He cut the hell out of my face three hours before a black tie event!?!? New owner. Asked me to do electric razor and I said I was worried about razor burn. He told me it would be fine and gave me a painful cut and I found this when I got home. It STINGS with water he cut it so badly. So incredibly pissed. Not sure how I'm going to show up like this. Just to update that price of a haircut went up from $25 to $30. Roman still does a good job.

Clean shave, I have gotten shaved all over the world and this was one of the best. I am not one to leave a review but the hot shave was amazing. I didn't get the barbers name but him was in his late 70 and his experience off more then 55 years showed. Thanks again read more

I get my haircut at Gentleman's Barber Shop for the past 6 years and I always leave there feeling great and looking great. I really love that they wash your hair after the cut so that you don't have to go back to work with loose hair all over the place. HORRIBLE. I asked for half an inch off the top and he took off almost 2 inches. Went super fast and barely seemed to listen to me and went straight in like a butcher. Not happy at all. When I told him after that he went to short he tried to convince me that it looked better but if that's not what your customer wants or thinks your opinion doesn't matter. One of the best places in the city to get your haircut. Tucked behind a bunch of jewelers on 47th street. Look for the candy stripe barber symbol mid block and you will find it Full haircut, wash and walk out for $23. Maybe you tip the guys the extra $7 and round up to $30. Still a great deal, quick service if you are in midtown and just need a simple man cut. I was at Astor Place for 20 years but that trip downtown was tough when you have limited time. Wont be going there again. Yea it is cheap but so is the hair cut. My barber was trying to be funny but only came across as slightly racist. I had a haircut and a beard trim. Didn't offer to shampoo. I had no wait, so whole experience of cut + wash (Shampoo/Conditioner) was under 15 minutes. I'm not part of the typical midtown finance herd so I don't get THAT typical haircut where it's one/two lengths all over and is just fugly, so I hope that provides some benchmark. In other words, I get the standard cut (2-3 on sides and 2-3 inches on top) that you'd see that guy Beckham or whatever soccer player wearing, and this guy was skilled enough to do it under 15 mins AND wash my hair. Haircuts shouldn't take more than 20 mins nor cost above $30 IMO. The guy had like 75% English and short with words so I'd imagine if you're a jerk/demanding/tough client (you know who you are) I can see him givin' it right back at you. On the other hand, if you're a chill/pleasant person he makes tiny small talk about the news on the TV, asks before doing anything, and makes sure you're happy with the cut.. If you're a no-frills dude who needs a haircut, wants it fast, washed up, and under $20 ( I give a full $20; $15-17 + tip), come here. Simple. I'd give 5, but I can't say it's perfect after only 1 visit. But I'd return and highly recommend. read more
