Good beer. Great pizza. Friendly staff. Plenty of room inside and out. We like it a lot. It's a stop for us on the way home from Whitetail or anytime we're around 81. It is 5 minutes from the 70/81 interchange. A 12 oz pour of most beers is around $7 (which I think is a tad high when you are buying from the source) but it is cheaper than their Columbia location and much friendlier. Lower ABV beers are in 16 oz, pours for a similar price. They also have cocktails and in the summer a smoothie machine of adult drinks. Pizza is also on the pricey side, but it is excellent. (Check out the Tiki restaurant on your way out for more beer and completely different food options.) read more

"If you want to go to a brewery that is super loud from obnoxious drunk people singing karaoke and others cheering them on, this is your kind of brewery." I hate giving any brewery less than five stars because 99% of them deserve it but this is the 1%. TBH: I'd like to think I'm a brewery connoisseur considering I've been to hundreds of them over the past ten years but this one might be the worst one I've ever been to. I've also drank hundred of different craft beers from a lot breweries I've never been to in a multitude of states where friends have went without me and brought different IPA's, Sours, Stouts, Porters, etc. back to share with me. I'd say this place is more of a super busy bar in an area with not much to do other than go to this place which also happens to sell pizza and brew their own beers than it is a brewery. Breweries are always chill and relaxing and this place is nothing of the sort, at all! The location is also right beside a busy interstate so when you are outside you are literally listening to and watching cars drive by. We walked in on a Saturday evening and it was wall to wall people which is a great thing for the owners but over time that can't be sustained because that kind of crowd will end up costing you true brewery enthusiasts because I've never once been to a brewery and seen a person drunk or anyone causing a commotion. The whole point of drinking craft beers is to enjoy the different flavor complexities and/or to enjoy their seasonal beers while also enjoying others company. You ever see people at wineries slamming glasses of wine to get drunk while screaming at the top of their lungs? Exactly! I love the whole style of this place which is industrial and the artwork is amazing. We had a couple sours that we shared which were amazing tbh and I wish we could have enjoyed them or more over a good conversation that we typically have while going from brewery to brewery but we couldn't even hear ourselves think over the super loud environment and bad karaoke lol The peanut butter and the strawberry shortcake sours were amazing, I must say. I'm sure this place is great for the people who live close by and go daily or on a weekly basis but this isn't my kind of brewery that is in a cool old building or off the beaten path. I'm coming to a brewery to relax, talk, people watch, and possibly play some type of board game or cards they have on the shelves. If there happens to be a night where I am at a brewery and they have live music which not many breweries that I have been to do its usually more open mic and mellow, not concert level speakers. Anyways, this place is great for college kids and bikers but not my kind of vibe so I most likely will never come back no matter how great their beers are. FYI: I wouldn't mind ordering a pizza for pick up from RAD Pies the next time I am in the area and taking it to another brewery and enjoying it there because their pizza did look pretty good. Cushwa Brewing Company is a small brewery located off of Interstate 81 (I-81) in Williamsport, MD. Cushwa offers a good variety of locally brewed beers, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks. The bartenders are friendly and work hard to keep the venue & bar area tidy. If you're hungry, Rad Pies, is located inside the building, offering pizzas, sandwiches and a small selection of desserts. Depending on when you visit, you could have a chill experience or you could be bombarded with loud noise ricocheting off the walls and floors. I came to Cushwa during Oktoberfest time and they had these cute steins available for purchase. They also had a fun competition while we were eating where a row of about 10 people stood with a mug of beer and they competed to see who can hold their arm straight out the longest. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and we sat outside with our dogs. We had a great time and look forward to coming back again. read more

Inside also had a great vibe, equally spacious & welcoming. (note-they offer delicious smelling & looking pizzas & though we didn't partake this visit, I would recommend based on what we saw others dining on-the pies looked hearty loaded with toppings) During our visit, a very nice bartender spent time with me providing feedback on their beer selections, allowing sampling, and suggesting what to try based on my taste profile- as IPA lovers they made it really difficult to narrow down what to drink since everything had such a unique profile- overall we tried 3 off draft & based on his personal & informative suggestions even went for 1 blind can pour; then even bought some to-go, as the beers were fantastic. Stopped by Cushwa on a Saturday afternoon after a bit of shopping at the Hagerstown Outlet Mall.  It is in the back corner of an industrial park.  So if you think your GPS is broken, it's not.  Just be a little patient and it will get you there. The atmosphere was vibrant and the venue is wide open.  Pros, the beers are fantastic.  Cons, they only do 2 five oz. Pours at a time.  Makes me sad because it limits the beer tasting experience.  And doesn't lend to an awesome beer flight Pic.  But who cares... the beer is exceptionally good. There were only 2 servers on our visit and they didn't stop moving.  The place stayed packed.  With a steady stream of customers throughout our stay.  If you are hungry, they are connected to Rad Pies which is a gourmet pizza joint.  You can order pizza online and they text you when your pizza is ready.  We had the big Mac pizza with jalapeños.  It was delicious. The BEER: Starting Over Dortmunder Lager 5% ABV... a bready pilsneresk lager.  Clean flavors with a bit of bitterness.  It has layers of grainy flavor. Next Episode Cream Ale 5.5% ABV... can you say light creamy and coffee three times fast? This is an easy drinking crushable cream Ale. With just a hint of sweetness.  I let thus one warm up and the flavor exploded.  So very wonderful! Cush New England IPA 6.5% ABV... Grapefruit in the front pine in the back, this is a solid NEIPA. Karmic Event New England IPA 7% ABV... a overwhelming amount of citrus zest going on in this savory and drinkable NEIPA. Wit TF?! Witbier 5.7% ABV... like a Blue Moon, but way better Gummy Frontman Imperial IPA 8% ABV... having a hard time describing this one. It reminded me of the Karmic Event, but slightly sweeter, less overwhelming and much better.  This is so crushable. And so very good. Dank Pursuit Imperial IPA 8% ABV... this beer is special, it reminded me of Tropicana juice with the pulp left in.  So very delicious! I came to Maryland to fall in love with Cushwa.  Not sure how I'm ever going to be able to live without this incredible beer.  Wish they had national distribution, or atleast distribution in South Florida.  Maybe in time... fingers and toes crossed. read more

0 stars because you're only as good as your weakest link. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday to grab a pizza and some beers. I was covering the beers so as soon as I walked up to the bar I started asking some questions, but (I kid you not) the bartenders completely ignored me and focused solely on speaking to my boyfriend. I thought these types of interactions only happened on viral internet posts. I even had to say "Excuse me" and interrupt them speaking over me/ignoring my question. I stayed silent after that. To top it off they only brought a sample of beer to my boyfriend. After said interaction was done they asked "and what will you be having" after I clearly chose what beers we would have when my BF asked me to choose. As a girls girl It was the most BIZARRE encounter I've ever had at a bar. Of course I made my boyfriend pay afterwards lmao & they got a zero tip for being obnoxious, rude, and killing the ambience for me. My BF is easy going so for him to even ask me if I know them personally says a lot (I have never seen them in my life). which is why it left us wondering if it was racism or jealousy --or just pure boredom as you can see in the picture of them attached. I want to give Cushwa five stars. I really do. Several reasons: I like a number of their beers. They're less than a mile from my house. They let me being puppy to our Saturday morning pre-grocery-shopping attitude adjustment sessions. Did I mention that they're less than a mile from my house? Now, I'm all for experimental beers, but I'm also for a balance with traditional brews. Cushwa can swing too far toward experimentalism and more esoteric brews, at least in my opinion. Tucked away in an industrial mall, in a tucked away town outside Frederick is a brewery punching above it's tucked away status!! I've become obsessed with a good hazy IPA. You know the ones that look like you poured OJ into your beer??? Nose of light pine, citrus, and tropical fruits, the IPAs at Cushwa are amongst the best I've had. With an attached pizza place and outside tables (and ample onesie bathrooms) the drive out to visit can easily be turned into a half day. We bought a few 4-packs home to keep the party going!! One of the best breweries in MD right now and maybe ever! Atmosphere is great! Have been once before covid and 2 times during covid. They follow all the appropriate guidelines. Very clean and crisp taproom. There is limited outdoor seating in the parking lot. Beers are some of the best I've ever had! Seriously. Had a few double IPAs and sours that were delicious. Always rotating and collars with other breweries. The most recent I drank there was the Tart Cherry Pie and Snickers stout. Bothe were on point and like drinking a cherry pie and snickers! There is a pizzeria inside that is pretty Rad. All very creatively and delicious pizzas. My wife and I have eaten quite a few there, as well as taken them home for dinner. Whenever me and my wife are out in that area we certainly stop in. Def recommend you do the same! read more

Stopped in on the way to WV for a stay-cation... We brought our dog and he was welcomed right away. The beer was amazing of course and the in-house pizza by Rad Pies was phenomenal. The beer is great! They were very flavorful, and we all liked the variety in tastes. I was a big fan of their Porter. Overall, the beer gets a 10/10. The atmosphere of the place was also awesome. Tables were made out of old barrels, and the bar had the drums sitting behind it. A very cool set up. We will definitely come back for a night with a band. The food was ok. My favorite brewery in Maryland for sours. Their Electrafruit series are hands down my favorite sours I have ever had. I have probably tried about 10 different kind and have not been disappointed by a single one. The bartenders are all super friendly and have great knowledge of the beers on draft and cans to go. Finally the mural in the wall by Rad Pies is awesome and they project a design that lines up over it that makes it look super trippy. Highly recommend to any craft beer lovers. We tried the Coriolis Force, Fog at Daybreak, Computed Emotion, and the After School Snack Peanut Butter & Apricot Jelly. My husband's favorite was Coriolis Force and my was the After School Snack. Super hip brewery cranking out top notch beers, especially IPAs. Very modern feel in the new space. They are popular & quite busy, so at peak times don't expect a leisurely experience, they are trying to get beers in hands quickly - but when possible the staff is personable and informative. Beers are fantastic, something for everyone done, and each offering done well, but the hops are the star of the show. Pizza is good as well. Drink local!
