I was traveling for work and needed a haircut. I discovered this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot since it was close to the hotel I was staying at. The heavy man who cut my hair provided me with poor service and the worst haircut I've ever got. While I sat there in silence, I also questioned if he had disinfected the equipment. I paid 31 dollars for nothing. I would steer clear of this place at all costs. The barbers working at this shop are not skilled and are not even beginners at best. A 7-year-old kid can probably give you a better haircut. read more

Tried it out since I was in town and close to needing a haircut. Seemed like a solid place. Owner and younger guy looked like they were crushing haircuts and shaves. Unfortunately, I landed Paul. I wish someone would say I can't fade hair when you ask for a fade. It would be so much better than just giving it a rip. Guy was trying but the end state was garbage. $31 for a crappy haircut. Best fades and shaves in midtown, open late, Sergio is awesome! I went in on my lunch break and asked for him to help and trim a little, then decided to have him do whatever-- best cut I've had in years. Tried this place because it was open until 8p, so I went after my classes. I was greeted by Sergio and offered drinks while I waited. I waited less than 2 minutes and was in Amy's chair. I asked if she does razor cut and she said yes. The experience was amazing and relaxing and I loved they took cards. I have found a new barber. Amy did an amazing job and took her time. The biggest plus is they are open until 8:00p. read more

I am from PHX and was in NYC for a couple of days. I needed a cut before I went home next week so I tried this shop right down the street from our hotel based on some Yelp reviews. John is the man. Fresh cut. Clean and tight. He even helped tame a nasty cowlick that my regular barber could never get under control. Well taken care of with additional straight razor with warm shaving cream for sideburns and collar, a trim of the ears and eyebrows and a hot towel and after shave lotion. Glad I found this place! Needed a quick shape up during lunch while attending a conference. Easy to miss, but it is right off of Times Square, extremely convenient to Marriott Marquis. Got absolutely BUTCHERED here. Supremely pissed off. Be afraid. Previously got really good cuts by John (but he's gone west), and a decent job by Itzik. But this cut is a disaster. The barber this time shall remain nameless, but suffice to say did not listen to my request of "just trim the back and sides" - pretty simple stuff, you'd think. They've lost me; never again. I took my boys to get hair cuts here. They did an ok job. My 2 boys were cut by different people and I actually was hoping for the same guy to do both but it seems like they take turns. One guy did a great job he was younger. The other guy didn't understand what I wanted and did something. It didnt look bad but it wasn't what I wanted. I probably will return. read more

Had a really bad experience. I showed a picture (of me) to the barber and asked him to cut exactly like in the picture. He glanced over it for a few seconds and acted like he knew exactly what to do. The haircut looked nothing like in the picture. When I told him that, his response was "ohhh.." Not even a single "sorry" what makes me frustrated the most is that he never bothered to communicate with me. As a service provider, you should be communicating with the customer on their needs and wants. This guy never stopped to ask, "do you want the fade higher/shorter?" Absolutely nothing. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, he started to mumble something in his own language. What a wuss. Never going back here again read more

Been going here for awhile now, most of the time Itsak is my barber but sometimes the owner. Always very satisfied. Itsak has a great cutting technique/style. The shop itself has been redone and is very modern and neat. The owner always welcomes you and is always very friendly. Usually nice Sinatra music playing in the background. I was in NYC for work, and in desperate need of a haircut. Totally stumbled across Cohen Barbershop and took a chance. Little did I realize I was in for one of the best haircut experiences of my life. It had an old-school, big-city vibe with professional and friendly folks. Sergio listened to what I wanted, and delivered. He was a master with the clippers and brush, and his straight razor precision was unbelievable. The warm shaving cream was perfect, and the hot towel at the end was over-the-top. If you are anywhere near his place, do yourself a favor and pay a visit. I have gone several times now and all of the barbers there do an excellent job. Great shampooing and shaving as well, and relatively inexpensive. Definitely not a family friendly place, though, as they have Playboy magazines in the waiting area! read more
