I came in to get my front two windows to match the rear stock tint as well as adding the clear UV protection film to the windshield and sunroof in the beginning of May 2023. When I came in to pick up my car I expected the same exemplary service and quality that custom sounds has provided me the past 20+ years. Sadly I was disappointed. They rather than tinting the from windows to match the rear windows they tinted all the side windows making but skipped the windshield and sunroof all together without mentioning it until after I took a second Uber to pick my car up. The sale person told me they would have the correct size for my sunroof in two weeks. I came back two weeks later and still no tint. Then again two weeks later and the machine they use to precision cut the tint. Again, I was told two weeks as they were out of the size tint that I needed to tint my roof. FINALLY. Yesterday I came in to see if the stars had aligned and both tint, precision cutting machine and all the infinity stones would be in this week and was told I could drop my car off tomorrow morning at 0900.... They open at 1000.... Yeah. Skepticism is growing but my anticipation was they would simply get my vehicle in before they opened so I could be mobile before 1700. Nope. Like a loser with out a prom date I sat in that parking lot solo at 0900 for 15 minutes before taking a drive around the block to kill some time. I arrived back at just past 0930 to the flashing OPEN sign. Here is the financial dig on this transaction. I already paid for the front window and the side windows to be tinted. The sales guy tells me that he would cover the cost of the front windshield because of the inconvenience of time but I'd still need to pay for the roof tint. Keep in mind i they tinted two windows I didn't want in the first place and sent me on my way without tinting the other two windows I originally came to have done. I will be four Ubers deep and paid $750 four Ubers while waiting nearly two months for this shop to finish the work I paid for at the beginning of May of 2023. Tint quality is on point but customer service for this transaction was less than professional because having already paid for this service the only communication I have had since dropping off my car at the beginning of May was the call to tell me they finished and I could pick up my car. Other than that, I made every call to find out when I could have the work I paid for completed. Every two weeks since May 11, 2023 I got the two weeks it's coming from Austin as if it was an ocean away traveling via steam ship. The Custom Sounds furthest from this one in Austin is 102 miles from this location. So logistically speaking two weeks to get from there to here with enough tint for a vehicle my size should have been an overnight shipping at best 2 day shipping at the worst. Seven week is IDGAF behavior. read more

Do NOT get work done here. Price quotes can fluctuate between $100-$200 depending on who you speak to. Then when I received my vehicle back, there were issues. When I turned the car off, about a minute goes by and then the sub just started producing a loud bass sound. I call them up, and someone tells me to bring it back in the following day and they will take care of it simple fix. I take it back the next day and after 7+ hours of work, go back in and they tell me it's all fixed (It wasn't, it still continued to produce the sound after they insisted they "tested" it). I get in my car to leave and now there is a warning error coming up through the cars computer system. After about 30 more minutes of looking at it they cannot determine the source of the issue and Nick tells me to bring it back again the following day for work. When I return for the 3rd day in a row, the employee inside (different employee) tells me he is the only one working that day and will not have time to work on my car. Again I bring in the car for a 4th straight day and tell them they didn't even fix the original issue, and after another 7+ hours of them "working" on the car they call and tell me they fixed the warning but cannot fix the original issue and I would have to drive to another location across town on Friday because they had a tool that could fix the car. Friday rolls around and I call that location to confirm they have the tool and can fix the car before I spend time driving over there and they tell me they actually do not have it and to come back in Tuesday. On Tuesday I bring the car in at 10:00 am as requested and am told that the guy who would be working on my vehicle was not there yet. After waiting 30 mins for the guy to arrive, I ask how long this will take and he shrugs his shoulders. After asking further he says could be 20 mins could be an hour. How do you not know how long this "simple fix" would take when I'm the first person here. Very unprofessional work throughout the entire experience and too much time wasted. There are much better options out there for more affordable prices. read more

Apparently they are only fast and good if your waiting in the waiting room watching them. Due to COVID19 you cannot wait on the waiting room for your tint to be done. So we drive off we ran some errands and drive by the store an hour and half later the truck is still sitting in the parking lot not even touched. Keep in mind we had the first appointment of the day and we arrived 45 minutes before the store opened. We were there before the employees! I have lost all the trust and confidence in Custom Sounds. His extensive knowledge was extremely helpful and was super patience as I had trouble with the paradox of choice when choosing my box. i came in to get a tint job on a newly purchased vehicle and they did a great job on tint work, but broke my third brake light and refused to repair, wish it was something that was they took accountability because the way they broke my third brake light makes it very difficult to work on. good value with the tint but the repair i have to make, makes it seem like i didn't really get the bargain i thought. at least the tint comes with a warranty read more

Before heading to Custom Sounds, I had gone to Tint World for a quote & was completely turned off by the customer service, then the tech having to skim through a book to give me audio suggestions. Hassie is extremely knowledgeable and basically sold me on buying from Custom sounds without needing any kind of book or bad attitude. I asked for a 10" Sub in a stealth box. He went above and beyond with recommendations but also providing me the info needed to make sure I got what I was looking for. My vehicle ('19 WRX) didn't have a stealth box already made so Joe had to mold one from scratch. His attention to detail and work ethic proved in the end to be exceptional. I left more than satisfied with the results and quality of work. I was asked to bring in mar car at 10.30 am for the front windshield tint and as I did get there they told me you do not have an appointment but they could do it. So I dropped it and left but got no call all day but I call in to see at 4 to see where they at with it. They tell me it have not started yet but next is my turn. After waiting for their call I call back again and no one picks up the call and I get there at 7 pm and they tell me that they couldn't do it. This guy MATHEW is so unprofessional with his behavior. At this point of time when I call it off that I'm going to cancel the work he tells me to have a nice day. This kind of attitude is what their workers have. Not only that, this happened all in-front of the manager. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I bet I was not the first one to have this experience. Very bad experience with custom sounds off 1604. I made an appointment over a week out for 10am on a Saturday and at 5:30pm I called to check on the status since I knew they close at 7pm and they told me my vehicle would be done by the time they closed as they were almost done. I showed up at 7pm since I hadn't been called and they hadn't started on it at all, but said they would work late to get it done and have it to me by noon on Sunday. I showed up at 2pm on Sunday as I hadn't received a call yet. At that time they told me that the remote start and alarm module was for a 2017 and it didn't work with my 2018. I confirmed with them twice on Saturday and when making the appointment and on the order that it was a 2018. I'm really not sure how they didn't know that a 2017 module wouldn't have worked and didn't even ask if I was okay with them using a 2017 module on my vehicle before breaking my vehicle down and stripping wires. The guy at the store also told me that they had not ever worked on any 2018 vehicles yet. If this was the case why weren't they just honest in the beginning so I wasn't without a vehicle for almost two days versus allowing me the opportunity to go somewhere else with my business. They blamed it on low manning. Again why not be honest with your customers as I could have gone somewhere else. These folks are not customer friendly and not completely honest. I had the roll ups tinted as well and that took them 5+ hours when my appointment was at 10am. Be careful using custom sounds off of 1604 in San Antonio. I won't just gripe. The tint was good after them having it for two days. I was going to take my wife's vehicle for tinting, but I will find a more reputable place. read more

Considering I didn't have the work done I can't speak to the quality but I can speak to service selection and prices. Bottom line shop around if your on yelp pay attention to the reviews and you will find several quality and qualified installers willing to offer a customer a fair market price...ex...I was just quoted a rearview backup camera mirror...installed for $847.00. To put in perspective I was quoted a complete head unit replacement /upgrade to NEX4201 with steering wheel control sirrus/xm and back up camera $1100. That is the flagship pioneer headunit...my advice buyer beware, read the yelp and Google reviews and shop around and shop local. My advice to Custom Sound...put some effort in selling the product. Why should I pau $800+ what does the camera do for me demo it for me YouTube the reviews for me how does it compare to other cameras. Also what was the remote control for? I still don't know...I asked...why don't I know? Custom Sound I was the only customer in the shop your staff was jaw jacking among them self and they diffently appeared disinterested and bored. Additionally, they were very accommodating when my schedule caused a last minute delay. I dealt with Albert and he went above and beyond to make sure we got the right equipment and he remained flexible to adjust to our schedule. Bought radio from them and was having problems with date and time. Went to see if I could get help to figure it out with no luck because nobody wanted to come look at it. I was told it was my battery because they had the problem with one other radio before. Went to O'Reilly to have battery checked and it shows good. Called Kenwood and they walked me through it and it was just a setting in radio. All it would have took was a little CUSTOMER SERVICE. Will not be doing business with them again. read more

Terrible customer service. I had an overhead DVD player installed in my Suburban. The DVD was a special order which Joe handled very well. Joe told me the install would take 2-3 hours. I returned to the shop and Daniel filled out my ticket and said the installer had no jobs and he would get to my install right away. I left the Suburban and told Daniel I needed the car back at 5 pm. "No problem" I was told. I called at 4:20 and was told "the hard part of the install is complete." My ride from work dropped me off at 5 to pick up my Suburban, but it was not ready. I waited until 6:20 pm for the install to be complete!! They told me the delay was because another install came in. So you bump one install to do another? Poor service. Lack of communication. And flat out not caring about their customers. I will never be going back to Custom Sounds. read more

Terrible. My wife has had to replace a "a wire that keeps disconnecting" 4 times. It was installed at the Bandera location, "fixed" 3 times there so we thought we tried the new location. Told them we are frustrated that we aren't being told what's really wrong. They extol their soldering method so how is the same wire disconnecting? It's probably something more expensive in the wiring harness that they won't or don't want to be responsible for but I'll never know. I asked them to make sure and diagnose the problem so I know what is causing it and not just fix it this time. When done, I asked for the cause and the guy up front naturally said he is not the tech and didn't know. He asked if I wanted to speak with the tech and when he went back to get him, he was no where to be found. The guy said that he was probably at lunch. This was at 5pm on Sunday when they close at 6 and we can hear someone in the back. The guy promised a call from the installer but it never came. It's pathetic. I'd taken 3 cars in a about a year period and all are having problems. They wear you down with disregard and it's a shame. At one time, they were THE place to go. I'm going to write a daily review with one star to ensure the 5 star crap gets removed. Looks like the installers are running the show and that's never good. read more
