I met with Mandee for a consultation after walking in with highlights that was making me look like I transported here straight from 2006. A few weeks earlier, I went to a "local balayage specialist" but they gave me highlights instead of balayage, and I couldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror. Mandee did a great job talking me through what we could do to fix my hair, and it sounded perfect. Jess is a hair magician. I have white/silver hair (read: high maintenance) and I was struggling with my shadow root situation, obviously, as you can see in my before picture. Jess took me from a dingy white with a warm shadow root to PERFECT silver hair with a baby cool-toned shadow root and it's so beautiful I feel like I could be mistaken for one of those fabulous bloggers who is somehow always traveling on Instagram. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!! Complete and utter waste of time. Would give 0 stars if I could. Just had the absolute worst and most bizarre salon experience of my life. I made an appointment for a full highlight and cut on my medium/dark brunette hair. A pretty simple request, you'd think, and I was SO looking forward to it. When I got there, Kayla effectively turned me away within 5 minutes of introducing herself. After scoping my inspiration photos (basic highlights on brunette hair), she told me my hair would be various shades of orange when I left and that I wouldn't like the result. That doesn't instill a lot of confidence, but I tried to explain that I've had highlights and balayage several times before (over box dye) and other stylists have had no problem achieving a brighter result and simply had to use a toner to get a caramel color. I don't know if she had plans this afternoon and needed to split, or what, but there was no offering to try, offering to trim my hair (which I was also there for) or offering an alternative (all over lighter brunette to even things out?) I felt like she was impatiently waiting for me to get out of her chair and out of the salon. Appreciate the hospitality, Kayla and Birch Salon. I'm pregnant, my mom just died, I'm traveling next week for work and all I wanted today was to leave with a trim and some highlights. Seems like I dodged a bullet, though. If you're reading this before booking... check out Arrow Beauty instead!!! They'll welcome you with open arms and get you some non-orange highlights in one sitting. Ariel at Arrow is super talented. This salon is pretty awesome. As a brunette it has always been extremely hard to find a stylist confident in putting blonde balayage on my hair and Amanda exceeded my expectations. Amanda was super friendly and easy to talk to and the salon was clean and easy to find. I will warn it is street parking so give yourself some extra time for parking. I would have given 0 stars if I could. I rarely post any reviews, but the experience I had or rather not had with Amanda is very very unprofessional. I'm not really sure what happened, but when I showed up for my highlights appointment today I was told Amanda had already left home sick and that she called me. First of all, no one has called me. Secondly, I've received at least 3 reminders that this appointment is on and my CC got even charged for authorization. I made this appointment a month ago and was excited to find someone who uses Kevin Murphy. Moreover, I'm having professional headshots taken on Wednesday and my hair is a mess. I probably should have trusted the signs--after I made the apt, I tried adding a haircut. I called at least 3 times in 4 weeks, and sent emails via Amanda's website, but no response. I found Birch through a Localfluence offer and usually I take the discounted service and don't return, but I've now been back three times to see Jess. She has gotten my hair in great shape for my upcoming wedding and is just a joy to be in the chair with. So far I've done cuts, Olaplex treatments, and a Brazilian blowout (worth the $$ let me tell you!) and will be back for some balayage soon. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I had a bad experience here personally and my hair looked bad. I asked for a minor fix to be made (re-tone) and instead of helping the owner banned me from the salon. The owner has worked to remove my reviews from other sites and since she can't do that here she's tried to discredit me by saying I only have terrible salon reviews. I have more 5 star reviews than any other category! If she had spent as much time fixing my hair as she has sifting through my reviews and deleting my others she would have had a customer for life. One of my friends referred me to Amanda at Birch salon. I'm very picky about who I trust with my hair and Amanda was simple amazing! I decided to go with some caramel blonde highlights. My hair is dark so I know it's a hard color to achieve but she got it right on her first attempt. I've been trying to get this color with the last three hair appointments I've had. I don't like my hair brassy and that's how it usually turns out and they will have to tone it down twice before the right color sets in. I was super excited to see my hair when Amanda was coloring it because even when it was wet, I could tell she got the color right! When it dried I was almost scared to look because I thought it was going to be too good to be true. After unveiling my new hair I was so excited! Amanda is a true pro with color and cut.
