I was a loyal customer of Francine for over seven years since before the coronavirus pandemic. All was well until about 3 months ago , when I decided to try getting my hair cut by a different barber due to a horrible hair cut that she gave me that was uneven and not to my liking. That new barber, happened to be located in the same building as Francine, and she unfortunately happened to have walked by and saw me getting my haircut by him during my appointment. How awkward! I decided about a month ago that I wanted to give her another chance so I reached out to her to schedule a haircut and she informed me that all of a sudden for me she would only accept cash and not card even though she always has accepted Venmo card etc. Because of this, I did not follow through with the appointment as I did not have any cash on me and didn't wanna go to bank. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She then texted me earlier today informing me that she does not want my business and that I am not the right "fit".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I thought that she was a great person, but I came to realize after today that she is not someone to do business with and I highly recommend everyone consider this review before going to her, although I'm sure she's going to respond to me and deny these claims, but I have evidence. This could've been great but I left feeling tense and relieved simultaneously. I forget the barber's name, but he appeared to have had a rough night and wasn't having it. Swearing, sighing at each and every call that was coming in. It's a business... I couldn't tell if he was joking or being serious. I think it was both. He insulted the guy's haircut in front of me and then accused him of not liking his cut because of his perceived expression as he was leaving. Once I sat in the chair, he was yanking my beard around and was really abrasive. He kept "joking" about not fighting with the barber...I don't know, maybe he's getting into plenty of fights with folks with that unfiltered way of talking to people. It was just bad energy all around. I work in service and I've had my fair share of dealing with unpleasant people, but this experience was off-putting. The trim itself served as a good foundation but by no means was it stellar. It was a very aggressive, toxic alpha type environment that was fostered in this little space. Again, the cut was okay but the delivery was really unprofessional. If you don't mind that kind of environment where swearing and derogatory slurs are thrown around, then come here. I don't appreciate that type of environment. I won't be returning here. read more

I rode my bicycle to the "Lounge" for a first time hair cut, beard trim and shave at this shop. Francine, an owner with her husband, Dave, was finishing up with a customer when I entered. Soon after she was washing my overgrown hair and we began discussing what type of cut would be best! A half hour or so later I was totally pleased with the results. Perfect hair cut and beard trim with clean shaven neckline were worth the $75.00. While I am used to spending far less for a plain haircut, this one was worth the higher than usual price for me! Don't go here. Dave completely ruined my hair which I had been growing for a full year. I wanted a long hair cut and he did the complete opposite. He shaved my hair and now everyone I meet says I look too bald on the side. No surprise considering Dave used a 0 to shave all the way down to my scalp, which he informed me after I was horrified upon putting on my glasses and looking in the mirror. I have asian hair and Dave was the first to say that it's difficult to work with. Absurd because I've been getting hair cuts all my life from various professional salons and I've only heard the complete opposite. Save yourself and don't go here. Pros: decent cut, last minute availability, cheap Cons: the whole experience. The guy who cut my hair was exuberant to the point of being aggressive. Pushing on my face, pulling my glasses off without asking, singing along to the same song multiple times, being jovial and overly familiar and pushy in a way that was clearly making me uncomfortable.
