I called another vendor when my alarm misfunctioned and was given a runaround about how long it would take, what caused it, how much it might cost...I tried Alamo and the nicest man came on, cheerful, helpful, knew the answer (simple - remove the alarm) right away and quoted me the price. They were packed with customers when I arrived but so efficient that they had finished, done a great job, explained the problem in an hour and a half, and the price was just what he predicted,... and incredibly reasonable! I had these guys install a factory bluetooth retrofit, tint, and radar wiring - they did an great job. I intended on trying the install myself until I saw the complexity - the factory manual advised that atleast one trim part would need to be replaced after the install, but these guys were able to save the part... big bonus. Extremely thorough - Richard went over all of the steps in detail, and Memo walked me through the functionality to make sure everything worked as it should. Best customer service ever! Great installation of aftermarket stereo and backup camera! Alamo Audio is a family run business. I was greeted as I pulled into park by King. Super friendly way to start the job! Next I spoke with Memo, who did the installation in my Lexus SC430. I bought the radio and installation kit from Del Rey in Cali (and the company in California gave me the referral for Alamo Audio!) I'm from San Antonio and had never heard of Alamo Audio...and they've been in business around 20 years. I'd gone to Custom Sound and was told they could not install an aftermarket stereo in my SC430. Best Buy put in an ipod connection that messed up the automatic door for the radio cover and sounded staticky. Alamo Audio works with Lexus San Antonio and knew my car. Memo not only fixed everything, he found out my reverse lights didn't work and went out and bought me new bulbs for my car. I had no idea my reverse lights were out. Seriously, this is as good as it gets! After all is said and done and installed, they ask me if I'd like to have a beer and play around with the radio to make sure it works, and to show me the features of my new radio. I even met their dad who stopped in to see the boys and have a glass of wine. The people at Alamo Audio could be the nicest people you meet in San Antonio! Worst place ever you have to go to another viper dealer in order for them to do the job right this place is whack Eben after installing 2 alarms on the same vehicle the only one that worked properly was the one connected by caliber collision. Not worth their warranty either if they can't even get it right the first time. You'll be taking it back every month if u have that kind of time. I will never recommend this place. There is very good collaboration during each phase of design and install. Ideas are shared and a agreed path is taken. This goes a long way for me compared to other local shops. It also helps to inspect during different stages of the install to help make decisions where roadblocks occur. I bought front and rear Focal Expert components from Crutchfield and had them installed here. The install had to be custom due to limitations with my Landcruiser and no it wasn't cheap but it was worth it. read more

I went to get my sound system fixed at electronics 2000 and received a $100 quote for the job at hand after the initial diagnostics... 7 hours later a received a tab for almost $800 because they couldn't figure out how to fix the issue and told me in order to finish the job I had to pay for extra maintenance.. long story short I came here to Alamo Auto Sound & Security and off the bat the customer service was light years ahead. On top of that they were able to back track on my previous problems and fixed everything on under 2 hours.. I would recommend them to ANYONE looking for premium quality sound system installment. You need to know!!!!! It's almost been a year and because I hate giving negative Yelp reviews, I've dodged writing my experience at Alamo. I honestly wish I never went here. It was thousands of dollars wasted on my brand new van. I took my inherited mini van in to get the works! Tinted windows, DVD player, new stereo, and they talked me into getting an alarm. When I asked if my car already had an alarm they replied "no, it just locks the doors". First complaint- they had my car soooooooo long! I've had these same things done to my other vehicles, they are so slow in turn around! When I returned to get my car, not only did they not connect things correct, but they only reason I knew is because I asked them to show me everything before I left. The volume was on super low, and he said he didn't know how to fix it. This was the guy that managed the place! How do you not know your products inside and out? The guy that can fix it wasn't there. So I left... Complaint number 2 When I came back to pick up my car they now showed me that the volume worked perfectly. I asked where the directions book was so that I could figure out all of the other buttons on it, and they did not know where it was. I asked where the remote was and they did not know where it was. In fact they then told me they didn't know where the remote was and this model doesn't come with a remote. I said "well you installed the wrong one because I had one that came with a remote." It was one of those experiences that your eyes widen and you can't believe that they're answering with these answers. How do you pay for product and not get the entire product? I thought the simple solution would be where's The box? No answer. I said fine, I'm going to return this radio/DVD player where's my original? Can you guess what their answer was? Mind you this is a brand new minivan! "Oh I don't know where we put the original radio it might be in the trash"- are you kidding me? Come to find out one of the employees had locked it up in his locker. Who knew these stock radios are worth a few hundred dollars? So I told them nicely when I return I want a remote and I want my radio back, with the directions for the radio I paid for! Complaint number 3- When I came back hours later they didn't offer a discount I didn't hear an apology. Basically now that I've paid, they can treat you how they please. Below poor customer service. Complaint number 4 Every day that I get in my car the alarm that was installed prior to the new alarm goes off. I had an alarm ALL along, but was scammed into buying a crappier one. As a customer it's unfortunate that you lie for a living, but yes, I'm the dumb one that fell for it. You don't have to be! Complaint number 5- OVERPRICED Most things are at least $100 overpriced inside the store. If you want a car DVD player, radio, tinted windows, anything for your car, I suggest buying it somewhere else. They'll keep your car so long and charge you tons for labor and parts. Proud to say I'm never going back, my only regret is giving them one star because they deserve zero. read more

The factory auxiliary jack and power outlet were not working in my car. I read some great yelp reviews so I brought my car in. They said they would need a full day to investigate so I left my car in the morning and was told I would receive an update in the afternoon. They did me one better and by the afternoon they fixed the problem altogether. All of the guys I worked with were very professional and respectful. You can tell that they pride themselves on their work. I believe I paid a very fair price for the work they performed and if I ever have an issue again this will be my first stop. I found this place on Yelp. The reviews gave me the idea that this place was worth trying for getting my car's windows tinted. The reviews were accurate. The owner took the time to talk to me in detail about the products, and I felt no compulsion to purchase any particular product. More importantly, they don't do that "bait and switch" tactic that the other shops do, you know, where they advertise the cheapest product and then run it down when you get there and try to upsell you. This factor alone gave me confidence in Alamo Auto. The tint was good, the price was excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this business to others. read more

And today I had the luck to discover TWO amazing places to rave about! The first is most definitely this wonderful gem. After going to the Best place and then a Custom place and not getting answers to my questions regarding my concerns that my antenna was causing my reception problems. I wasn't sure if I bought a new car stereo and would still have the same problem. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Alamo. I must have called three or four times asking questions. I finally drove down and spoke to Richard so he looked at my car and the antenna and assured me they could take good care of me and the antenna wasn't the problem. I finally made an appointment and selected a stereo but of course had more questions. I even asked for a Pioneer model they didn't stick. No problem! Richard ordered the one i wanted. Everyone I spoke to on the phone and when I was there was so polite and professional. They really know their stuff! Like other reviewers said, they treat you like family and they are very good at what they do. They took the time to show me how to work the stereo and the Bluetooth and even did some of the settings for me. I love the new stereo and it picks up stations I didn't know existed. I don't know much about stereo stuff and I just bought a new truck that had some previous stereo work done on it. I tried to hook things up myself and didn't do too well. I brought it to the guys here and they jumped right on it. I needed more parts and they gave me fair prices and installed things professionally. I highly recommend these guys if you don't mind possibly spending a hair more than big boxes but get things done right the first time and from a few brothers that know how to treat customers. Professional work and the guys there made sure they explain everything installed. I got a Pioneer NEX 6100 w/ Backup camera on my 14' Chevy Silverado. Not only did they guarantee their work but everything was explained on how it was installed and programmed. Got a Viper auto startup alarm installed in Infinity G37S and love how it works. A bit pricey but well worth it because I went to Mothers once to buy an alarm and have it installed at a cheaper price; never worked correctly so I had them uninstall it and returned the alarm for a refund. read more

On TUE 1/23/15 I brought my broken Kenwood radio to Alamo. As it turns out, they don't do diagnosis or repair. They suggested another shop with a bench charge of $ 70.00 to test my radio and told me they could sell me a Pioneer radio at the price of $ 109.00 INSTALLED. Since their bays were empty, Richard estimated the job would take about an hour. After consulting the boss, I brought my car in around 1:30. The man inside the bays said one hour was a bit optimistic but the job would certainly be done before four o'clock. When nobody called me by 4:30, I called them. The car had already been done. When I went into the office to pay, Richard told me that they had LOWERED the price from $ 109.00 to $ 99.00. "Wow" I thought, this place is great! I pulled out my plastic and Richard printed out the bill. It was $ 154.00. It seems that "installed" means something different at Alamo than on the rest of the planet. They had tacked on a $ 42.00 labor charge. I imagine the 10 dollar "deduction" was just part of the game. Since this type of thing has happened to me at independent auto shops several times in the few years I have lived in San Antonio, I am sick and tired of arguing and just paid the bill even though it was about thirty-five dollars too much. My old 6-disc changer had been removed and it was left in the foot-well on the front passenger side. When I picked it up, all the discs fell out. The cover on the center armrest was off and also left on the ground. It took quite awhile for Richard and I to find the manual. The radio was installed properly and plays fine. If you are needing to be overcharged (gringo tax?) and don't mind your car being delivered in a sloppy manner, this place is for you. read more
