I got a haircut from Billy today and I read a couple of the reviews on him so I figured he was pretty good but he did not do what I asked for in terms of the fade. I showed him several photos and I'm growing my hair back so it was a simple job I felt like - mid to high skin fade with a little drop in the back. I'm definitely disappointed with the haircut and it's the first time I've ever wanted my money back. I know that's not going to happen but Overall it's not a clean fade and he took me up too high in the back. In all honesty, the whole left side doesn't look blended. He's a nice guy and gives friendly service, however I won't be going back after this first time. I need someone that can do a decent fade. read more

Nikki was amazing to say the least, super chill for starters, somehow got me in the day before thanksgiving (cuz my dumbass forgot to get a hair cut), cuts my hair like she's on a mission from God, turns me into a Greek God making Hercules jealous, and THEN I SAY I SAY THEN!!!!! proceeds to try and fucking charge me like a quarter of the the normal price because she thought it wasn't "good enough or too quick" i dont remember her lame excuse. Megan is the real deal. I travel for work so I'm always looking for a new barber. Sometimes it works out great, sometimes not. Megan was one of the best I've had! She really understood what I wanted, and was able to fix me up after a bad haircut a couple months ago. I wish I could find a barber like Megan in every city! Perfect cut, great conversation, and excellent all around experience. She also gave me the hotel towel treatment and a shoulder massage after the haircut and neck shave. But, having gotten my hair cut here 2 times (by Knux) - with the only instruction I could think of being "short on the sides, kinda short on the top", I still have ended up with the best 2 haircuts of my life! OUTSTANDING from top to bottom! I can't say enough great things about this business. Walking in everyone I passed gave me a warm welcome and said hi and walking out everyone told me thanks for coming and be well and it couldn't have felt more genuine. I had an appointment with Bea and she was fantastic. She really made me feel comfortable, took her time and was incredibly cool. Megan who works next to Bea offered some tips and was one of the nicest people I've ever met. They don't just cut your hair here, the level of care they take and passion they show about your look is something I haven't seem anywhere else. Professionalism off the charts. That being said it didn't feel like getting a haircut, it felt like hanging out with your friends who happen to be cutting your hair. The environment is amazing. The building is so cool, it's like a museum. All the employees look happy which to me means a lot, and you can see the rapport they all have with each other. It feels like a tight knit, family atmosphere. I don't know anyone here personally and have no stake in this place but after today I'll be a client as long as they're open. Exactly what you want in a Men's barbershop: Quality. Given that, appointments are highly recommended or expect a wait as there is only one walk-in barber. Saturday morning walk-in wait time was 3 hours, so I ran errands and returned. They have a pool table and arcade upstairs, you're welcome to free coffee or beer, and there's more than the latest issue of "Southern Living" to read while you while you wait. I went to get my haircut from Billy the Barber On the appointed day he was five minutes late Billy the Barber does mediocre work at best (see attached photos) and I only booked him because my usual barber was out He left me with a horrible haircut and insisted I fell asleep in the chair but again if you will take a look at the photos his work is average He began to speak to me disrespectfullly in front of other barbers and clients and insisted if I didn't like his work he would give me a refund or I could go elsewhere He cut himself during the job and implied I was to blame These haircuts are $45 each plus I normally tip $20 I expect a good haircut each and every time I have gone to Union for about a year without incident Save for Megan the Barber all other barbers Ive seen miss the mark Its vitally important to show clients the utmost respect and mind your bearings in all situations I did tip $20 on the way out to try to end it rightly but Billy the Barber literally snatched it out of my hand without a thank you So yes I did ask my bank to stop payment and did file a complaint with the other Union coowner I will never visit this place again read more

Union Barbershop is not your fathers barbershop. Or your girlfriend's. It's a barbershop for guys, and this becomes crystal clear almost immediately. It's a bit of a hipster joint, it don't hold that against them. They do a good job and will give you a stylish haircut for a fairly reasonable price. I got a straight razor shave here, they're one of the few places in the area that does that. Also, the take walk ins. In fact, they have one barber dedicated to servicing walk ins. If he's busy, that's cool, there's a pool table in the waiting area. Overall, here's my opinion of them. They're good. When I needed a straight razor shave and was trying to find a place to give me one just a day or two in advance, everybody told me no. These guys told me yes. Walked in to Union Barbershop for the first time today, and I will be going back. This is the kind of place you can head to if you're hip and cool, but kinda think your grand-uncle was too. There were four barbers around noon on a Thursday, the music was good, the mix of people coming through the door steady and eclectic, and the barbers are kind and professional. Something that did catch my attention was that the customers need to get with it. I offer this note to patrons: Union Barbershop is some 'you' time. Slow down. Chill out. Sure, every inch of this place is instagramable, but get off your phone - enjoy the people and the space. I'd suggest grabbing a drink (beer, liquor, soda, coffee, or water), head upstairs to the lounge and relax on that giant leather sofa, or play pinball or pool, or read a magazine - they'll come and get you in a bit. This place is a true gem. A friend and I came in without an appointment, they took our names said there will be a wait but while we wait we were offered fresh coffee, water or a beer.... It's 8:30 in the morning and I'm fairly hungover, OF COURSE I would love a beer while I wait! We took our drinks to the billiards room and played a set, then hung out shot the breeze. The vibe is so relaxing, had another beer and then our barbers were ready to see us. The men and women who are working the chairs are seriously talented at their craft. This isn't the sit down, clip you up and move on. She took her time with my hair and then asked what styling products I use, I don't, no worries, she explained some different techniques and products I can use and what to look for in stores if I want to start stepping up my look. She was meticulous and precise taking great care to cover ever last detail. I left feeling fresher and more crisp than I ever have from any hair stylist. I don't even know where to begin. I've patronized this establishment four times over the last six months, and every experience is somehow better than the last. Take today for example: I wake up after a long night of brewery hopping, lightly seasoned with some whiskey from an ionic red-capped, green bottle I keep around the house. In other words I felt, looked and probably smelled like trash. I desperately need a haircut. Picture the reanimated corpse of a 2 week expired Tom Hanks in a version of Castaway that ended a little more realistically than the actual 2000 Hollywood production. I walk into the shop. Immediately I am bombarded with cheerful greetings from this tatted up, gregarious gaggle of keratinized protein-sculpting motherfuckers. "What's up?!" "How's your day, man?!" "Check in in the back! We'll take care of you." I'm directed to the back of the shop where I'm offered a strong, fresh cup of Khaldi's coffee and put on the walk-in list. I head upstairs to wait my turn. My head pounds and I slowly die inside while I read a 1950's print of a book about the proper way to shave with a straight razor. Eventually, my name is called. I ask for a no-nonsense, no fuss haircut: a high skin fade, no hard part, and clean up what's left on top. This walk-in barber absolutely delivers on that request. The guy even notices how horrible I'm feeling and wraps up the cut with a hot towel over my face to - and these are his words - suck the hangover right out of me. I walked into this place a wretched, disheveled human being who just wanted to crawl into a cold, dark cave and die. I left an arresting, born-again embodiment of suave. My plans for the day now cancelled; I'm going back to the bar. The people need to see this shit. 11/10. Will go again. read more

Hey guys, I know this place is beloved. I was here once and loved my cut. Was there Tuesday for a walk in. I KNOW I KNOW ...... walk ins before a major Holiday - y'all get busy..... but I was in at 11:30 and no one acknowledged that the walk ins wait was going to be over 2 hours. I followed the rules on your wall and was very patient. You guys are all cool, but I think it would be customary to tell your walk ins what the actual ETA is, and not just say, "There's 2 people in front of you in line." I think it's a fair ask and just respectful of our time. Offering beer and coffee and a billiard upstairs are all good, that's just ambiance and props- but it's different to actually check in with your customers and at least say, "Yo we're gonna be tied up for about another 2 hours, if you're OK with that." That's all. Anyway, I enjoyed the free coffee. At least I got some work emails done while waiting 1:50 mins before I decided I'm cool getting a haircut at my usual barber. Cheers read more

Took a miller highlife and brought my little girl so she took a sprite. Once checked in we went up stairs to the lounge. They got a pool table, arcades, and other games to play while you wait. This place is awesome, I don't know why I never gave a barbershop a try before. I'm very particular about my hair, I know my blades, I know what I want, and I don't want small talk. This is very much a guys place, great music, beers if you want it, awesome atmosphere. Justin (Knux) cut my hair for the first time a few weeks ago, it was the greatest thing ever. Having my hair cut with a straight razor over a blade was not only refreshing, the cut was so much better and didn't leave me to come back sooner.
