i'm someone that almost always has my nails done, i usually do them myself at home, but i've finally gotten to a point in my life where i'm tired of having to repaint my nails every few days when they start to chip- so for the last couple of months i've been getting gel manicures once a month at cute! actually, before starting to come to cute, i'd never gotten a manicure before. so at first, i was a little anxious about the whole thing, but everyone has always been super nice. i've gone to a different artist each time, but have had a lovely time with everyone so far! maddi did my orange nails, tia my green ones, and renna did the custom art. every manicure i've gotten has lasted for at least 3 weeks, and could probably go even longer if i needed it to. i love that cute is open late, because i have a wack schedule where i usually don't get off work until 7pm and i'm also a huge fan of the service industry discount they do on sundays/mondays because literally nothing feels better than treating yourself after a long week of getting yelled at by customers. read more

This review has been long overdue. I've been coming to Cute for 2 years. I initially chose to come to Cute because I was interested in getting my first Brazilian wax done due to the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. I have seen several estheticians but Elyse will forever be a fan favorite. She is so easy to talk to, hilarious, and was in Allure magazine?? Also she can do a Brazilian in as little as 7 minutes. I will be coming to Elyse forever. I had found a fav nail technician (Myriam) but she recently left to branch out on her own. Nonetheless, the nail artists on E 7th have all taken such wonderful care of my nails and toes. The restroom has Sailor Moon wallpaper on it too if you're into that. I did have a poor experience at the S Congress location earlier this month. It was eerily quiet on a Saturday afternoon, when one would expect it to be busy. I had to wait 30 minutes to be helped even with no bustling activity around. My nail artist was distant, did no cuticle work, and did not apologize for the time I had to spend waiting. I expressed my disappointment to the receptionist and they were quick to fix it. I'm a long time client and I wouldn't go anywhere else, so it really meant a lot they were willing to offer a discount and their apologies. Miscellaneous: The parking on E 7th is a small lot, but if you have the Park ATX app you can park on the street parking along Attayac and E 6th. It's super cheap, depending on how long you're parking there (less than $5) and I'm assuming if you have the funds to afford service at Cute, you can afford to pay to park if needed. Overall, love Cute, willing to pay a premium price for such high attention to sanitary measures and nail care, and really appreciate the environmental consciousness they bestow in cotton towels over paper towels, and nail bags for each client to bring back to each appointment. read more

I love Cute!! I've been going for Gel Nails since December 2018. All the staff members that have worked with me have been wonderful, but Abigail is my go-to tech. I go every two 1/2 weeks and get gel over my real nails. Lately I've been getting simple art or custom. They even have a great retail section with adorable rings and cosmetics. I had very high hopes for this place but unfortunately it didn't live up to the expectation. I had shown Vanity what I had wanted, she told me that it was fine, so I was under the impression that she could do what I wanted and she did a very half ass job . To anyones eyes they wouldn't look good at all, they looked like flare nails. That very day when I got home, one of the nails just fell off without anything causing them to. The next day the same thing happened, I've already lost 3 nails. I had to file them to my liking at home after she told me they couldn't be altered (even though clearly they could because I did it myself). She basically gave me press on nails for $93. read more

This is, hands down, the best nail studio in Austin! They work very hard to create a comfortable and fun space and are pros at all of the services they offer. Haley is particularly fantastic if you need a stellar manicure! They offer a 25% discount to service workers (they thankfully consider that a broad category) on Sundays and Mondays and are open late most nights. As a nurse I greatly appreciate this. Went in for my first actual manicure ever and I could not be happier! My nail tech Salma did gel polish on me and it's amaaazing! My hands look so nice and clean because of how great the manicure was. The building is eye catching with its rainbow paint job and the inside is just as visual! Literally the best, easiest Brazilian wax I've ever had. I have very sensitive skin and my skin was not red or irritated afterwards at all. The wax they use is very gentle. Megan was wonderful and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. It was all over quickly and then I got to pick a lollipop when I was done! I used to routinely go to a national chain waxing place, and it was always super painful and my skin would break out into hives and was red or irritated. This would also lead to bumps and ingrowns later. My mind is blown that waxing does not have to be that painful or uncomfortable. I love this place and I'll be back soon for sure. It's not just LGBTQ+ friendly, but a safe space. All of their services are for any gender, same price. I love that they are gender inclusive. The whole place is beautiful inside and out. The receptionist was also friendly and wonderful. Everyone was wearing masks and everything is very clean. Chow did an amazing job on my nails. I spend most of my time in boxing gloves or wrestling folks and my gel mani lasted 2 weeks no problem. There was this really special moment in the middle of Jiu Jitsu where I stopped to admire my nails while they were around someone's throat. Update: nail redo Had a great customer service experience after my not so great first manicure. Came back in for a complimentary manicure and my nails came out a million times better. The tech did such a good job on my Cuticles and my nail polish is thin and even. I'm really happy with how everything turned out this time and with all the creativity and options here this place definitely deserves 5 stars Old review: The good: -the place is cute - the people are friendly -tons of options, colors, designs! This place is appropriately positioned on the East side with loads of parking and that's a big deal. What's more important is that I've gotten my nails done here multiple times and each time (toes too) I've been so stoked. I was stoked walking up to the rainbow building. Well, I stand VERY corrected on my initial review. While their works is indeed beautiful, and the salon itself is made of magic. Their product and willingness to correct their shortcomings is less than stellar. I have gotten two gel manicures now which I was assured were completely indestructible and required special product to take off. My first manicure's overlay started peeling off by day 3. In less than a week all of my nails had chipped off and then peeled right up. When I came back in a month later, they changed their story about how tough their gel is and then charged me $10 to take off my nail polish that I used to cover up their mistake. I spent another $80 for a single color on my natural nails with some glitter overlay. in 48 hours I has lost one nail completely and having JUST gotten engaged that same day, I called them in a panic, and they were less than willing to accommodate me for ONE nail repair. Using the same exact color, same code and all, the nail was redone and was visibly several shades darker. I got charged AGAIN and left. Within two more days, every single nail chipped, or came off. With tip and repair I now have the most decrepit, janky manicure that $100 can buy. I reached out to the salons email for help, and ZERO response. Here's a picture of what $100 will buy you for 5 days of enjoyment. I really wanted to like them, and shame on me for being fooled twice now. I WONT be going back, that's for sure. Initial review: This place is WELL worth the wait to get in! I was instantly in love the second I walked in, it's absolutely adorable and everyone is SO nice! I brought in a picture of an iridescent sequin bathing suit and Chow hand applied tiny sequins and unicorn overlay to my nails, and it matched perfectly! There's literally nothing these magic babes cant do there! If you can dream it up, they will make it happen for you. Their products are so gentle and stand up to the elements. I love this place. It is super adorable and inclusive. You can be a lady, a dude, or a mermaid, and you're gonna get the same friendly service here. You can also be a boring, unhip old straight person with bad hair (like me) and you will still be welcomed warmly. This place is for everyone who wants to get their nails done. No caveats!!! It's not exactly a spa-like atmosphere, and I wouldn't come here for pedicures or pampering. The focus is obviously nail art, with gel and acrylic extensions on the forefront. HOWEVER, I have personally only ever had gel manicures here on my natural nails, and they've done a great job. I've seen both Megan and Chow and they are both wonderful. They put a LOT of time and work into their designs, so the price is justified. I think both of my last manicures here took 2+ hours. I really wish I could afford to come every two weeks, because my nails grow very fast. As it is I will have to make it a once-a-month treat. I have to say I'm super impressed with how long their gel polish lasts. I can EASILY go two weeks with no peeling or chipping at all, and I'm hard on my nails. My dumbass nails just grow stupidly fast. The Japanese gel they use is really the best I've ever had. Oh and they keep giving me wine the whole time I'm there. Chow and everyone else at the salon always make sure I'm comfortable and happy, and I always leave feeling special and sparkly. Last time, Chow suggested I try the new 420 pedi, and it was so cute! It came with a CBD bath bomb and Flaming Hot Cheetos, and they even gave me chop sticks to eat the Cheetos so my fingers wouldn't stain, hahaha! I learned so much just in my first appointment with Nicole on how my nails were SUPPOSED to be done. I have clear acrylic over my natural nails and get gel on top of that for the colors and each time I would get my nails filled or a new set, they would pulse from the pain. Cute is a magical place filled with awesome humans that create a safe space to indulge in self care. I don't do my finger nails, but their pedis are amazing and long lasting. Let's talk about their polish- I own almost every color and they are also super quality and last a week on my grubby ass gardening fingers with hard use. Let me mention that their products are formulated without garbage ingredients so you can use it on your kids. I also get the monthly sub box that is full of good smelling treats that have kept me sane over the last few months.
