The paneer tikka masala came in a huge portion size, and the flavor was bright and just the right amount of spiciness. The paneer taco was just as good, with a taste that was a unique mix between a cool yogurt sauce and the subtle paneer spice. The taste is quite different than most normal Indian restaurants around town, since Curry On advertises itself as "Indian street food". We were visiting Ann Arbor for a college visit and spotted this on the way to our AirBnB. What a find! We wanted to try their kathi roll once and fell in love with the food that we are already planning to get our brunch here tomorrow! We tried the 2 kathi roll combo with chicken tikka and butter chicken as well as the big curry burrito. A must try for anyone who loves butter chicken! Chicken was tender and flavorsome. The sauces inside the roll were delicious. Spice level of the butter chicken was just perfect. Portions are good, I ordered the above mentioned items for a dinner for 2 people. Good food for a great price. I don't know how busy it normally gets, but I was there around dinner time (let's say 6pm?) and it was my small group of 3 and one patron here and there. Maybe it's more of a carry-out place from what I noticed. The butter chicken was just a hair from perfect. I can't give any fine details as to why - it's just a taste thing. It's so good and tender with sweet and savory. Maybe it could have used a bit more spice to give it a kick. But I get it, I assumed and didn't ask for any. That's probably on me. Despite being a lover of Indian food and driving past here regularly, somehow I never remembered Curry On when we decided to get take out. Stopped on a whim for dinner one evening a couple weeks ago and found I'd been missing out. I got the butter chicken and thought it had a near-perfect blend of creaminess and tingly spices. Tonight we tried the chicken tikka masala, shahi paneer, and the samosas. Samosas were good--thick and stuffed with a spicy veggie-rice blend. Brown sauce was definitely better than green. The tikka wasn't quite as good as the butter chicken--it had heat but not the subtlety of the butter chicken's spices, and the sauce was a little thin--but it was still enjoyable. I did like the chunks of green pepper in it--soft but still slightly crunchy. The paneer cubes in our other entree were a little dry, and I don't know if I'd order it again. Will definitely return for the butter chicken, and would like to try the chole as well. I do wish they had more vegetable dishes--I'm a meat eater, but some of my favorite curries are vegetarian. Service is prompt. My orders have been ready when I was told they would be, if not sooner. Prices aren't unreasonable for what you get. The portions are good, and this isn't supposed to be an Indian Panda Express. I've certainly paid more for Indian food I liked less. read more

I've had this place on my "need to go to" list forever and regularly pass it after my weekly coffee date with a friend. One day I finally decided to hit it up, bringing home several dishes for lunch which was more like a tasting for a wedding (sometimes I go overboard). The food is very, very good. It's fresh tasting and besides some traditional, standard dishes there are some really interesting and unique choices on the menu. For a first time visit I stuck with the standard fare but I look forward to my next stop when I will vary it up a little and stop being so safe. That will probably also bring about an update with an additional star. Besides great food, the space is incredibly clean and inviting. If yoy like Indian food but are looking for a quicker and more casual setting, check out Curry On! Unlike most Indian restaurants, the entrees are all priced under $9. The portions are a little smaller but it still is quite filling. The butter chicken and rice ($7) was a thinner curry and the spice was more mild than hot. The samosas ($3) were a great appetizer. The mango lassi ($3) was more yogurt-y than mango-y. I give this place 4 stars simply for the friendly staff, fast service, and competitively priced food. We were looking for some quick food to take on the road with us, so we saw Curry On and it was indeed fast service. The inconvenience of eating in the car may be partially our own fault, as we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Buttered Chicken. I was mostly disappointed in the take out containers. You would think that a take out place would have better containers rather than Styrofoam tubs saran wrapped a million times - a major barrier between me and the food. The food itself was very average. The Tikka Masala tasted like a creamier tomato soup. The chicken pieces were very large, which was good. The Buttered Chicken had very little chicken and too much Pepper and onion in my opinion. In general, this is a great place for fast Indian food. read more

This is the best Indian food I have had in a long time. Very well made, aromatic, good texture, delicious. I am so grateful for the color coded menu that says what is gluten free (many things) and what is vegan. Try the onion uttapum which comes with great sauces. The green one is some kind if coconut sauce that is really good with pretty much everything. My favorite thing was the Rose Faluda with basil seeds. Good Indian street food However on sustainability you score very low. Non-reusable plastic glasses, styrofoam containers, plastic silverware. The recycling bin next to the trash is so small and inconspicuous that it makes it an environmental nightmare. Decided to try this place after seeing many positive reviews on Yelp and because I love my street food. Came in super hungry with someone and decided to try all the things that you would get if it's your first time getting Indian food. We got the butter chicken with rice, a chicken tikka masala roll, samosas, chaat papdi, and a mango lassi. Butter chicken with rice - I did not have much of this but the few bites I did have were very typical of what I would expect from a creamy sauce with chicken. Definitely comfort food that will fill you up with a lot of leftover rice. Chicken tikka masala roll - basically an Indian version of a burrito without rice but the roll that they use is nicely warmed and buttery so everything melts in your mouth. When I think of chicken tikka masala though, I think of a creamy bright orange sauce that this roll did not have. Regardless, the flavors were still very good. Samosas - I've had better samosas at Madras Masala but these are almost as good. My only problem with them is that they were fried a little too long and tasted just slightly burnt. Chaat papdi - My favorite dish! It was also waaaay larger than I expected. It is basically lots of small fried pieces of dough which serve as the "chips", with a lot of sauce on top which include a yogurt sauce, some different kinds of chutney, lentil strings and diced tomatoes. What caught me by surprise was that this dish is cold because of the yogurt sauce. However, the flavors are so wonderful that it didn't bother me at all. This dish can be shared between 3-4 people and is generally on the heavier side. Mango lassi - pretty standard from what I've had before and yummy For a street food place, this restaurant is pretty clean and workers are nice and patient. This is a 3.5 star review. The feel of the place is fast food/hole-in-the-wall. Lots and lots of take out. I think in the time I sat there I saw about 70 percent of the people were all picking up. I got the butter chicken, gobi manchurian? and sev puri. The manchurian dish was actually really great, deep fried cauliflower in semi-spicy sauce. The butter chicken was meh, it wasnt as creamy as I liked... but the sev puri was really good. It was like an Indian version of nachos. Crispy rice shells filled with chickpeas, chutney and yogurt. I've been to Curry On three times with very mixed results. The first two visits featured prompt service and hot, tasty food - paneer tacos and a butter chicken wrap. Tonight's visit left much to be desired. Hoping for something simple and quick, I ordered two chicken tacos and two paneer tacos. I requested no onion on all the tacos. When I arrived ten minutes later, I got the impression my order had not yet been put into the system but the front of the house remembered my order and special request. I waited another ten minutes and the front of house informed me my order needed to be remade because onions were put on the tacos - no problem. Ten minutes later, my order emerged. I received four room temperature tacos with onions. The front of the house employee specifically confirmed my special request as she received the tacos from the kitchen and I heard the kitchen say "Yes!" I think I received the original tacos that were made incorrectly. I can pull off the onions but room temperature was disappointing. The reason I may not return was the apathetic response from management, no offer to remedy the mistake, and the bad product. The woman answering the phones, accepting payments, and taking orders was very sweet but wasn't in a position to make it right. If management responded to issues with her enthusiasm for customer service, I'd be recommending this place without hesitation. read more

I had been frequenting Cardamom until I realized this place was not only closer but half the price! Please as ever, I ate here about 3 times in a week. Third time around, I'm not starving so I'm sort of playing with my food. Every other bite or so had a semi hard, strange texture but I thought nothing of it. Anyway, I wipe away the sauce to see a very strange piece of "chicken" exposed. This chicken is BRIGHT pink. I mean, not raw chicken pink. Just a very odd pink. I googled. I gave benefit of the doubt. I thought, maybe it was marinating in something... pink... for hours? It just didn't match up with the sauce. The texture itself was worrying. Omg so good! Fast cheap and delicious! As with all Indian food it's vegan veg friendly. They have chicken and they do it really well. I love their lilva kachori (deep fried bundles of green peas). Walked in to nobody at the counter, two employees chatting at a table, and we were pretty much ignored for a good few minutes. Despite not being able to get what we were hoping for, we ordered a mix of other things: samosas, veggie biryani, masala dosa, veggie cutlets. Food was fast, but when we got back to start eating it, it was pretty...meh. Samosas and veggie cutlets were pretty good, textbook, but hits the spot.
