This fact has helped local supporters note that the NE Ohio/Greater Cleveland area has one of the largest and most comprehensive public library systems in the nation. (Now if only the County could get every denizen to really educate himself -- and create some sort of brain bubble in the region. Just a wish.) This is a review of the Beachwood city branch, a small yet nicely remodeled facility. There are great nonfiction and children's sections; however, the fiction selection is a bit lacking. The Saul Eisen Reading Garden offers a tranquil, secluded reading space. For research projects, one might be better served at the Mayfield and South Euclid city branches (the latter is set in an exquisite old local castle-esque building). All of the branches -- east and west -- afford the opportunity to find a quiet place to get lost in a great piece of literature and/or media. Grade: A

Starbucks gets too rowdy after about 8:30 AM, and as a transplant I was at a loss as to where I should go to study. A friend suggested this branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. I can't vouch for the selection of books or the services they offer, but as a quiet study environment, this place is great! There are plenty of plugs for your computer (yay!) at each work station, so you don't have to bring an extension cord or awkwardly drape anything over your neighbor just for a hookup. My only beef was that the quiet cubbies were along the perimeter of the main room, which meant that it did get a little louder as the day went on. In any case, it beats the 'bucks, and helped me get my morning off to a productive start!

I asked the info librarians who sit at a station in the middle of the room about it. You don't have to bring any puzzles, or like me, I brought seven puzzles and took seven home. There are puzzles for all ages, tho mostly adult type puzzles. Kids puzzle are welcomed. I enjoyed looking at all of them and chatting with a few people doing the same.

This was my first return to this branch in a few years…read more Lots of improvements and it looks bright and welcoming. The staff was very nice. I was there for an authors event with local author Courtney Hauser in the meeting room. Afterwards I asked Tony, the manager to kindly give me a tour. He was very enthusiastic about what the library had to offer and showed me the different areas of concentration. He mentioned recent improvements and also soon to be upgrades. Areas of opportunity: I think the restroom should be wheelchair accessible. Also able to be opened without touching the pull down handle. People with dexterity issues may have a hard time opening the restroom door because I had to pull hard. I will definitely return.

The wifi is free and available all through the building. They have a wonderful children's section which has loads of DVD's, toys, activities and fun activities of all youth ages. They rotate the books throughout the seasons so there is always something available and interesting for children. They have a great adult section which has a wide variety of books, magazines, computers and sitting area. They can quickly order any other book you might want to order from the larger branch. This branch has a convent book drop and pick up area. Since it's during COVID there outdoor picnic area is available if you want to hang out side. The parking lot has a few pot holes so watch out.
