I ordered three sheets of 24 gauge aluminum to be cut to a specific size and was told that my 10 minutes worth of work would have me wait a week. It's now been eight days. I called to find out the status and I was told that they haven't even got to my cuts. That would take about 10 minutes with the proper tools that I'll have to wait another two days. Since it's Friday , I suppose they should be ready on Monday and this review will be continued at that point. So for now you get one star. I may update that later, but probably not. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was looking for a diamond pattern plate. Was quoted by one person $1200 then was quoted $1000 by another. Then when we came to an agreement on a sheet of metal and were ready to pick up the order I was told they don't have it in stock and would have to cut the piece so they can sell it to us. Then was called by ronnie and told they don't have it in stock and cannot fulfill the order anymore because they don't typically sell a 4'x8' sheet and can sell us a whole 4'x20' sheet. If they don't sell that size sheet why would it be in their system as stock???? Salespeople are a joke and will never do business with them ever. Wasted 3 days when I could have been looking elsewhere. As a business that is unacceptable. Worst experience with a business I've ever had. read more

I had an immediate need for some large diameter pipe. I saw the reviews about these guys crapping on a small-time customer and was a little concerned. But I called the sales reps and told them I didn't know much and to walk me through solving my needs. They had the pipe I needed in stock, they made me a deal on cutting it to fit my application and they are delivering on my schedule. The fella on the other end was funny and not condescending at all. Selection / Product Inventory: Hard to beat even when compared with suppliers in other cities. Service: If you're not someone they know, service can be surly or even aloof. It's like they know they are the biggest supplier in town and they don't have to put an emphasis on customer service. Price: Locally they are very reasonably priced. But when compared to similar companies in other cities they are a bit on the high side. They are NOT open on Saturdays so if you work 9-5 M-F, unless you get up really early Curtis is not really an option for you. It's why I'm giving them 2 stars. For many creative types who would buy from them, their hours make it very difficult. It's like they might as well not even exist. This is a business that seriously needs real competition. read more

This place is awesome, they've got every dimension of steel you can think of in stock. I came in looking for some scraps for a small project. They had just what I needed in the scrap area, they'll cut it to length and the best part, it's only $0.50/lb! What a deal! They let me scrounge through their scraps and let me go in the back and look for what I need. They put up with my ignorance and lack of steel vernacular and I put up with their rolling of the eyes. He got there in plenty of time but apparently all your guys had already started drinking beers for the day and couldn't help him. He was literally told that! Started dealing with one of the counter help, he walks off mid conversation to bullshit with another employee. So, I start dealing with a different guy, this prick comes back and gives me attitude? Had an exchange nightmare! Ordered aluminum and they delivered steel. Ok, no big deal, just exchange it. WRONG! 7 calls over a week and I still dont have the right product. I had the boss in sales tell me it was "on the truck" two days in a row only to have the original order still sitting on my dock. After waiting 2 weeks I have picked up what I needed and cancelled payment on the original order. Who knows if they'll ever come to get their steel back.... read more

Good location but they don't have much competition in the Vegas Valley so I think the prices are pumped up a bit more than if they had a major competitor. This lack of competition also makes them not care about marketing. Every time I call for pricing and availability the people give you a feeling you are bothering them if you aren't a big player and building a casino. No reflection on the yard guys,,,,, they are helpful and friendly....also the effect shows in lack of a web site with prices and inventory that would eliminate me bothering the counter help and let me estimate my own jobs.....but they are the big player in town and I'm just a little guy....I would give them a 5 star review if they would get a web site with prices and material. As an artist and small time tig welder this place is heaven. It is a huge commercial facility with knarly guys driving million pounds of steel around on forklifts and they are the nicest helpfull people on earth, and they treat you like you are a million dollar customer even though you are digging through their scrap bin for small pieces of aluminum or steel. They sell tools and equipment too. I love this place! read more

I adore Curtis Steel. I am a buyer for a tier 1 supplier for Harley Davidson Motor Co. Being that we are a Just In Time manufacturer, we need suppliers that can handle everything that is thrown at them.Tom Vanatta is my rep and he is awesome. He always deals with each and every need that we have with more then acceptable accommodations. The rest of the staff is amazing, we have never had even one issue with them that they have not dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. I marvel at the poor reviews. So, this is an objective professional opinion. This opinion comes from a 5 year business relationship that myself have with Curtis Steel. I think what most consumers don't understand is that they are NOT a priority with a few hundred dollar need. Curtis Steel does consumers a favor by selling to them in the first place (MOST suppliers WONT, mainly because the average consumer is more trouble then the purchase is worth!). It amazes me that consumers think that they should have the red carpet rolled out for them when they are paying WHOLESALE pricing for top of the line material for VERY TINY QUANTITIES. If you want someone to cater to your every expectation, go where you are paying for that service (ie: HOME DEPOT or your local contractor). This woman is cracking me up complaining that she and her husband went to find that they had already been off drinking beer for the day! Just silly,,, So these off clock employees had been drinking... And you wanted them picking up and helping with steel? Forget about the workers comp liability and the laws that prevent such a thing from being acceptable! It just amazes me at what the general public expects! They do not have a retail business model! If they did, it would cost a lot more for the material. They are mainly B2B Supplier (distributor) that ALLOWS the public to come and shop for material at a ridiculously low profit margin. Yet ,most consumers seem to have this spirit of entitlement. The majority of these poor review read like 'Ugh... Okay, so they had what I needed and no, I didn't have to shell out a fortune. BUT THEY DID NOT KISS MY ASS for a couple of dollars in material! They SUCK! I can virtually see them stomping their feet and pouting. Hang on lady... Let me call the Delusional Consumer Police Dept., Entitlement Division! They will undoubtedly dispatch a WHAAAAmbulance! You can complain that they won't help you with the metal either! Can't help but to sit here bewildered at how convicted she is, righteous in her stance! To the buyers/business owners out there considering Curtis Steele, I very much recommend them as a supplier. They are awesome to work with and provide EXCELLENT customer service via outside rep and other inside support. They have consistently worked with us to make sure that our target pricing and supplier goals are met. JIT manfacturing is a beast in the Automotive industry! There is constantly a fire to put out. Sad sad sad, after calling and visiting with there Showroom counter personal yesterday and all the gentleman in the warehouse I must say the miserable bearded wonder, and short answer no personality counter assistant REALY need to spend some time in the warehouse learning about how to be Customer Pleasant assistants. The bearded wonder wouldn't even look up from his counter space to answer questions, and stated I'm busy with my paper work when I a temped to pay for my items and when his assistant decided to step in he was rude, short answered and made no effort to answer any of my question, making it obvious he had better thing to do than be of assistance. I suggest they spend some time with your warehouse gentlemen because they were so helpful and pleasant they reminded me of what real Customer Service is.
