We enjoyed this spot as the last stop on our brewery tour through Frederick. It's a beautiful and large space and had nice holiday decorations. It's also pup friendly which I love since I enjoy seeing and petting all of the dogs! I loved their beer selection; I tried a couple of their Belgian offerings which were good. My bf enjoyed their Orange punch Belgian. They don't serve food here, but they did have a food truck. There was also live music which is always awesome. Steinhardt is a lovely brewery was a huge space in a historic building ! Really love how they have set up this space. Lots of breathing room and they allow canine friends on leash. The beers are tasty and served super cold! I was surprised how quickly and easily we were able to get beers from the bar, no more than a five minute wait and this place was packed!! Steinhardt is in our list of top breweries in Frederick, the main reason being location, space, and vibe. There are so many seating options available, which is awesome. You can come by yourself or with a big group, and still be able to find seating. They have 3 outdoor areas and 2 big spaces inside. There are also 2 bars to order from. I really like that they have tons of games available. It's a great way to engage with whoever you come with, IMO. If you have kids, like we do, we will play some games together if we decide to bring them with us. They have a decent beer selection which offers a little something for every taste. However, I wish they had a LITTLE more, but overall good choices. Bartenders here are always friendly and have great recommendations. read more

On 10/6/25 at approximately 2:10pm, my wife and I entered the establishment looking for my daughter and her group of friends. While there, I went to use the restroom and waited outside for our daughter to show up. It turns out that her and her friends decided to go to Idiom first then go to Steinhardt afterwards. When I exited the restroom, the male bartender or employee yelled out "Thanks for using the head and leave, yeah!" Hope you felt better after you said that, it displays your unprofessional childish behavior as an employee of this establishment. I'm sure the customers weren't thrilled either. There were 12 of us that were planning to come there after Odium but I made the decision for all of us to not go. Your loss, not mine. read more

A-OK brewery. Conveniently located along the Creek and walking distance to other nearby breweries. The entrance is along the side of the building. + food truck + 3 oz. Pours + orange haze IPA + ambiance +/- service was hit or miss +/- interesting seating layout. Lots of long tables, not as many 2 seaters or bar seating - okay I admit it. I like hipster beer like sours and IPAs. The European beers were cool, but not my thing. - champagne du Frederick was one of the weirdest beers I've had in awhile. Not sure if it was meant to be like that or if I had a bad batch. Not drinkable. read more

TLDR: Impressive Belgian beer offerings with a laid back atmosphere in downtown Frederick. Vibe: 4/5. Newer taproom with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Two dartboards are located in the back of the taproom as well as two large LED tvs making it a great place to hang out with a group of friends. Both 4 top and 6 top tables make up the bulk of the seating. Service: 4/5. Counter service only. Simply walk up to one of the many bartenders and order your beer. The day we went they had 3 people manning the taps so we never had to wait. Staff was friendly, quick and knowledgeable. Beer: 5/5. One of the larger in house brewed beer selections in Frederick. Heavy emphasis on Belgian beer, so I was able to order more unique craft beers such as tripels and quadruples. All were tasty and well brewed. read more

We went to Steinhardt brewing on a Saturday to listen to a fantastic 80s band--Audio Fuel--and drink great beer. People were watching the Preakness, playing a giant game of Jenga, throwing darts, dancing, and just enjoying themselves. We sat and listened to the band and had a couple of IPAs. They have beer for every taste. We threw darts and danced. People were friendly. The prices were reasonable. It was just plain fun. It just might become a regular hang out for us. read more

This place had it all for everything I look for in a brewery. Cool venue, good beers, and excellent customer service. I was particularly happy with the flights, which come in groups of 5. I liked their physical beer list, which was basically a piece of 8x11.5 paper in a plastic sleeve hooked to a line with wooden clips. Pretty ingenious and easy to update. I didn't walk over to order and an item on an elaborate board was unavailable. It was an easy and pleasing experience that I would recommend and repeat next time I'm in Frederick. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It has always seemed to be a popular place, customers have raves about the place. Even my wife wanted to go here as she heard good things about the sours. However the sours taste all the same. The peach and blackberry sours that the wife tried tasted identical to each other. But neither tasted of peach or blackberry. Just a mildly sour beer. They have syrups behind the bar to add flavors to beers. Now I've traveled the world and I've tasted hundreds upon hundreds of beers. Nowhere gave the asked if I wanted a flavored syrup in my beer. I can see why they do so here, the beers are devoid of any real flavor. They all taste the same. They could be brewing the Frederick versions of Coors Light for all the flavour they offer. Maybe I'm too much of a Midnight Run fanboy to get this place. I'm sure the atmosphere might be good for a night out etc.. but if the beer is not good, then I don't see a reason to go a brewery. read more

A great addition to the Fredrick beer scene, they specialize in 'old world Europe-style' beers with some standard IPAs and seasonal selections. A low-key brewery vibe, with ample seating and a darts area it was a delightful place to spend a few hours enjoying the weekend. We tried a variety of the beers, enjoying their unique blends. I would have never expected to select an Orange Ale over a Milkshake IPA but their specialties are their specialties for a reason. Each beer had such rich quality profiles. At reasonable pint prices it was a fun drinking experience. I also really loved their rendition of pumpkin ale- we will definitely be back to try out the rotating tap lists! read more

My visit here was the most fun I've had in a while in Maryland! On Wednesday's they have a "Guess this song, music trivia" night. Even though we did not win it was still such a fun activity to be a part of and the winner gets a gift card! The staff here are very nice and it is dog friendly. The beers here are really good and there is tons of variety! I got the Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Tupelo Stout 12 oz while I was there and my husband got the Vienna Lager. We got a 4 pack to take home as well. Would definitely recommend stopping by here on your next trip to Frederick. read more

This is an awesome place to grab a drink. Sits on the canal. Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere. I ordered the Vienna lager. It was so smacking good! Highly recommend it if you stop in. Idom has some competition! This place is fairly new, but it's slowly making a name for itself. I've been here a few times. It is located downtown in Union Mills. The fact that the building is very old and has rich history, gives this distillery an industrial-like feeling. The inside is spacious and the decor is simple--nice wood floors, thick brick walls, & tables made for groups. They don't have an official outdoor seating area, but they did block off a section of the side street and added tables. There is usually a food truck located on the other side of the building, in front of Idom. They have a sizable selection of drinks and will let you sample some if you are unsure of what to get. From what I've seen, this place doesn't get to crowded, which is great, especially now (during a pandemic). read more

Beer is good! Lighting is terrible! Way too bright - I felt like I was in an operating room. Lack of ambiance is the reason I don't particularly want to go to Steinhardt when there are other, comparable places that offer more inviting atmosphere. Service was fine. I recognize that I'm in a minority but just wanted to share in case there are others, like me, who do not enjoy sitting under lights that would be more suitable for a classroom than a brewery. read more

What is better than a local brewery that allows our dogs. We had such a great time visiting Steinhardt Brewery, it is right off of the creek and near several other breweries, food spots, and wine kitchens. There are so many craft beers to choose from with flavors you cannot even imagine. Usually beer hurts my stomach and leaves me a bit sluggish all day. I did not have this problem with Steinhardt. We did a 10 flight combination which allowed us to taste the majority of their beers. They were full a flavor and every not annotated in the ingredients you could taste. Dogs are welcomed which is a plus for us and very family friendly so, bring the kids. The staff was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend when visiting Frederick, MD to stop in! read more

If you walk along Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick, you'll hit an area with several breweries. Right next to always-popular Idiom is Steinhardt Brewing. When we went, Idiom was crowded making Steinhardt look very empty. Steinhardt also has mainly indoor seating with just three small tables outside near the creek. With the pandemic still waging on, people are still hesitant to stay indoors. Despite that, my wife and I grabbed a table outside and ordered a tasting of six of their beers. My wife enjoyed the Orange Haze and Orange Punch beers. I tried all their sours and they were very sour. Overall, we enjoyed Steinhardt's beers and is worth a stop on any Frederick brewery tour. read more

These guys know how to brew really good beer. Sorry, they know how to CRAFT beer. With 23 breweries per square inch in Frederick, you need something that differentiates you from the others. This brewery has it. Fun place in an old factory, but the beer is the real standout. I had a Czech dark lager. Best I've ever had, perfect fall beer. Go here first, then try the others. read more

Nice new addition to the ever growing Frederick beer scene. Their aim seems to be old world European beers, and they hit the mark. Feels like a visit to Germany, but with a few new age American beer classics mixed in as well. Many tasty selections of varying styles. The vibe fits the beer, both inside and out. Great service.
