Before I go into details, I would like to make clear that this complaint is specific to this store. My complaint is not intended to question the integrity, ethics, or professionalism of any other Tint World store. This was the most bizarre business dealing I've ever experienced in my 76 years on earth. I went to Tint World around Friday, 22 March 2024 to see about getting some work done on my 2017 Chevrolet Volt. I wanted a Led Glow under glow kit installed, my windows tinted, and ceramic coating. I talked with Mr. Cliff Duron about the work to be done and he said they could perform the services I needed. I made an appointment to bring the car in Tuesday morning, 26 March 2024. Mr. Duron approximated being done that Thursday or Friday. The "call": The surreal begins. I received a call from Mr. Duron, at 5:30 pm, Wednesday, 27 March 2024. Mr. Duron said they found "paint imperfections" on the hood of my car. He wanted me to come in and see them. That evening, I started to think about our conversation. I was concerned, as a consumer, that Mr. Duron would add additional charges to the ceramic coating under the guise of having to expend more labor working on the "imperfections." When I showed up at Window Tint, Mr. Duron brought a bright light over to the hood and said something like "see the paint runs." "I literally had to get my nose about 2 inches from the hood and yes, I could see the subtle paint runs." I told Mr. Duron "I've had this car for 6 years. I've never noticed them. I told him I get compliments on my car all the time. Nobody has noticed them." I told Mr. Duron that it's okay. I never expected total perfection. I only trusted that they, Tint World, would do their professional best to make the paint look better and to go ahead with the ceramic coating." This is really when it went FUBAR. Mr. Duron said "You don't get it. I've got to protect my company and my employees! The ceramic coating will lock the imperfections in permanently." I said I understood that. Mr. Duron then said, paraphrasing, you could come back and say that you want the ceramic coating taken off and the imperfections taken out. Again, he reiterated once again, "I've got to protect my company and my employees!" thing. I then said, "Does the ceramic coating make the imperfections worse." Mr. Duron said "No" I again reiterated that I wasn't expecting perfection. That I trusted them to do the best job. Trying to ease his mind, I then that suggested that we could make a statement on the invoice something like: Tint World showed the customer the paint imperfections. Tint World made it clear that the paint imperfections would be permanently locked in after the ceramic coating was done. The customer still wanted the ceramic coating done. We could make a statement and I would sign it. Then Mr. Duron said "I don't know you. I don't know if I can trust you." I responded with "I don't know you either. I just brought my car in for ceramic coating and trust that y'all would do the best professional job possible. I presume you do not want to do the coating. Again, Mr. Duron responded with "I didn't say that. You're putting words in my mouth again." At this point I was fed up. I have no idea what was causing Mr. Duron's irrational behavior. I just said "Look! Are going to the ceramic coating of not?" Mr. Duron said, "No! I've had enough of you. Take your car somewhere else." When Mr. Duron presented me with the bill was inflated. Although I came in, mainly, for the ceramic coating, Mr. Duron charged me for a Ultimate Auto Detail, $281.44. First, I did not ask for a detail job. But, most importantly, they did not do it. I've got pictures showing debris on the floor of the drivers and passengers' side to prove it. My plan is to dispute the charge on my credit card and pass this complaint on to Tint World Corporate, the BBB, and Yelp. read more

I had illegal tint and I failed my registration inspection so I needed my tint removed and replaced quickly. Called around and other tint shops did not answer the phone but tint world did. Talkd to Britney and she got me in for tht Monday. I called around to different tint shops again to verify that the price was reasonable and this place was the lowest out of all the shops I called. To do the work was a quick hour and Britney was such a delight to chat with. They also have military discount! The mechanic drove my car around and parked it, I paid and tried to start my car but it wouldnt come on. I started to panic thinking I was going to have to get a tow truck and what a hassle tht would be. Went back inside and told the person at the counter and he checked it out and it was my battery... he gave me a jump and sent me on my way. This shop is great! I made an appointment to receive window tint on my front driver and passenger windows. When I arrived I was helped right away. They showed me the different tint styles and packages to choose from. While my car was being worked on, I was given several updates about the status since I choose to wait in the waiting area. The area has chairs and a tv with Netflix. It took less than 2 hours to complete the service and the price was very reasonable, plus they gave me a coupon to come back and fix my rear window in the future. The customer service was superb! Not professional at all, I took my truck F250 to get the front windshield and all other windows tinted on Wednesday, They told me to come back in 3 hours it will be done, Went back after 3 hours and inspected vehicle. all windows were correct but There was a big tear on the left side of the Windshield. So the lady told me to leave it for tomorrow and they will get it replaced first thing in the morning. So i waited all day the next day on thursday and finally got a message at 5:30 saying truck is ready so i went to go see it and there was a big scratch on the drivers side of the windshield that was there. So they told me to leave it for another day. So i left it again cause i really wanted it tinted. On Friday the next day, I didn't get any messages saying truck was ready so i went there at 5:45 pm right before they closed at 6pm and they said the truck isn't ready, that they are still working on it. And they are making sure that its going to be done correctly. So i left again and left the truck there again. On Saturday I didn't get any messages saying truck is ready so i called them around 5pm and the guy that answered phone told me that the tinters mom had passed away and that there was no one to replace him and that they haven't done the tint yet. And the lady that should've called me to let me know about the status of truck was off cause of a birthday . But when i went there Friday the lady went to the back and said they are still working on it, Which made no sense at all. So i told him not to do the tint on it that i will be there tomorrow to pick up the truck. But he told me they were closed on Sunday so i cant pick it up. He apologized and said that they will do the tint correctly and this and that. So i told him that i will be there monday to go pick it up. and to go ahead and do the tint, So i went there on Monday to go get my truck no calls or anything saying that its ready. SoI went in on Monday and the lady told me that they ended up not doing the tint cause i didn't want to do it. Well i had told the guy that i talked with on saturday that i didn't want the truck tinted at first cause of they gave me a hard time and wasted to much of my time. But then he apologized and assured me they were gonna do a good job on the tint. She also told me that she wasn't there on saturday cause she was sick. This company is soo unprofessional and I think they ended up not doing the tint on the windshield cause it was too hard for them to make without making mistakes. She wanted to give me a extra $50 off if i wanted to do the tint for the windshield. Who the hell would want to leave there car there again after all that of a big mess. I've attended their Friday night car meets a few times. Each time I spoke to their staff, each seems fairly knowledgable in their area of expertise. Nick was helpful in answering all me tint concerns. I finally returned to get my windows tinted. Working with Melissa the store manager, I finally decided to get started with some window tint. I'd been sitting on my prescription to get the front window tinted for a while. They were a great help at picking the tint knowledgable that it must be no more then 35% up front with a rx. Or note from doctor. Which is easy tell your eye doctor your eyes hurt and strain in the sun, because Texas sun is bright and it sucks. They told me to make sure I always keep the rx on me at all times as some cops will harass you for the front window. They took me in last minute at 4 and warned me every step of the way, scrapping the back window tint off May cause problems to the rear defrosters, scratches in the glass of my car, dot matrixes on my mustangs windows they may have to sand, etc. I was there till 7pm and they weren't satisfied with the back window. Due to a plotter issue. Which I appreciate since they wasted a lot of their window film and didn't just try to hide a poor job. Even discounted me for military and an old coupon I had! Sweet! All in all I had a good time chatting with the owners, chilling on the recliners in the lobby, getting some reading done on my iPad. They constantly checked on me apologizing for the delay. These people know customer service and I'll always pay extra for great service! They may not be the cheapest in tint but I'd rather go with someone who won't disappear in 5 years if my window tint starts to crack and bubble. Oh and the ultimate tint comes with free scratch insurance. ;) When it comes to car products here's a good saying "You buy cheap, You get cheap." read more

I ended up going with the services just because I had already drove there and I had my 2 small kids with me. When the service was done they told me they will email me the receipt since there "printer wasn't working" 2 days later I still haven't receive my receipt even after I call them about it. Tint was super bubbly, scratched, damaged, car was also damaged. They redid it and it was still bubbly and damaged. Was told it would all dry out in the sun but it hasn't. I even went for the highest package to avoid any excuses. One of the tinter's came out from the back and claimed that this was the best tint job in San Antonio. He was super aggressive and blamed the car being dirty for all the mistakes. I don't understand how anyone could be proud of the job they did. The front desk staff were personable but the outcome of over $700 spent and the frustration of dealing with one of their employees simply isn't worth it. Do not recommend! read more

The worst place I have gone for Tint windows. First I told them exactly how I wanted my tint. I got the carbon film and it's was correct the first time but then I noticed that they didn't cut the film for the rear tail light. So I took it back. They took all day to fix the back window only. Then I get the car back and noticed that it wasn't the dark tint that I wanted. It was lighter then all the rest of my windows. Wtf. So I called them back and spoke to Luckey. He apparently is the owner. He argued with me about having put the wrong tint. It was clearly wrong and he almost didn't fix it. He got so defensive that he called me a lair. When I went in the store for him to see the car. He said they went by what the invoice said. Turn out the invoice they made for me wasn't right. I told him ,that their problem. So he asked what can he do to make this better. I told him to re tint all my windows with creamic tint. He said ok. When I left the store (at least he thought I left) HE STARTED TALKING SHIT ABOUT ME TO THE OTHER WORKERS!!!! That just pissed me off. And that's the owner. This all happen with in 4 weeks. It took them another whole day to fix my car when they said it will only take 5 hrs. I felt my car there for almost 10hrs At the end I was still dissatisfied with their service. Don't bother with this place. I went to another shop and they told me that all the windows are ceramic except the back window which I knew because the temperature I felt on that window compared to the rest was hotter. Good not great. Somewhat rude (Brittany) and unfriendly lady behind the counter. I would recommend going when she is not there - so call ahead and ask to speak to a friendly associate. Overall, work is decent and professional which is a shame. So the front end is weak but the back end where the work counts was much better. My interior of the car seemed well protected but outside on the running boards so I ended up doing a little cleaning. The car was brand new. Also, just minor details finger prints on the inside of the windshield. I had gotten a pretty price elsewhere but I just decided to get it done there since they got to it right away. read more

Took our M4 over there for a quote and we decided to move forward with the tint on all windows, including the windshield. We are pleased with the results, you definitely tell the difference in how much cooler it stays on the inside of the car. I can tell a big difference in the windshield, because it doesn't feel like my legs are cooking in the sun. Melissa helped us every step of the way, answering all of our questions and working with our schedule. Location 410 and bandera. Work was too quick leaving my vehicle with slop left behind. Carpet and upholstery was not reinstalled correctly, they drilled screws through bottom floor pans with sharp points comin into passenger and driver side areas found those the hard way got poked by them,had to use a hammer to bust tips away. Owner i guess shes called on the phone being loud talkin drama with her girlfriends was neither interesting or entertaining, looked trashy. Seemed inconvenienced when I needed to go to the back where a restroom was located she had to get off her ass to unlock the door,why is there no restroom in the front area instead of having to go through the installation garage?? then at billing the estimate went up nearly 200 than originally quoted. I'm giving this place two stars because the tint on my truck is good, but the service I received was terrible. I was told over the phone that the cost would be $65 and that they would add military discount on top of that. When I get there for my appointment, they say it'll be a little later than expected because they were so behind. My appointment was at 4:30 and they took my truck in around 5. They said it would take no more than 30 minutes, but took a little over an hour. I was unable to leave until after 6 pm and had to cancel the plans I had at 5:30 originally. To top it off, they said that they do not give military discount, even though I was told on the phone that they do it. I asked to speak to a manager and they said that one wasn't available. I am disappointed because this place had great reviews and I was looking forward to getting service here. It really sucks that it took so long when they said it would be quick and easy, and it really sucks that I was unable to get the military discount I was promised. read more

I've had three experiences with Tint World, and it was always great. I had my windows tinted first, which took a while to do. It was done well and correct, but several days after I noticed one of the windows had a wrinkle in it, so I brought it back in without an appointment and they fixed immediately. It was under warranty so it didn't cost anything. They seem to be slow and methodical when it comes to tinting, which is sensible. I do think anything could have been done to prevent the wrinkle. Later I had them install a new radio. They were not able to get the radio I wanted for a cheaper price than I found online, so I brought the radio in and they installed it. The radio needed some accessories for the installation, so all I had to do was tell Tint World which radio it was and they ordered the needed parts. The installation looked great and I did not think the price was bad. Everything about the radio worked as it should have. The staff was very courteous and knowledgable. I was walked through the different options without a problem. I do not have any complaints about Tint World. read more

Very disappointed! I requested a quote and I was specific on my car model etc. Tesla Model 3. I asked question afquestion to make sure I was clear. I specifically asked for my car to have tint on the back glass with no cut lines. I was quoted $379. BUT when I go there I was first told that for the back glass to have no lines it would be $89 more. Then suddenly the guy sends out tint expert guy to explain because it is a Tesl the glass is special and with the $379 plus $89 tint it could possibly shatter my windows due to the heat. So I really only had a choice of $479 tint. So I asked for a grand total and the guy tells me $650+. WHAT? I asked and he said well the seamless back glass is an extra $150. Plus tax etc. I felt like it was a trick to get me in and that I would pay anything because it is a Tesla. Well I am not going to recommend this type is deceptive practices. Shame on them. Response: Thank you for your response to my review. I went In for the $379.99 tint was ok with +$89 (that was never mentioned even though I said no cut lines on back glass) but then the technician said I could only put the $479 w/$149+ full back glass because it is a Tesla. That's what upsets me because I said several times in my quote request and the texting conversation it was a Tesla Model 3. So check with your head tint guy because he told me that corporate came down a couple weeks prior to my visit and told them that Tesla's need that certain tint. You along with the gentleman that was quoting me $379.00+ $89.00 for a Tesla are misinformed according to your head tint guy. You see my frustration? The person quoting should know this. Very simple very easy communicate. No change for my rating sad to say. read more

I called Tint World for some basic information on a new radio for my truck but wasn't exactly sure of what I wanted. I had the pleasure of getting Ms. C on the other end of the line. I explained to her what I was looking for and the features I wanted. She said instead of making me wait on hold she would do some research and call me back by the end of the day. I was surprised, to say the least, when she called me back within two hours with the requested information. She said she would email me the quote within an hour and I received it less than ten minutes later. Talk about customer service. My wife and I went to the shop on Saturday to talk to them and was equally impressed. I have an appointment on the 21st of November, my scheduling conflict not theres, for installation. I'll update my post after the installation and have a feeling it will be just as positive. Thank you to you and your awesome team. Terry R. Post update: I took my truck in for my appointment and as usual was greeted with friendliness and professionalism.. I was supposed to have my stereo and remote start installed on the same day but unfortunately that didn't happen. Now on a positive note for me, not the techs, Tint World had the luck of removing the aftermarket stereo that was in my truck when I purchased it. I had a feeling that Joe Backyard installed the stereo and sadly for Mr. D. that was the case. I think he wanted to scream when he pulled the old stereo out. He said it was a total mess in there and whomever installed it had no idea what they were doing. He worked on it until a little after 6:00 PM to finish the installation. He came out to talk to me and even asked if I wanted him to stay to install the remote start that evening. Well, being a Saturday evening and with what he had to work with I couldn't do that to him so I made another appointment to have the remote start installed. It didn't bother me because he and his staff kept me informed during the day as to what was going on with my truck whenever they came across an issue. I would not hesitate to go back to this Tint World location to have anything else updated on my truck. Everyone who works there is very professional, friendly and they know what they are talking about. I am extremely happy with the stereo that Ms. C. researched for me and the remote start is awesome. I highly recommend the folks at Tint World on Leon Valley. The technicians are more concerned with ensuring that you have a professional installation than how quickly they can move on to the next vehicle.
