One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny... Update: I provided the Amex receipt and enough details such that Arthur (the owner) knows it's not fake. I also stopped by the shop and asked to talk to him (he was not there). He has offered to fire the person and/or compensate me with $60 + a free haircut if I change the review (photos attached). Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

I'm not able to log into my previous account but I felt the need to respond to my previous review. I left a 1 star review (which you can still see, from Bryson K) and months later received this response: "I am the master barber who had the pleasure of cutting Bryson's hair that day. I am a surprised to this such negative feedback as he was happy with the work. I kept him informed of the length I would cut and got his approval every step of the way. His hair was really overgrown and he was preparing for his wedding. This groomsmen were there and all concurred on the master cut and style. We had a blast talking about everything. I hope this review does not deter anyone from trying and trusting BarbershopNYC." This is categorically false and a complete lie. I am not married and was never engaged. Nobody was there with me. We did not talk during the haircut. So it's now clear to me that not only did they give me a totally different haircut than I asked for, they are willing to lie about it to save face. Edit: I am not reviewing the wrong spot. I can see my previous review from Feb 9, 2022. It is shocking the extent to which you will lie instead of apologize. Been getting a haircut with Robert for many years now. He is excellent. Highly recommend him and this barber shop.

Ariel is a true professional at his craft. He has 35 years of experience and started cutting hair at 16 yrs old. He is an active listener and if you don't know what haircut to get he'll make a recommendation depending on your needs. Ariel is the first barber to ask me if I wanted a "hard part" and I was very surprised and excited when he asked. The hard part was a cut that originated in Victorian England, and was the norm for men in much of the 20th century for reasons of basic utility: Headwear. It has died out in contemporary times but it gives the overall haircut a much cleaner and professional look - I am absolutely in love with it! I have never written a review for a barber so this should speak volumes. read more

Visiting from the Bay Area and found this place through spending about an hour on Yelp. I was able to narrow it down between here and another barber shop. The morning of, I was looking for a last minute appointment and was able to get one here in 30 minutes which was perfect because it was a 25 minute walk away from my Airbnb. I was a bit nervous because I have colored hair and it's my first time getting a cut outside of my area. The cut was amazing! There's a lot more technique that goes into the cut than in the Bay Area. I went to Haim and he did not disappointment. Professional, talkative, and asked many questions to ensure I liked my haircut. It was fun to go to him and was excited throughout the haircut. Walked in yesterday for a haircut, 3 barbers working, they ask me to sit down and advise I'm next (no one else is waiting, just me) Fast forward 5-6 min first customer finishes, another person comes sits down as they had an appointment. Fast forward another 6-7 min and the second customer finishes and yet another person sits down as they had "appointments" which is fine, but you'd think they'd advise that there's a queue ahead of you and you're not next when you only have 25-30 min for your lunch break. Long story short they did not properly manage expectations and I wasn't able to eat lunch or get a haircut due their incompetence, they were rude on top of it. Walked out and I will never go back again and I was a regularly customer going every 2 weeks for a head shave. read more

Arthur and his staff give you the A-list treatment whenever you come in. I have always struggled with my hair, dealing with male pattern baldness, etc. Arthur has perfected my style and I feel confident about my hair. He also gives a great beard trim/shave. I went there today. I followed my barber Robert there. He moved from st Marks to NYC Barber shop. He's an excellent barber. Listens to what you want. More important he doesn't rush you out of the chair. He has always made me feel as if my hair matters. He is exactly what you want in a barber. I wanted to look sharp for my first major in-person business event tonight since 2019.
