I had a good experience at this nail salon. They were able to take me without an appointment, and the atmosphere and music were really nice. I loved the paraffin on my hands -- such a thoughtful touch -- and they had great nail color choices. The only downsides were that the nail technician was on her phone during the service, they didn't use a nail‑dry spray for a regular manicure, and they tried to upcharge for a regular French manicure. Overall, still a pleasant visit with room for improvement. read more

Recent first visit to this salon in the Kent lands. Atmosphere is typical. It is clean and I like that each person gets their own set of instruments such as file, etc. i also like that points are earned for dollars spent. Pedicure was pleasant enough. But I didn't like that they filed off the gel polish I had on instead of soaking it off. Also, the gel pedicure comes with a paraffin dip for the feet, which is nice. I paid eight dollars extra for callus removal, but the gel was not left on long enough to do anything so it was a complete waste of money. That's a bit disappointing. I recently moved here and was looking for my go-to salon in the area. If you go to Tina or Vicky, your experience may be different. I saw Tina the very first time and was blown away with how kind & how good she was. I've also seen people love their work with Vicky & the girl to the right of Tina. However the second & third time I've been has been with this other lady who didn't bother talking to me so I never learned her name. She cut so deep into my cuticle I started bleeding everywhere, it hurt so bad she had to put this solution that NUMBED it without asking me or apologizing! I asked what it was and she couldn't explain it? I then had to ask the technician next to her... I should've gotten some sort of apologize or discount. Then a guy took over, probably because she's not the best and then charged me extra for different nail colors?? I've never heard of this from a salon before but whatever I was still remembering about my first time there and was like maybe it was a bad experience let me try one more time with a gel mani/pedi. Unfortunately I got the same girl again. She doesn't clean your feet well for a pedicure, and then could not understand the design I was asking for that that was relatively simple (just a ghost, aka a white blob lol). After some time of her trying to do it, I was like sure good enough and just gave up. Charged me more for the design than Tina did even though Tina's was way more complex, and then goes to say every tech's design charges are different?? Then the bundle they had for gel mani-pedi went up by $10 within a couple months? So now it's not really a savings bundle, just flat rate. Due to "change in owners" they claimed... Then! My nails start chipping/peeling after a week!!! It completely ruined my nail bed. In my 6+ years of getting my nails done, I've never had this happen to me before. Please stay away from the girl whose desk is second from the left. I will not be coming back. Their surcharges are ridiculous on how they tackle them on last minute without prior communication. I would've not tipped from these past experiences but I'm not that petty... There's a couple more salons in the area that I might try & deserve my service. I guess I'm still on the hunt. read more

Katie took such great care of me that I already scheduled my next appointment in a month! She was extremely careful and gentle but also very clean. The salon is extremely pink which was a little overwhelming at first but all the technicians are so mellow that you quickly forget about whatever anxiety you had before you started. I'm bringing my boyfriend next time for mani & pedi. A lot of places tend to rush through the process but he pays the same price and doesn't even get polish! I have spent years, searching, for the perfect nail boutique and after this desolate journey of knock-off Shellac and horrible gel manis, I have finally found that their is a nail goddess... her name is Holli, who runs this wonderful nail boutique. I decided to ignore the reviews on this nail salon because I wanted to give the place a shot but unfortunately, what I asked to get wasn't exactly what I received and will not be returning. Upon arriving, I was quickly seated. My gel manicure probably took about 20 minutes as I saw that the nail technician was rushing and trying to do my nails as soon as possible. This is my favorite place to get my nails did! It is a cute, little nail salon located in the Kentlands. Very clean and very pink (like a place Elle Woods from Legally Blond would go to)! All of the nail technicians are very friendly and personable, and they always do an excellent job on your nails. They also have many choices of colors. It gets pretty busy during the weekends so I definitely recommend making appointments ahead of the time. The past two times I have been there, I dropped by last minute and they have been booked the rest of the day, but they have been nice enough to slip me into their schedule. :) read more

From the pink walls, with quotes from Audrey Hepburn scribbled in them, to the cute and sassy sayings posed all around the shop, this place is positively charming! I came in for a pedicure and received both prompt and friendly service. I didn't feel like I was on an assembly line, the way I do with some of the nail salons in the city (where they try to get you in and out as fast as possible in order to make room for the next wave of customers). The vibe was relaxed but the work was carefully done. I got the callous remover treatment, because I still have a thin layer of scar tissue on the bottom of one of my feet from a biopsy I had back in January. I wasn't sure that the flimsy little file she was using was going to get the job done (my nail tech looked like she was having trouble using it a few times). To my surprise, my feet were smooth long after she had completed my pedicure I noticed, that she did miss a small section on both of my feet that needed smoothing, but it was nothing I couldn't take care of at home. I think $35 is a little steep for a pedicure with callous remover (which is $5 extra), but overall it was good work. When the work was done, my nail tech invited me to either relocate to the nail drying station or hang out where I was and let my polish air dry. I was comfortable where I was, so I sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the salon's free WiFi as I caught up on the day's news and events. I've always felt that pedicures should be a relaxing event, not something that feels like maintenance. I definitely got that experience here I get my nails done at another shop, but I don't get pedicures from them anymore because the polish will chip after just a few days. So far, the polish job they did at Cute Tips is in still tact. If it remains that way, I'll definitely be coming back. read more

this is the cutest nail salon i've been to in america... they do not offer the paraffin treatment but after looking stuff up online i learned that paraffin treatment is just a quick fix thing and isnt really good to get often.. and because of that i decided to try this place out and because the ratings on yelp.. anyways.. i went with my mom last saturday and got her the spa pedicure and mani and they seemed to do a great job with the pedicure so i made an appointment for me and my sister and went back today and i really liked it... so i got my other sister a gift card so she can get the spa pedicure.. THEY HAVE GREAT MASSAGE CHAIRS AS WELL! ;D cindy did my moms feet and she did my sisters feet today. i have a younger girl and i think they both did a good job. my feet were so nasty and whats worse is that i had a pedicure 2 weeks ago at avalon in montgomery mall and i would def stay away from there cus its a waste of $50.. they do have a lot of colors. they carry mostly essie, opi and color club (i love the colors from color club and i love how their polish isnt as watery) so i was really glad when i found out they carried color club. i however went with essie's camera and ahhh i regretted it so much after. haha i can't wait to go back and get polish change or another pedicure which i will be trying to get every month or so. i usually do my nails and feet but i would def go back to get my feet done.. i would probably just get the callous remover pedicure next time.. but we'll see :) def check it out because they are also very welcoming.. they are usually booked so i would call and make an appt.. they do allow walk-ins but the two times i've been there it was really hard to squeeze people in.. read more

I'm giving 4/5 stars because I once went to get my nails done and the tech seemed much more interested in doing her own nails and had a bit of an attitude when I wanted to get my nails done. Cute Tips has been my go to nail salon when I want to treat myself. I cheated on them one time and went somewhere else since it was closer to my house and I was trying to save money (turns out they were only $3 cheaper anyways...and completely not worth it). Cute Tips is seriously the best nail salon out there. The prices are reasonable, they may be a tiny bit more expensive (like a negligible difference) but it's worth it for the experience. Holly knows how to run a business, it completely shows. The salon itself is adorable, hot pink accent walls, a crystal chandelier above the desk, Audrey Hepburn quote on the wall...they knew what they were doing when they decorated this place. Make sure you make an appointment. This hidden gem isn't so hidden anymore, and there's good reason why. My search for my 'go to' nail salon continues. I was really excited about visiting this place and it is definitely a great nail place, but it didn't blow my mind. The decor is very cute. I'm not all that girly, but I still appreciate the pink and black and attention to detail. They also probably have what may be the best massage chairs I've sat in thus far. Plush and rich with a good shiatsu, these are absolutely not cheap chairs. They have good polish selections, but getting a nail design is a must for me. I called ahead to ask if they did them - they said they do. When I asked for one from my nail person though, she curtly said she doesn't do them, she doesn't know how. That was all she said. I timidly asked if anyone does, to which she answered yes. I don't know if it's because I'm not much a talker, but the friendliness I had first encountered had slipped away by this time in the pedicure. My nail artist seemed a bit like she was just trying something out, instead of someone who was comfortable with doing designs. It turned out looking nice, but I still would have appreciated more confidence. Perhaps I'm being too hard on all these places, but I want to feel like I've been pampered when I get my nails done, instead of it feeling like it's a bit of a beauty chore. read more

After just one visit, Cute Tips has won me over - I had the best experience here today. It was such a stellar experience that it warrants a same-day review! The technicians at Cute Tips know their customers - I noticed that every customer that walked in was greeted and the owner and the technicians knew all of them by name. For the 45 minutes that I was there, I heard constant chatter about family, friends, etc. - all personal topics. As a first-time customer, I felt welcomed and warmed with great conversation and a good atmosphere. The Food Network was playing on a big screen TV in the back, and the venue is very clean and well-kept. Additionally, I noticed that there were only a few technicians and a few seats - Cute Tips books their appointments well so that only a few people are inside at a time. Thus, no customer feels crammed and has to wait too long for a manicure. My technician, Dee, did a meticulous job on my shellac French manicure. She carefully filed down my nails and applied the polish - my nails felt so cared for, and I am so pleased with the result of my manicure. I'll definitely be back in a few weeks once I need another manicure. Cute Tips is on the pricier side - $35 for a shellac manicure, $40 for my French. However, the warm atmosphere of the salon and the way the salon's employees know their customers on a personal level will definitely have me coming back. Ive been to a lot of nail salons, and nothing compares to Cute Tips. All of the girls are great! I got my nails done there for the first time about a year ago, and have been going back routinely ever since. They are always on time and the cleanliness of the salon is IMMACULATE. I have never been to a salon that is kept in the condition that cute tips is. Every time I go, I am greeted with a warm welcome, it is truly a pleasure. I typically get my nails done by Marley, but I would feel comfortable going to any of the girls there. Marley is so knowledgable and super friendly. I had never gotten my nails done before last summer, so this was my first manicure experience. First off, the cost for just a basic manicure (no gel/acrylic) is only $15 + a tip, and I had expected a little more. The inside of the spa looks adorable. It's a small but well-organized space. I got my nails painted light orange (OPI Crawfishin' for a Compliment). The whole process was very relaxing and affordable! The staff were friendly to all customers: walk-ins and appointments. My manicure lasted for 2-3 weeks with no chipping. They did a fantastic job! read more

This place gave what is most likely the worst manicure I've ever received. The woman who did my nails (I think her name was Helen), could not have been in any more of a rush. She clipped and filed my nails but they were jagged and uneven, and the paint job she did looked like a kindergartener had gone to town on my nails. The owner came over to take a look when I complained, and I showed her how the tips looked chipped right after they'd been polished and her response was, that's your skin. They lost me at that point. I asked them to take the polish off completely, as I would just go to another salon to get my nails fixed. They were rude throughout the whole transaction, and the owner got snide with me and said, WELL I OFFERED TO FIX IT! I told her no way in hell did I want anyone there touching my hands ever again. Left and went across the street to ST Nails and Spa. They fixed the damage (which unfortunately led to super short nails after they had to file down the jagged edges) and did a good polish job. I'm not from Gaithersburg but it seems like there are enough other salons in the area that you don't need to settle for this nightmare. read more

Holly is wonderful! I love going to cute tips inside is always extremely clean and well maintained! The color on the wall is very inviting and it's nice having someone to chat with (Holly) while I am getting my nails done. I normally go to get gel (shellac) on my nails and have only had one issue with the white tips coming off before my 2 week appointment, I went in with this concern and the nail tech fixed it for me at no charge! VERY thankful for that! My only complaint is the obvious and normal complaint that most of the nail techs don't hold conversations with you, they proceed to have conversations with each other in a different language so I am unable to contribute. I went here after reading all the great reviews. I was a bit disappointed, it was just like any other average place I had been to. The only difference being everyone here spoke decent english, but I dont go to a nail salon for conversation. The pedicure was like I would have given myself at home. Didnt buff the nails properly, or remove dry skin properly, the pumice scrub felt like a tickle!!. As for the manicure, they shaped my nails weirdly! I dont think she did a good job of cutting the cuticles, which is the main issue I have at a lot of the salons. Maybe because I was a first time customer there, or I didnt get a great technician. My mani and pedi took less than an hour! The place is clean and like everyone else said - a very bright pink. Dont know about the equipment, though. She just took everything out of a drawer. They did seem to know some of the customers by name, which means they have a lot of regulars. I will probably go once more (coz its so close to my home) and see if the situation is better. Due to the great reviews, I took a chance. The atmosphere is everything that it should be...very clean, cozy, and comfortable. However, as a first time customer, I am very disappointed with the French Tips I received. This is a classic style that should not be difficult to mess up. The white part of the tips do not go to the edge of my nail and the the light colored polish that goes over the entire nail is only in the middle. The sides are practically empty without any polish. I noticed two messed up nails while sitting at the table, and I'm assuming that the lady who came over was the owner. She had the nail tech fix one of the nails. She said nothing about the other messed up nail. Towards the end of my manicure, the nail tech was rushing it along because the next client had arrived. I believe that is why the work looks so sloppy and clearly she didn't care. I paid ($60 for spa mani/pedi) and left. Once I got home, I showed some friends my nails and they held them in sunlight and that's when you can really see all the details of the issues. I am going on vacation tomorrow morning, so I cannot go back and get this fixed. I'm stuck with these awful French Tips. Overall...nice salon, but this was a horrible first mani/pedi experience...Poor work on the French Tips. I will not be returning. Trying to find a nail salon in the Kentlands is like trying to find BBQ place in Memphis. But I have never been happier with a manicure, than I have with the one I got here. This place is amazing. Usually I just get my nails done wherever, but this place is so clean, professional and stylish, I don't want to go anywhere else. I got a shellac manicure 10 days ago and it still hasn't chipped. The best thing about this place has to be the ambiance. I'm a super girly girl and everything is pink and glamed out. You can tell they didn't cut corners and don't mind spending a little extra money to make the place look nice. Not to mention the salon was immaculate. The service was superb. Walk in's are welcomed but the place does get busy so I highly recommend making an appointment. It's fairly priced for a mani/pedi.
