I had 50+ Sony mini DVR tapes for transfer to hard disk. Tapes were labeled in numerical sequence oldest to newest, rubber banded together in sets of ten. Two problems: 1) Technician did not transfer tapes in sequence so historical order on drive they transferred DVR's to was all messed up. So that's a few hours of my time reviewing, renaming and sorting mpeg file names. 2) CP tech added their sequence label to the DVR cassette cover on the side of the cassette cover where the cassette notes were written. Not deal breaker but irritating none the less. Placed several calls to let them know to have better attention to detail for next customer. No call back. A few times called during regular biz hours and phone message said thanks for calling after hours - business is closed. Happened multiple times so not a fluke. Go there and check them out - they may do a great job for you. The stacks of plastic bins with people's orders piled willy nilly behind the front counter should have given me pause. read more

Only go here if you want a gigantic headache! I dropped off film with them in June and was promised it would be done in 2 months. I was relieved because I informed them I needed the film back by Oct 1. He laughed and said that would be no problem! When I called to check in after 2 months in August I was told "we are finishing up the last 2 tapes, they should be done very soon". I explained again that I needed the tapes completed prior to Oct 1. They ensured me that would be absolutely no issue. Well Oct 1 came and I called to inquire again and was told "we are finishing up the last 2 tapes, they should be done very soon" ONCE AGAIN. After much back and forth, they said I could come the next day to pick up the film. I go to the location I dropped them off, there was a sign saying they moved over 10 miles away. No one on the phone bothered to tell me that. I get to the new location and there is ANOTHER sign saying they are in another location! I felt like I was being punked at this point. Finally I found the location, I was given no apology, no explanation, just completely over charged for film. I would never recommend this unprofessional place to ANYONE! read more

I had a couple of ancient reel to reel audio tapes that I wished to get transferred to digital. I took them to Current Pixel in late June. They told me that they were backed up with orders and that the job would take about three weeks. On July 20, I made my third phone call asking about the status of my transfer job. They said they expected it would take another 3-4 weeks. They said their turnaround was now about 7 weeks. I decided to give up on Current Pixel and try another firm. I went to the shop to retrieve my tapes, and I saw chaos. You can barely walk into to the shop because it is stacked with hundreds of plastic boxes containing jobs waiting to be completed. Right now, Current Pixel is anything but current. The company is overwhelmed and does not have the ability to complete transfer work in a reasonable time. They need to increase their throughput capacity, and do it soon. Until then, my recommendation is to try another company to get your tapes and films transferred. read more

I love these people and am so glad I found them rather than sending off my most precious family memories in boxes who knows where to one of those places advertised on the radio. Everyone here is very friendly, knowledgeable and seems to care a lot about about the customers and the quality of their work. I've had them scan and/or digitize: precious family photos some 100+ years old, Including the writing on the back of some of these, loads of old slides, negatives (including a bunch that turned out to be photos my grandpa took during WWII in France), 8mm films from the 40s, VHS tapes, and audio tapes that are living letters my grandpa sent my grandma during Vietnam. So far everything has turned out great. Physical items are returned in good shape as provided along with a thumb drives holding the digital files (they'll offer to put things on your thumb drive or sell you one at very reasonable price). The files are organized well and they take time to explain how everything is organized (including slides put in numbered folders so I know where everything came from and can cross reference my grandmothers handwritten descriptions on the boxes). I would gladly trust this company with any project no matter how old or precious the material. I should note they will also tell you if they encounter anything that they aren't sure you'll want - like they contacted me when one of the old 8mm films I found turned out to be an old Disney cartoon instead of family home movies, to see if I wanted it digitized (I didn't). I had some very special mini dvd's that I needed to have made into the regular size. I sent 14 to current Pixel. My contact person there was Sean. He was extremely helpful on the phone. I live in Ca so I labeled EVERYTHING to avoid any mix ups. I also sent them signature required. Sean knew I was nervous so he let me know as soon as they arrived. All my videos are excellent quality & my memories are on DVD so we can easily watch them. I recommend watching your DVD's before storing them. I had a box filled with old 8mm film reels all of old family videos...my parents wedding, grandparents anniversary party, my sister and I at Christmas, Disney and sleighriding...I had reels going back to the 1950s...all kinds of stuff. It sat there for years...what a shame. Video Impact converts old Super 8, 8mm and other media to DVD and CD. It was great to watch these old films and rediscovering my past. They are quick, do a great job, and have friendly service. This is not the type of service where you try to find the lowest cost...you need pros...and these guys are trustworthy. I had a small but important (to me) project that the manager continually and encouragingly told me I could probably do myself on my home computer - he even offered to show me how to once I arrived at the store because he felt bad taking my money. Due to overwhelming circumstances and crisis' in our life right now, I just didn't think I could wrap my brain around it and asked if I could hire them to do the job - there was no hurry, I just needed a professional to take over this task of compiling several photos and videos from different sources and put them together in one space. He did it right then and there while I waited! It only took a few minutes and he charged me a the very minimum price. We recently had our very old tapes (at least 20 years old) finally converted to DVD. It was a very straight forward process that took a little over a week. The time was probably reasonable because of the amount of tapes we had. This is not an inexpensive process but you would not want to trust your precious memories to just any old Joe would you? Watching my husband watch his dad, (who is now deceased) being interviewed about his life was so special and bitter-sweet. Used this service as a present for my parents for Christmas. I had ten VHS tapes converted to digital. I had originally intended to send my tapes to one of the big name services but decided I wanted something more personal. Though it took some time (as these things do) the staff at Current Pixel was always available to take my calls and assure me that my families precious memories were in the best of care and in the process of being transferred. This is some of the best money I've ever spent! Tim at Current Pixel is courteous and professional. I dumped off two large boxes of professional and personal tapes ranging in formats from VHS to 3/4" and Beta SP and he transferred everything.
