I've been looking to change up my hair stylist for some time now and after some research I found Michelle DeMartino. After reading pervious feedback, I booked an appointment and crossed my fingers. WOW was I beyond satisfied with my experience. Making an appointment was easy and friendly. When I arrived I was introduced to Michelle who did my color and cut. She was warm, funny and a wealth of knowledge. I was feeling uninspired with my long hair and lifeless ombré. Michelle put me at ease from the moment i sat down with suggestions and solutions. She talked to me about the color process, then took the time to explain the cut options and possible outcomes. Michelle takes pride in her work and is a true artist in her field. She is knowledgable in all facets of the beauty industry and made my trip to the salon an experience. Needless to say, I left the salon with a great cut and color. Now two months later my color still looks fresh and my cut is drying exactly how she said it would - and it's great! I have tried almost every hair saloon around Astoria for fifteen years. I was very lucky last year as I met with Michelle. She is the most talented colorist and the best hairstylist I have ever seen. As Emma mentioned "She listens to what her client wants and gives them that. That is priceless." That is exactly how I feel about Michelle. It is really hard to find a stylist who is willing to do what you want as most of the time they will do what they thing will be good. If there were ten stars I would definitely give it to her. I started going to Michelle years ago with my aunt and cousin. I remember being blown away by her passion, honesty, and skillfulness in that first visit. She was serious about her craft, but also super down to earth. I have very curly hair that I would typically just pull back into a ponytail to avoid frizz. She really listens to what you want and how you want it, the entire process is a conversation that you feel apart of which keeps you feeling in control--very important to anyone (me!) who has had a colorists go rogue on your hair.
