They carry only high quality dog and cat food, as well as treats and supplies. It's always nice to see that. They also seem to have the coolest kitty condos - they aren't like the ones you'll see in the chain stores, they're pretty unique looking - and comparably priced (I think I'm going back for one of those!). The guy who runs the shop is really nice and there are a couple of friendly cats who roam the store as well. There is a kitten rescue organization through here, Kitten Angels, and I think they have adoption clinics on Saturdays. We decided to rescue our cats through here and introduced them to our dog with our trainer present; the store was very accommodating. We ended up with two adorable little kittens - one black, one calico - and our house is now quite an exciting place with two cats and a dog. :-) The rescue fee was $100 which doesn't even come close to covering their costs of spaying and having the cats up to date on their shots. I believe some of the cats who aren't in the store are in foster care. It seems like a really good organization and it's nice to see them working with Delmar Pet Supply.

I have actually shopped here, against my better judgement. I fell in love with a young Syrian (teddy bear) hamster and had to bring her home. Two weeks later, she gave birth to eight pups, because this store apparently can't be bothered to segregate the small animals by sex. I could have just taken the pups back, but I couldn't bear to take them back there, so I separated the boys and girls at hamster puberty and found them homes myself.

I was there today and it wasn't busy, but the shipment was being unloaded. I pulled my ticket but no one was calling out numbers. I finally asked a woman for help but she said "I don't work here but I'll let them know". At that point I just left. I've been ignored there for 25 years going back to the old Latham location. One positive experience I had was a few years ago. They had species plant I wanted but there was only a couple left. The salesman informed me that they had some that were yet to be unpacked in the back room. Long story short he was reprimanded for selling plants that weren't yet in the display case (in front of me while I was checking out). That ruined the experience and made me feel I did something wrong. So I guess I never had a positive experience, I just witnessed someone going above and beyond being treated like trash. It's sad to say, but I'm actually happier walking in and not seeing anything I want to buy. The stressful part is seeing something I want and having to jump through hoops to get someone's attention and get service. As a marine biologist, during a recent…read morevisit my husband and I were disappointed to see Eddie's Aquarium Centre housing incompatible species together -- for example, Flagtail Porthole Catfish (Dianema urostriatum), Kribensis Cichlids (Pelvicachromis pulcher), Butterfly Plecos (Dekeyseria sp.), and Congo Tetras (Phenacogrammus interruptus) in the same tank. These fish require different water parameters and have very different temperaments, which creates stress and weakens their immune systems. Stressed fish are far more likely to develop ich (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, or "white spot disease"), and once one fish is infected, the entire tank is at risk. Unfortunately, stores that mix species like this often deny responsibility and may mislead customers to avoid refunds or replacements. For anyone buying fish from any store that displays mixed species, I strongly recommend quarantining and proactively treating for potential bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections before adding them to your main aquarium. This precaution protects both your tank and your fish.

It's run by volunteers who will work with low income residents to provide affordable spay / neuter services before adoption. You can meet the cats and kittens at The Pet Stop on Columbia Turnpike in East Greenbush. It's where I met a tiny gray tabby who stole my heart. She was extremely frightened, stunted from malnourishment and the only cat left after a flurry of adoptions cleared all of the other cages that weekend. I was told she was the only one left due to her shyness, but it didn't matter. I brought her home and named her, Sweetie. She came out of her shell almost immediately and is thriving. Operation Snip has a spay/ neuter mobile unit. Its work is largely funded through donations. There will be a fundraiser on Sunday at The Pet Stop and donations can also be made via Venmo @OperationSnip. The group has a Facebook page and a website: https://operationsnip.org/ The volunteers are really nice and so dedicated. It's wonderful to watch the excitement and joy as families show up to adopt the cats and kittens. That was me not that long ago.

My shih-tzu used to love to be groomed until she became blind. Then she refused to be clipped in…read moreany way. She became matted under her chin and armpits. Petsmart would not groom her because she became so anxious they thought she'd have a heart attack. Her nails really needed trimming so I called The Pet Stop and they cut her nails. I asked about grooming and made an appointment. She looks so good now. All trimmed up and beautiful. I'm so grateful to this place and to the owner!!
