I went in with a terrible cut done by a friend that needed fixing but I didn't even know how bad it was, I just knew I needed someone I could trust with my hair and immediately I was set at ease by Adam who taught me more about my hair than I even knew. Seeing as I'm anal about my hair, he was so good at checking in with me to make sure it was what I was going for along the way and I was so grateful he saw my vision and made it a reality. I have thick straight hair and currently have a pixie cut. It can be hard to find someone who can understand my hair AND style. What a lovely salon and such friendly stylists! I was warmly greeted at the door and was quickly shown to the station. Vesna came out within a couple of minutes and she spent quite a bit of time talking to me about the type of cut I was looking for. I explained to her because of my rheumatoid arthritis, my hair is very thin and I lose it very easily. She talked to me about the type of cut she thought would not only look good on me, but also would put the least amount of stress on my hair. She also gave me some great tips. She and I chatted easily and she definitely went above and beyond making sure my layers were even. In the end, I love my new look and couldn't be happier. I will definitely be returning! I've recently moved into the neighborhood and wanted to find a salon I can stick with. I saw Vesna's review here and decided to book an appointment. I didn't have a good idea as to what I wanted to do with my hair (I wanted to keep the length but also cut it short lol) but Vesna was very helpful- we ended up cutting the front a bit short to keep the hair out of my face and giving me long layers. She didn't pressure me to get a blow out since I usually let my hair air dry and wanted to see how it would look normally. I'm so glad so many people favored this place in reviews for the area because I was in desperate need of a haircut and got a great one here. When I went it was the last appointment of the day, which was nice, especially during this time. Tanya gave me one of the best shampoos of my life! i was very relaxed for my haircut. Tina cut my hair thanks to the reviews and was great. I showed her photos of inspiration of what I wanted and she delivered. She took a buzzer to the back of my head, which instilled fear (apparently this is an European technique), but as you can tell it turned out wonderfully. I haven't been able to style my hair this way again since I got it cut (I told Tina I'm terrible at straight styling!), but have gotten lots of compliments on the short hairdo and am looking forward to going back. Went in for a cut with Milan, quite reluctant since it was my first time there. Having experienced horrific hair stylists in the past, I did thorough research before I scheduled an appointment so I was hoping I wasn't in for a disastrous experience. The moment I walked in, all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Milan was all ears when I explained to him what I wanted. Considering I was chopping off a foot of hair, I wanted to make sure everything was discussed in detail. I felt a sense of relief by his attitude. I was sick of my Pandemic hair and decided to try Studio Tim (a few weeks ago) since it got great reviews and is a short walk from my apartment. I booked with Milan - he was very nice and polite as well as really attentive. He took the time to look at the pictures I brought and discuss my treatments with me (He did balayage/ombre with ash blonde highlights and trimmed exactly the length we discussed, with precision). I was beyond happy with Milan's excellent work and left with a big smile to match my freshened up hairdo. There were 2 other stylists (Tina and I think Pedja) - I didn't get to chat a lot with them, but everyone was warm and friendly. I watched her build her business from scratch together with her partner Milan and create this amazing hair studio in Astoria. Being quite picky about who cuts my hair, I can say that I truly enjoy her style and feel fully comfortable with her. She listens her clients and gives feedback, rather than just "doing her own thing" and get to the next customer. But she can also convince you to try new styles and even for a hair-conservative guy like me, that worked pretty well. About the studio itself, it is clean and nicely decorated. I haven't cut my hair for about a year since my previous hair dresser messed up my cut. So last night I decided it was time to try somewhere new and found Studio Tim through yelp. I then requested an appointment stating my name and asking if they were available the next day for just a cut about 2-3 inches. Surprisingly, I got a response in less than like 5mins at 10:30pm! So they won me over versus other salons immediately. Parking can be a bit tricky on that exact street, but I was able to find ample parking on 33rd street by "Mom's Kitchen and Bar" which was a quick 20 second walk. I showed up at 2pm as scheduled and Tina was ready to go. I didn't happen to get the gentleman's name, but he was extremely polite as well (I also saw him cutting a male's hair which looked phenomenal like those viral videos you see on Instagram). When you walk in, you'll notice immediately their studio stylish, clean, and warming. Also asked if I wanted coffee or tea which was very sweet. Now to the cut, I have really thick and long hair. In the past I could tell my stylist were starting to slack, but Tina definitely took her time with extreme attention to detail. She saw the flaws from my previous cut before I even mentioned it which was comforting that she clearly isn't just a professional, but an expert. She showed me examples from her iPad from previous clients and asked for my preference. It's obvious she's a perfectionist and cares about her clients, hard to find that these days. I've lived in NYC for 13 years and for a long time I was a "Manhattan" hair salon girl. I've also bounced around several places in Astoria but I never found a place where I wanted to become a loyal customer. All that changed with Pedja and Studio Tim. I have big, loosely curly (somewhere between 2b and 3a depending on the day/weather) and I am VERY VERY picky about how handles my hair. I booked an appointment with Pedja and he understood exactly the style and length I had in mind with the first five minutes of our consultation. He has a passion and an unsurpassed skill for creating an amazing look. He is also laid back, mellow and very easy to talk to. I am a big introvert so I can sometimes get nervous around people but there were no awkward silences and he was great about checking in with me the whole time. The finished look was EXCELLENT. Studio Tim is a true neighborhood salon with an upscale feel. I truly believe you get what you pay for, and the prices are fair for the end result. I was scared to try a new salon as I've been loyal to my hairdresser since I was 13, however since moving to Astoria it's a schlep to go to Long Island for a 4+ hour hair appt so I took a chance on Studio TIM and I am extremely pleasantly surprised! I wanted my balayage cooled down, more ashy and less brassy. When I showed Milan the pictures of my goals I was strongly warned my hair would likely not be very close to these photos due to my base color and the coloring I already had done, but he would try his best. When he started blow drying my hair I was shocked at how blonde and more importantly, how ashy and almost silvery, it came out. As he continued to blow it out you could clearly tell it was just as ashy all over, including my darker base. It was absolutely stunning and even better than I imagined! The only reason I deducted one star is that even with a new customer discount, the cut, color and toner was more expensive than I'd anticipated based on the price that was quoted when I made the appointment on their website ($260 when it came out to $297). I think they had to add the toner, and possibly charged more for the color because my hair is so thick and long, so I wasn't totally shocked. Hopefully this will last a long time and I'll only need a toner every few months to keep the brassiness at bay. Overall very good experience, it's a very cool looking space and they have water, coffee and even wine if that's your thing. The staff is really friendly and accommodating as well! read more

Pedja was available so he did my cut instead.
