Absolutely Terrible Experience - Dishonest and Unprofessional I went to Q Alterations & Cleaners to have three jackets dry cleaned. I was clearly told the total would be $20 for all three. When I came to pick them up, they charged my card $42 -- TWICE. That's $84 for a $20 service. When I brought it to their attention, they did not refund the full amount, and gave me the runaround. Their business practices are shady, deceptive, and completely unprofessional. I trusted them with my items and my money, and they took advantage of that trust. Do not bring your clothes here unless you want to be overcharged, ignored, and scammed. I will never go back, and I suggest everyone stay far away from this place. Hey, y'all! I just wanted to give another shout out to Connie. About 18 years ago, my husband got me a Spongebob pillow. I have used it every single day since then. He's even traveled to Jamaica, Honduras, Cozumel, pretty much all around the Caribbean, not to mention a few of our states. By the time I got him to Connie, he was as flat as a pillow can get. Connie got him looking as good as new and I am so so SO pleased. She also repaired a beanie and reVelcro'd my leather belt, double stitched. This is my second review for this shop. I'll throw in a reminder that she fixed a bikini bottom to better fit my hips, front AND back (we had a great trip, btw). I seriously doubt that there isn't anything Connie can't fix or create. Dry cleaned a dress here for an out of town wedding. They do not have reliable business hours so I was stuck going over multiple times and calling over and over on the day I was leaving town. Thankfully someone showed up at 2:30 and I grabbed my dress for a 4:00 departure out of town that day. I told the owner or whomever she was that she needs to communicate her hours and she immediately started scraping the hours sticker off her door. So there is a chance it won't always be unreliable. But that's a hard pass for me. read more

I went to 2 other alteration places that wouldn't work with me just said "idk how to do that" . BUT this place is great. She will do any alterations you want! I wanted some custom patches added to jeans and them to be taken out. She thought I was crazy but did exactly what I said and they were perfect. Love this place highly Recommend! read more

I am new to Austin and was in need of an organic cleaner. I had two months supply of clothing from move that needed care. First time I went to Q, clothing came back properly done. Dropped a number of pieces off for tailoring, pressing , and a suit for alterations. Suit came back work not completed, weave on an area of pants pocket; not done. Did alterations on shirts, left one not cleaned, and others not pressed. Part of order came back cleaned and pressed. That order with alterations came to over $325. When packing clothing in car I found a shirt with a stain, I went back in and left it to be done again. Fortunately I hedged my bet, and had taken.some clothing to another shop during same time period I went to Q. Nice work first time, waiting to give some alterations, and then will write a review for that shop. read more

I've been coming here for years. My usual request (because I have the shortest legs EVER on a human) is to hem whatever pair(s) of pants I've recently bought. But Connie has also dry cleaned suede for me and has done some really difficult alterations (on a suit jacket and a bride's dress) for friends. I trust her completely with any item I bring to her -- she finishes on time, and her prices are reasonable. Q Alterations has been my go-to for many years, even though it's not a super convenient location for me. Several years ago, my husband talked me into trying an alteration place closer to our home because he said it should be easy to hem jeans. That place messed up two new pairs of jeans. I gave then a try based on Yelp ratings and I will look for something closer to me next time... Recently I needed to get a zipper repaired on my hoodie. I called around to my local cleaners and then I checked Yelp. Great reviews and Great stars.. so why not give Q a try? I called ahead and asked if they repair zippers.. I was told yes, so I made the 15 minute drive over. I dropped off the hoodie and paid in advance. I was told that it may be a day or two (expected maybe three) since I learned it would need to be sent "out" to someone for repair. They noted that would call me when ready. (Note: this is the same reply I got from other places since they also did not do it locally) No worries in my mind, I dropped it off. A few days later, no calls, so I call Q and ask about it. The woman who answered mentioned that "the other woman" is not in the office right now and that she would have her call me back with an update. I appreciated the answer and then waited... and waited... and waited. No call back for a few days... So I called again a few days later, as I was beginning to travel for the holidays and needed the comfort of my hoodie. I was able to finally learn that my hoodie was ready. I took my lunch early and headed right over since the 15 min drive would be longer at lunch rush. I arrived and I was able to get my hoodie... .... that was balled up in a plastic bag? ... on the floor? Really? (I thought)... ... It may not be a wedding gown or business shirt, but geesh did it need to be on the floor? Mind you, the bag was tied in a knot and had other things laying on it and was never hanging or had a hanger and simply fell. Additionally, it was not like it was in a "to be cleaned" stack and I just picked it up early before it was cleaned... It may not seem like much to many, but the care of a customers possession is their business and to see it laying on the floor kinda disrespects their property that your business is based on. Many things hold value to many people. For a simple service to repair a zipper on my hoodie seemed like it was not as important as other customers services being performed. Overall... YES my hoodie was repaired and the zippered has been working perfectly. NO, they did not return my calls or provide updates when I checked with them YES, it took 11 days for me to get the repairs performed and picking up of my hoodie after drop off. Would I use them again? Highly not likely.. it's not worth the drive/effort. Could this be a speed bump in a new service/company? Yes, these things happen and I hope that they learn from it and do their best to improve. I give them a solid 3 stars only because this may be a rare situation, they seem new, and because I really dislike rating negatively when it is not deserved. Just please UPDATE customers when you say you will and PLEASE do not bundle their belongings in a bag on the floor. (at least pick it up before they walk in... when they called and said they were on the way) Q A&C.... I will give some others a try when I need a zipper repair next time. After saying Yes to my Dress, I took it in for alterations to a seamstress in Killeen, near where I work. Dress was altered to give a little around the hips but then it completely changed the flattering fit I had in the bust making my dress look boxy. Killeen became too far to keep returning for more fittings and my bridal portraits were approaching. Thanks to Yelp and the positive reviews I read about Connie at Q Cleaners & Alterations, I took my dress in for repair. Connie is a perfectionist to say the least. Her attention to detail gave me and my dress exactly what we needed to accent a more flattering figure! This lady is very nice and reasonably priced. She did a great job altering my dress, which was a weird stretchy lacy material and hard to work with. She did a lovely job and it fit great when she was done. I also took a dress for her to dry clean, it was again very reasonably priced, and she did it really quickly. They are kinda small, but the lady is really friendly and attentive, I had recently had back surgery and she was super attentive to that and really understanding when adjusting my clothes for it accordingly. Connie has reached "rock star" status. Her expertise in tailoring my suits and sport coats was 2nd to none. The amount I spent on 10 items was less expensive than the price of a quality suit. Their dry cleaning is spectacular. She was able to get out stains on some coats that others tried. This means the garment was already laundered yet she was able to remove stains that were years old. I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a top-notch cleaner and alteration facility. I'm super late on posting this review, but better late than never. Basically, Connie is an absolute lifesaver! In 2015, my husband and I had a private ceremony on the beach and then a second ceremony for family and friends 3 months later. Due to this plan, I needed two dresses. In order to save money, I ordered both online and hoped for the best. Even though I had provided my measurements, they didn't fit and there were a few major issues that would have prevented me from wearing them at all, had Connie not worked her magic! She was so creative, attentive, and meticulous that I ended up with two absolutely perfect dresses! I'd say they were more beautiful after she got done than they were in the pictures from which I made the decision to purchase. Connie is very professional. I came in on my lunch break since it was a few miles down the road, and brought in three jeans and a dress to be hemmed. She was very nice and calm, and finished pinning the three jeans very quickly. When it got to my dress, I asked her to take it up to above the knee, and she pointed out that it would come up higher due to my bust, and suggested a few alternatives to make the dress look better. We finished pinning in approximately 5-10 minutes. Each jean was about $12 for hemming, which is the average price around Austin. Connie is absolutely amazing!!!!! She is such a talented seamstress! I will never go anywhere else in Austin. Connie had done spectacular alterations for me before, so I knew I had to have her do the alterations for my wedding dress. Especially because she is very reasonably priced. After Connie was done, the dress fit me like a glove. I didn't even need to buy undergarments because it fit so perfectly. This was no small feat, with all the beading on the bodice. Let alone the fact I only gave her about 2 weeks to do my alterations (my bad). She was so patient with me, and would listen to exactly what I wanted. She was so creative too, because some of my requests were lofty. For example, she did my bustle on the dress, but my dress was super heavy and big, so it was difficult to have the bustle look the way I wanted, while also being secure. Connie pulled it off, she came up with a great idea and my dress stayed secure all night. I also wanted to bustle my cathedral length veil, which was also hard because it had a lot of beading and veil material wasn't strong enough to hold up the weight of it. Also, I was picky and didn't want extra hooks/buttons in the middle of the veil. Connie came up with a creative way to bustle the veil, that didn't ruin the integrity of the veil and I wore it most of the night. This review is for the dry cleaning service. They are excellent. I am a very discriminating and frequent dry cleaning customer. My old dry cleaner retired before covid and I experimented with a few of the large chains. They all sucked and/or had high prices. Last week I took a giant load to Q Alterations and Cleaners. It was done in two days and the work was top notch. I requested heavy starch and they obliged with the kind of starch I used to get in the Army. I was like, yes!! Prices were very fair for shirts and laundry. They are my new go-to. read more

I walked in to drop off my bridesmaids dress a week ago to get cleaned and have it taken out around the bust an inch. When I met the woman behind the counter and began explaining what I needed done, I could tell there was a language barrier which made it harder for us to understand each other. When we got through what I needed, I paid in advance for a service I haven't received yet and left. Fast forward to a week later and I am calling to inquire about my dress. A different woman answers but still the same language barrier and she is having trouble getting my phone number to look it up. When she does get the info right, she tells me that it's not ready. I ask her why, we agreed on a week? She then says it will be ready tomorrow. I tell her No, we agreed on a week and I need it for a wedding. At this point the language barrier got worse and she was trying to tell me something that I couldn't understand but at the end say "is okay?" And I would say No, I'm not agreeing to anything you're saying because I can't understand you. Finally she said to call back in five minutes and I agreed but decided to go to the shop instead, it's right around the corner from my home. When I arrived to the shop and started to inquire about my dress they said it would be ready at 5pm. I asked if I could see the dress (so I could see if they even started on it) and she tells me that it's not even at their shop!! It was taken off site to be altered which is something that I DID NOT agree to or know that they do. The woman then said she didn't know English very well and called the owner since she could tell I was pissed. Once I was on the phone with the supposed owner she told me the same thing, that it would be there at 5pm. I then began to tell the owner that if it is common practice for your business to take customers garments off site to alter them, then you need to express that to your customers before hand. I don't know if she listens though because she kept trying to speak over me. So now, I don't have the option to take it AND I dunno if they actually have it done or if they are going to hurry up and do it in a couple hours. They are NOT reliable, irregardless of the language barrier. If we agree on a week, it's a week and if you take my garment off site without my knowledge how do I know you didn't wear it, steal it or let it get lost? I don't. Also, if your excuse for me is that you don't know English well, then my excuse is I don't know Korean well. It's just bad business & confusion when you can't communicate. Awesome service. Went in on Wednesday at noon needing alterations and dry cleaning for a suit jacket, pants, and dress shirt, by noon on Thursday. The measurements only took 5-10 minutes, and I was assured everything would be done on time. I was skeptical, so I went back on Thursday at 9am just to make sure, and was told not to worry. So at noon on Thursday I walked in expecting an excuse, but instead everything was ready to go. I didn't have time to try it on, but when I did, everything fit perfectly. Really good experience, and really fast. Both ladies I met were really nice and the price was exactly what I was expecting. If I weren't moving this would be my go to dry cleaner. read more

Moved to Austin a few years ago after having emotional goodbye to Jerry, my dry cleaner of 7 years in San Francisco. Took about a year of some really bad dry cleaning until I found Connie. She does top notch work, is a class act, and is SUPER nice. The string in my bathing suit came out and she thread it back through right when I brought it in for nothing, amongst other above and beyonds. Your buttons are safe here, and no over pressing.
