Despite being less than 10 min late, the person who was supposed to cut my hair was gone.

When I lived in St. Louis from 2014-2019, this was my go-to spot. They had been great. Courteous, kind, accommodating, and a damn good hair cut. I have since moved, but just got back in town for a wedding and desperately needed a haircut, so I had booked a 10:20 AM appointment for today a couple days in advance. I ended up getting there about 8 min late, which happens (and occasionally happened back in the day when I frequented them but with no issue). No one was there. There was a sign that said she'd return at 11. I waited till 11, and she showed up. She said I was more than 10 min late (false) so she can't help me. She very rude about it, arguing with me about when I said I came and how late I was, and emphasizing how she needed to take her 30 min break. No discussion of fitting me in, no initial call to me when she was thinking of going on break. She was focused on herself, not the customer. While the customer is definitely not always right, they should be treated with some semblance of respect. Overall a very unprofessional experience, and very disappointing given the positive experiences I had here for five years. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth when all I had wanted was a nostalgic experience at what used to be my favorite spot to get my hair cut and have a beer.

Having worked in salon admin roles (without them knowing), I would give this barbershop NO stars. Tragic, right? So was the entire experience. To begin, they didn't get my friend's name correct, and when we corrected them- it turned into a running joke. Unprofessional. They offered me 2 different beers and I didn't drink both and because of that she said I was picky and should have accepted any free beer I was offered. Sorry I don't drink Heineken. The entire time we were there, the 3 ladies continually insulted other coworkers that weren't there, their management, and their place of work. They obviously don't wanna work there and if you ask me, they shouldn't work anywhere with the way they acted. Cussing is absolutely unnecessary in ANY business in front of customers and new guests. Get this... my stylist DIDN'T LET THE OTHER GIRLS ANSWER THE PHONE because they didn't wanna do any more haircuts despite an open schedule (at 2pm). How unprofessional is that? I didn't know that businesses turn away money. She told them she would cut them with her scissors if they answered it and booked her an appointment. AGGRESSIVE! I showed the stylist, Misty, how I wanted my hair to look (a BASIC fade and a few millimeters of the top), yet somehow that meant an all over #1 and over an inch off the top. WHAT?! Did she take things into her own hands and decide herself how she thinks I should look? What am I paying you for? I am very particular about my hair and am huge on styling it and it is now so short I cant even do anything with it. My friend's hair was also done incorrectly by Katie and he asked to have nothing taken off the top because his hair doesn't grow fast and is thinning, yet after his haircut she told him she thought it was best to take some off because it looked like he had "dead ends" (which isn't her call to make, especially in his circumstances). However, she is probably a better haircutter than mine. If you are looking to have your hair ruined and want to hear about how miserable these women are and how much they hate working, you should come here. If you want a quality haircut, you should go anywhere else. I hope I can be in touch with management soon.

Got a haircut here for the first time yesterday. The whole experience is very convenient, from the online reservation system to the accessible location in the basement of the Chase. For a $15.00 student rate, you get a standard men's haircut, shampoo in a massage chair, and a free drink. You can also get your parking validated here, too. I'd come back here again. I'm not picky about haircuts, but am pretty pleased a day after the experience (and normally it takes me a good three days to get used to my newly-shorn head!) Only downside is that the place is kind of hot and not so clean. It felt a little cramped and crowded and despite the massage, it was hard to unwind completely. I don't know why this jumped out at me, but the overhead lighting was also pretty hideous. Recommended, ask for Kelly, who was recommended to me. Will probably be back in a few months!

Complimentary drinks while you wait for your cut.

Finding stylists/barbers and dentists always seems to be one of those tricky things when you move…read moreto a new area. There are a ton of options, but it can take a while to find that right one that just meshes with your own tastes. You want that mixture of great service, price, and ease of access. I've been going to the same place to get my haircut for the last several years. Due to an unexpected emergency at the shop, I had to scramble to find a new place to get a haircut while under a deadline. I booked an appointment for Scissors & Scotch as it had great reviews online. When you walk in the first thing you encounter is a bar. Scissors & Scotch has a bit of an unusual model that I didn't expect. They work on a subscription basis so it is closer to joining a gym then just being a regular at at barber/salon. Depending upon what level you join at increases the type of alcohol you have access to (e.g. basic = draft beers, higher levels = top shelf liquor). It is kind of a nice idea, and the vibe is one that is unique to shops I've been to. The haircut I got was pretty good and the stylist I got was personable. Overall all of the staff were very welcoming. So given these positive things, why am I overall giving a relatively poor rating? Well, I had an appointment schedule and didn't actually get my haircut started until an hour after my booked time. I have kids and I was fitting in my haircut in on my way home from work. When I have an appointment, I need that to to actually happen. I don't have a lot of free time between work and family, so no matter now nice the trappings I don't want to sit there for an hour just spinning my wheels. I do need a beer on my way home from work, I need something that works with my busy schedule. The cost was also relatively high. It made me feel like I had to consume the include drink to remotely justify the price. That just didn't sit well with me at the end of the day. I can see for some guys it being worth the money to join the program and drop $100+ monthly for a haircut. For me the cost wasn't worth it (I'm a pretty straightforward cut). Again, the thing that really gave me a negative impression was the wasting an hour of my time.

Today was my first time here. Convenient appointment on the website. Friendly introduction to the…read moreshop with lounge on one side and haircut on the other side. Free drinks include whiskey, beer and cocktail I think. Everything went well and KT took great care of me. They offer a membership program for anyone looking for regular grooming.
