I am 28 years old and finally understand the difference between products and styling techniques! Just to give you and idea about the magic these trained stylist can perform, I went from medium brown to lavender and still have long curly hair to show for it. It was a lot of work but they educated me through and showed me the products I needed to use to ensure I didn't loose my curls! The cost does not equal results. I've been getting Deva Cuts for a few years now. Over those years the amount of silver in my hair has increased. My first and last trip to Curl Power was about eighteen months ago. When I made the appointment I told them that I had about half a head of silver and that my silver hair was very different than my brown hair. I told them I might need someone with more experience. I was assured that my stylist would be able to do a great job. The stylist wasn't able to go off-script. It was the same spiel, the same products, but now with a slightly demeaning undertones about how to care for my curls. My hair looked great walking out of the salon. I was never able to get it to look even a quarter of what it did that afternoon. One major hurdle is that I can't see the back of my head and know that the curls are forming correctly. I can see what is hanging down in front of my face as I sit in my shower. The other issue for me is that Curl Power does not take hair porosity into consideration. Because of that NONE of the Deva Curl products work on my hair. The brand loyalty that Curl Power - and all Deva Cut certified salons - exhibit are limiting and not in the best interest of the clients. Last but not least is the fact that I keep unsubscribing from theri mailing list and I keep getting added back on. I even get the unsubscribe confirmation page each time it happens. read more

I saw Savannah and she totally rocked my hair! We did a bleach with fashion colors, I gave her artistic freedom and my colors that she used are absolutely beautiful and vibrant. She really listened to me and my concerns not wanting too much cut off my hair as I'm trying to grow it out, she took the time to go through my hair and only cut what needed to be cut. I loved coming to this salon! I went over a year ago when I was in Minneapolis- I live in La Crosse. And I have not gotten my hair cut anywhere else since; I've just been growing it out! I intend on returning soon when I can get up there again and am looking forward to it! I've always enjoyed Devacuts when I've had them, and they've always lasted a long time, but going to an all-curly salon...it can't get much better if you have curly hair! It's even more fun. First-time visit to Curl Power and first time at their Edina location. Having just about given up on ever getting a good haircut for my type 2-ish hair, I scheduled a dye-only visit with Carolyn. Her expertise, patience, and genuine interest in what would look best were amazing. She took time to discuss styling and daily upkeep to determine what would work best for my lifestyle. Received a full PINTURA for the first time from Emily. I was dissatisfied by the results, because I had asked for a light/medium brown balayage and received copper/honey highlights instead. I told Emily that the final result was not what I had expected, especially the color. I then realized 12 hours later that the bottom layer was not colored, so the blending looks very unfinished on my black hair. I had called to see if I could have Emily fix the bottom layer to match the rest of my head. I received a phone call from Curl Power, and they said that I would have to pay for them to finish what I had originally paid for. Their explanation was that I had already received a discount, that I was not told about, so I would have to pay for a partial pintura in order to have Emily finish the work that should have been done in the first place. I was very disheartened by this information and found this news to seem as though I was to blame for the unfinished work. read more
