Weird place...cats EVERYWHERE. Seriously. I went for a wax with April and there were 4 cats just cruising around all over the salon. Cat hair everywhere. Kinda gross. The place is really cramped and VERY eclectic. April did a so-so job, not great by any means. No way I'm going back; something tells me it may just be against health codes to have animals everywhere....just saying. Uh, OK, owner lady. The place is gross, and I'm clearly not the only Yelper to feel the same. Maybe I should look into the health codes for salons in Colorado...pretty sure cats, litter boxes, cat hair is pretty frowned upon. It is filthy, I'm sorry. I only gave this place 2 stars because I felt badly about rating it what it really deserved. Clean-up your business and maybe, just maybe, the health dept won't close you down. read more

This salon is horrible. There were cats everywhere, dirty, completely gross! I went because I was going to redeem a living social deal for eyelash extensions. The woman was suppose to do a fill but when i came out I looked like I had used way too much black mascara and the extensions were clumping together. I immediately had to go to Live Love Lashes the same day to get them completely taken off and redone. There was no way I could go in public with them looking like that. This salon is not recommended and should be closed for sanitary purposes. Cats do not belong in a Salon period! Do not risk it - its cheap for a reason!!!! You get what you pay for... read more

I have been getting my hair done by Mandi for about 20 years (OMIGOD am I that old now?) Mandi is a master colorist. I am always happy with the color, cut and style I leave with. I have gotten to feel at home when I go to the Cutting Edge. Mandi and Joyce are great people who do not have a "Cherry Creek attitude." After reading Vee O's review I had to respond....I also had a Groupon with Nina and had a wonderful experience. I have a very hard time believing Nina would "belittle" anyone..Just not her personality! I found her to be very kind - someone who takes the time to find out exactly - what you are trying to achieve.. Yes, there is one cat..no hair and no cat odor.. I have since been back 3 times and sent my friends as well. Came in for lash extensions with April and I LOVE THEM! I've been to other places before but stopped going since I did not like how they turned out at all. Came in for the first time and April did a fantastic job! The synthetic lashes she used were exquisite as well, definetly better quality than the other location I went to and the lashes just turned out to be amazing. Her work is trully worth it! read more

Joyce just did an incredible job with my color last night! I had my hair highlighted last week by another stylist at another salon and it was a shambles. The highlights were sloppy and did not start at the roots, so they already looked grown out. The color was a poor choice for my face and it made my hair look and feel fried. I called Joyce and she did more than fix them, she made my hair gorgeous! She created a fabulous color and I am thrilled!!! Joyce took the time to listen to me. We spent a good amount of time talking about my hair, what I like and don't like, what my expectations are, etc. I was really impressed that she cared enough to learn more about me and my hair and what I'm looking for. I like the salon very much. It is VERY conveniently located on 6th Avenue with plenty of parking. The salon has a warm, laid-back vibe. I felt very relaxed and at home there. I can't wait to go back. Joyce is so wonderful. She is very easy going and really cares about her clients. I've known her personally for a short while and I am so glad I picked up the phone and made an appointment with her. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long! I also met Mandi and saw her do a gorgeous color and a stunning hair style on one of her clients. One thing I notice about both Joyce and Mandi is that they do not rush their work, which I find very impressive. I have gone to salons where I am rushed through as in a restaurant where tables need to turn over quickly, and I am not a fan of this type of salon. I find Joyce and Mandi's approach very refreshing and very professional. This is the most amazing salon ever. Nina is a hair genius with not only me but my husband and others we have recommended to her. What I love the most is these women can set an 80 year old ladies hair and then give you a cutting edge half buzzed purple do that blows people minds. Rude and unprofessional. It may have been due to the fact that I booked a last minute appointment or that I used a groupon but I dont recommend you see nina. I was belittled the whole time I was there in front of another customer and a colorist. I was spoken in a condescending tone and furthermore ignored the entire time while she chatted with them. I have since found a MUCH better salon and urge other fellow yelpers to save your money and go elsewhere. On a side note the salon is atrocious cat hair everywhere and clumps on just the chairs where customers SIT and cats running around. Just plain disturbing. read more

I'm a guy and Joyce has been cutting my hair for over 20 years. I have followed her to each of her 3 locations over that time. She always starts off with a shampoo and then cuts my hair to perfection. Then she uses the blow dryer and hair spray to get it just right. She even used to trim my eyebrows before I decided to start doing them at home myself. I always leave looking like I'm ready for GQ magazine. Thanks Joyce! She does have 1 cat there which adds to the eclectic feeling but luckily I'm not allergic to them. read more

When I first moved to Denver 7 years ago, I had to find a new stylist. A friend recommended Mandi. I went and I never needed to try another. If you know exactly what you want she will try hard to do that if it's in the realm of possibility. (I mean, come on. I hear people all the time telling stylists, "Make me look like Jennifer Anniston!" Whatever. Some folks just don't realize that no matter what you do to their hair, they will NEVER look like Jennifer Anniston!!!) Anyway, I digress-back to Mandi. She's the bomb! Sometimes I would go in and say, "I don't know, let's do something new and crazy!" So we would, and it would rock! She's fantastic with coloring, cutting and I've had two of the most beautiful up do's in my entire life done by her. It's a fun, upbeat salon that won't let you down and I'm continually getting compliments! Unfortunately, I recently moved across country and am sadly having to go to someone else. Still trying to figure out a way to either afford to fly back every 6 weeks to see Mandi, or have her move out to D.C.!!! read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for 3 brazilian waxes from April at the Cutting Edge Salon. I wish I had only purchased one because I was not satisfied with the outcome at all. I have been waxing for years and have never had a problem with complete hair removal, however, this service failed to remove most of my hair. I am blond and I do have fine hair, but I've never had an issue in the past at any of the salons I've been to. Several sections needed to be re-waxed, leaving my skin red and irritated. I've also had to pluck out most of the remaining hair because, despite her efforts, the waxing was inefficient. I'm a very easy-going client and I tip well when I'm satisfied with the service, and I still tipped well only because she took so much time to re-wax me. I also believe that she had some trouble seeing my hair, which is a problem. I would not recommend this salon for brazilian wax services. read more

If you are looking for someone that listens and takes their time, go to Nina. She has been working on my hair for years. She is the only one that knows how to work with my hair texture, thick and wavy. I have tried others and always come back to her. She is not afraid to experiment and does not try and talk you out of something, I hate that. But she is also honest and will give you her opinion, which I love. My review is for the waxing service only. This was one of the worst waxing experience I've ever had. I would never, ever recommend April for waxes! I have been waxing for years and this was hands down my worst experience, especially from someone who claimed she has been in this business for 15 years. She seemed inpatient, rude, and irritated that she couldn't get all the hair off. I've never had this problem at other salons and I didn't like her waxing technique, it was sloppy. She had to go back many times leaving my skin a bumpy, red mess. When I got home I noticed she didn't even get all the hair off and it was all patchy. TERRIBLE! read more
