Yesterday, I used Thumbtack to find an available tailor for a quick suit fitting. Barbara was the first to respond, and promptly at that. After coming in for the fitting, she had my suit ready in under 2 hours. Granted, it was only a suit but the point is that she did her job quickly and she did it well. I love the way the suit fits after she worked her magic on it and I will surely return to her business for any further adjustments on my clothing. read more

To Christian B.: It's true that negative reviews hurt business. However, if Barbara had delivered on her promises, and would please stop trying to place blame on customers, which in a certain organization's situation, has been completely untruthful, the negative reviews wouldn't be there. The fact is that she promises things she has been completely unable to deliver. Instead of taking responsibility, she continuously tries to deflect blame onto her customers. This is now how a successful business is run. Barbara, please take responsibility. Once you do that, you'll take the first step in turning your poor business around, and might have a chance at being a successful and honorable black-run business, and could be a positive example for all business owners in the area. I called Barabra the night before to set an appointment for the following evening. I told her I would be there after 6:30. I had to drop my son off at practice. I got there at 6:40 and she had "just left" Her husband answered the door. he told me she had just left and I could call her. He remembered that I called last night and scheduled a appointment. Not delivering on a product, and then blaming a customer and their body type is what you'll get from this place instead of owning up to their lack of skills and inability to deliver on the product promised. Body shaming is pretty horrible, unprofessional, and downright mean spirited. I do not recommend this place. read more

****BUYER'S BEWARE**** Barbara Humphrey of Custom Fashions by Barbara took over $1,200 from our organization to make 17 uniforms in January of 2016. Today is May 17, 2016 and she has NOT delivered one uniform and the original agreement was to have the uniforms done in March 2016. She has made excuse after excuse after excuse about why she can't deliver (from her sewing machines breaking, to not having enough staff, to being hospitalized for a few hours, to not having enough fabric, and the list goes on...). Unfortunately, none of those excuses have compelled her to finish the uniforms or provide us a refund. We've kept quiet long enough! But the buck stops here, since she believes now she can just ignore our texts, phone calls, FB inboxes, etc... Barbara Humphrey, it is ILLEGAL to be in business, require prepayment upfront for services, and never deliver on your agreements! We have proof of this agreement from you and you need to REFUND OUR MONEY! I'm also reading her responses to other of our organization's posts (I.e. Tasha M.). Classic, throwing the blame on someone else (not taking accountability). Yes she did supply a list and I did what she asked me to do. Unfortunately, when members arrived for fittings they either didn't have anything ready for them to try on and had to come back or wait over an hour. Sadly, I was not contacted by you to come in for an additional fitting after you promised to correct the bad alterations you made on my uniform for my group. I've seen the other feedback from past customers & they & we all have experienced the same poor customer service & poor quality. What can I say ? Shes amazing and does a great job. She turned my 40.00 dress into something else. Although I kept the design the same . She altered it and put some clips on it to make it look like it fluffed up in the back. She also did my veil and its coming out amazing.She is also making my mothers dress from scratch and so far it looks amazing and we are very pleased with her and her work. I recommend her to anyone. Barbara Foreman does not keep her word! I am a member of the organization that she took $1200+ dollars from. I have been to her place for 3 fittings and always..always showed up when I said I would. To date none of us has received our product, nor has she called to let us know when she would finish. This is the most unprofessional person I've dealt with in a very long time. Barbara is not the seamstress that she indicated and advertised to be. She took payment but to date has chosen to not deliver on commitment or promise. She continues to deflect blame to my group, rather on herself. Whether skilled or lacking, it is her lack of professionalism that I personally am calling into question. She was to make uniforms for my organization and after months began blaming the ill-fitting fabric that was put together with only pins on weight gain and sizing. My fitting shown my blouse uneven and cut as a halter: wouldn't even cover my navel. The put together skirt, also with stick pins; two sizes too large. But the worst was to see our very expensive 'purchased' material balled up in piles laying on the floor. All colors, all sizes just piled up. She had nothing tagged identifying any of the uniforms. Now she has refused to recognize customer service, paid in full orders, calls, or our multiple attempts at discussing our refunds, to the tune of well over a thousand dollars. Barbara has misrepresented her abilities by her inability to fulfill on a promise to complete as agreed; many group uniforms. Think before giving her your money. She was insensitive to our needs and our deadlines; currently putting my group in anon-uniformed predicament. I personally extended an initially thoughtful patient attitude, believing her to be overwhelmed, but her blaming has become unnecessarily displaced and uncalled for. I personally will not be going back and with a heavy heart find that I could never recommend this business! Although not previously stated, I also commissioned Barbara Humphrey to design and create a blouse of which she never made! Never a fitting, never a shown pattern of the blouse. Although she would schedule a date for me to see and fit, when I would ask why the fitting didn't happen, she would say that I was mistaken and that I was confused. After calling my creditor for advice and telling her; she started promising to return my money. After months , I have finally received a portion of the actual money paid to Barbara. I lost the initial fees for the use of credit and the fees for reimbursement were also charged to me. In the end, no blouse and Barbara got rid of me after her earnings of bank interest on the months she was able to hang on to my money. read more

PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! Barbara Humphrey took my group's money back in February and until this day we haven't received anything. All of our group members completed our measurements, then went to our 1st & 2nd fittings. After that, we have not been called in for our final fittings. Well, one our group members received her supposed finished garments, she tried it on when she got home and it was botched up! We were supposed to take group pictures in March, but we haven't received our garments. Then, we moved our date to April to take group photos and still haven't received anything. Until this day, Wednesday, May 18, we have not even got a phone call or text to let us know that our outfits are ready. She continues to ignore or doesn't even respond to our calls! She does not take responsibility of her actions. She continue to make excuses of the reasons we have not received our finished product. We are fed up and this has gone on too long.
