Horrible and so childish. 0 stars. I came in for a bangs trim and they cut them way to short and I got made fun of at school. I called them and they were childish and said they would comment on this review and say it's fake. They are disgusting horrible liars who do not know how to do their jobs correctly. They handled the situation horribly. Do not go to them if you want to have normal hair. Came in for a toddler's haircut. I wouldn't recommend the stylist that I had. My son was scared of the blowdryer and I asked her not to use it again and she still did. She also forged ahead when he was crying hysterically and I had to ask her to pause. Not her fault but I think if you are going to offer kid's cuts that you should know best practices like explaining what you are doing before you do it (I'm going to put the blow dryer on and it's loud but it's just air and it doesn't hurt). After years of overpaying at salons for haircuts I was rarely satisfied with for the price (I have fine, limp hair that basically only looks good cut one way), I decided to give barbershops a try. Life-changer! For $20 I can justify getting my hair cut more often, so it looks much better and I don't spend a lot of time agonizing over the precise instructions to give the person cutting my hair so I don't feel like I've wasted my $60 or whatever. After trying another place down the street earlier this year, I stopped in here tonight (nothing wrong with the first place; this one is just much closer to the train). After waiting 10 minutes, I sat down for a quick cut and 20 minutes later had a much cleaner look--basically one of the best versions of my standard haircut I've had in ages--dropped two bills on them, plus tip, and was out the door. Im really glad i stopped in for a cut. You will be too. I've got to say, the Nicks of the world are generally pretty good guys. This one is no exception. Generally speaking, the barbers of the world tend to 'hear' your requests but not 'listen' to them. Thankfully, Nick is not this way. It's refreshing to receive a quality cut from a talented barber - a real 'man of his craft' type dude. And you can't really argue with a fair price for a decent service. Hot lather straight-razor shave, aftershave, cologne, massage, whatever... Simply put: they deliver. And I'm grateful to not have to pay trough the nose to get a trim around the ears. A great place for an old fashioned hot towel shave. The top of the line shave includes organic skin emollients, face massage, a straight razor and lots of hot towels for $25. I really like my experience at Cut Above on 7th. The saloon is for both men and women, and today there were two stylists on duty, one for each. The ladies one was careful to follow my instruction. She showed me right away how much she was cutting off --a gesture I really appreciate. The place is small but functioning well. Three men were done while I was doing my trim and blow-dry, and they seemed all happy. The men stylist was also really careful and chatty. Damian has done my roots twice and his attention to detail is truly impressive. He and the owner (I think his name is Bruno?) are super nice and accommodating. Very reasonable pricing. I showed them what I wanted by showing a picture of my previous cut. I told them too. They showed me the amount of hair to cut off and I agreed to it. But then they kept cutting more off. Then more off. Then more off. What the point of showing about a 1/2 an inch to 3/4 if you're going to cut off way more? Its about 3x less than what I wanted. I literally don't understand why. I told them exactly what I wanted and it seemed like they didn't even listen. They cut off way too much at the top and the back part of the top has too much hair. The top is uneven and not what I asked for. If you have longer hair go somewhere else. read more

Two very good haircuts here for my 3yo girl, Nov 2020 and March 2021. She enjoyed it and she often asks to go in for "another hairstyle!" when we pass by. Stylist stayed masked (properly) and my daughter went maskless; shop was well ventilated and not crowded. Edward is the worst provides the worst service ever. When nick is at the shop he is all nice and profesional but as soon as nick leaves or is not working, Edward rushes through the haircut and even curses. I brought my two sons in when nick was not there and Edward treated them like they were diseased and finished the haircuts in 5 minutes. NEVER AGAIN... I've been bleaching my hair A LOT for the last year at several different salons and I flat iron it daily so my hair is pretty dry and damaged. I know Bruno from my gym and he was nice enough to help me by giving me some samples of different products from his salon to help hydrate and repair my hair. Most recently he suggested I come in to the salon for a Brazilian blowout, I agreed and Bruno was so hospitable, friendly and courteous. He and Lena did my hair and I was surprised at how quickly they were done, now my frizz is gone and my hair feels soft and healthy. read more

Bruno is fantastic. Sure he's friendly and outgoing and provides great customer service, but man oh man can he cut hair. I was most impressed by his calm assurance and confidence as he worked the clippers and scissors. He was quick, but I knew that every cut he made was the exact cut he wanted to make. I was in and out in about a half hour; leaving with what my wife later called her favorite haircut I've ever had. I don't know if I'd every get my hair cut by some one who isn't Bruno. That's not so much a comment on them and more a decision that - for some one like me who hates the barber shop - once I've found a guy I like I'm not going to risk it with anyone else. The only less than perfect part of the experience was that they opened 5-10 minutes late. I hate it when businesses open late. This man knows what he's doing. Nick is friendly and accommodating. I'd say the shop is somewhere between the cheaper places like Benny's and George's and a High End Salon. Dont get me wrong I actually think Nick's work is top notch, but you get the best of both worlds. You can get a relatively cheap cut with straight razor treatment while not paying an arm and a leg. Nick also provides great service. He greets you and listens to what you have to say. His prices are a bit more expensive but worth it. The man is a master at his craft. Watch his footwork while he's moving around the chair during a cut. He knows how to work the scissors. Some of theguys at Bennys and Georges you these super big scissors and are slow. Nick got that high end salon super speed snip snip snip snip. Also, Nick's use of the clippers is amazing. He gave me a nice fade and was just super smooth with the clippers. As far as barbershops go, they don't get much better than this. Good vibes, stellar tunes on the stereo, and a bird that sings along... Oh, and a terrific haircut. But it's really all about the experience, isn't it? Getting a haircut can be unneccessarily stressful if you have curly hair, like me. The biggest challenge is getting the barber to listen, or you'll leave with much less than you bargained for. Nick doesn't just listen, he knows what you want better than you, and he knows before you even walk in. Yeah...he's that good. I appreciate confidence in a man with scissors near my ears, and Nick's got it. Sure, if you just need a buzz cut...it doesn't much matter where you go.
