Such a pleasant surprise to find this gem inside Harveys resort. Jerry, who I think is the owner, was one of the most helpful people I'd ever encountered in Lake Tahoe. First, his ski/snowboard rentals are waaay better priced than the other stores near the Heavenly arcade, and because you can walk the underground tunnel to the other side, it's an easy trek. to the gondolas once you have your equipment. Plus, you can come in after 2pm, the day before you actually go skiing, and rent and do all the admin ahead of time, so you can save a ton of time to ski the following day. I absolutely loved this! Second, he was incredibly informative about the various slope options throughout the city. He did say that Heavenly is a must-try for all newcomers, because that's the thing to do in South Lake Tahoe, but he did point out the many other places to go for a much better value that the premium charged at Heavenly. Third, his ski apparel and accessories, while limited, are of fantastic quality, and offer both high-end and value items. I picked up a Spyder layer, while the family picked up extra gloves. A short drive from Heavenly, this is a much more affordable option than Powder House. We checked out both rental places and the prices at CV Sports are about half those of Powder House. The guy helping us was friendly and our kids are learning to ski, so we didn't need anything fancy. We had already bought Heavenly lift tickets, but he had free vouchers for Sierra At Tahoe, which is significantly cheaper (about 1/2 to 1/3 the price) of Heavenly. We will definitely keep it in mind for next time we go to Tahoe. read more

Our family of 4 showed up and were immediately helped by Arthur and Diego. The process was seamless. We had perfect service and all the equipment was set up correctly as we never had issues on the slopes. Arthur assisted us when we returned all the gear and again had zero problems. Worst experience. I came and asked when are they closing so we could came in the evening and rent for next week. We came 2 (!) Hours before the time they told us. The lady on counter said she don't want to deal with our rental tonight as she tired and we should come in the morning. And all that in quite rood words. I objected that they are open too late so I will not be able to find a parking on resort after, but she only laughed at me and said she don't care and it's only her way or no way... Way to go dudes ! Inexpensive, knowledgeable and so handy to Stagecoach and Boulder. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are the best deal in town, and sometimes get a little crowded. Avoid rush hour by grabbing your gear after 2PM the day before or ask for a season rental. read more

Terrible experience- probably the worst ever. The girl who was working was super nice. But there was a guy working there who was so incredibly rude and dismissive I was blown away. He said if he needed to repeat anything we would need to get out of the store. I have trouble hearing due to a blown ear drum And asked if I needed to fill out the security deposit part. The guy literally picked up my papers, threw them at me and said get the F*** out of my store!!!! In addition he said, I hate dealing with you tourists that don't listen to simple instructions!! Ummm buddy, your business is renting skis to tourists- not regular day to day skiers. I was so shocked and my son who is 9 started crying. I really thought it was a joke at first but then he started throwing things around the store yelling and we bolted out of there. The girl was super apologetic and was trying to get the owner on the phone... I felt bad for her. Note to this employee- YOU WORK FOR TOURISTS!!! You have no business without tourists. My first time renting any gear for snowboarding, and I had the most awful experience. This location was recommended to us by a local friend to save a few dollars, but never again. I arrived a little after Noon where the staff did not acknowledge me when I arrived and soon after was instructed to fill out a form. We completed our forms and staff proceeded to help two other customers that had come after me. A simple hello goes a long way. Not to mention that my party and I were ready to go with our paperwork. Almost got skipped AGAIN. When returning the equipment the woman was 15mins late from a 2hr break and completely rude to then let me know that I was out of control--for saying that I had arrived prior to my rental check out time. If you're looking for something cheap and fast? Sure why not? If you're looking for actual customer service? Skip this place. read more

Great experience here! We didn't end up using the equipment because of bad weather conditions and we were expecting to take a loss. So we were really bummed overall. However, the guys at the shop were super understanding and accommodating and only charged us for the fitting fee! Yay yay! CV sports rents snow boards small enough for my 2.5 year old. They don't make boots that small though so you'll need to have your own super sturdy snow boots. I believe the smallest snow board boot is an 11. For $25, you can rent an 80cm Burton board, boots and bindings... and they have $20 specials on some adult gear rentals, I think. CV Sports is located on the way up to Heavenly Summit, by Fox and Hound BBQ and the Tramway Market. The guys there are pretty friendly and helpful. I'd definitely rent from them again on our next trip. See ya there! read more

We showed up at 5 (after calling ahead) to pick up rental gear. Didn't seem unreasonable since they're advertised to close at 5:30. When we asked for help, and if they gave a military discount, the women behind the register exploded. She refused to help us. When we asked if we could take some rental forms to fill out and save time for tomorrow, she threatened to have the bouncers in the bar next door physically eject us (while screaming profanely at us) from the premises. If you're active duty, a veteran, or just want to be treated with respect do not try to do business at CV Sports. Apparently, they don't want it. read more

This is a great little ski/snowboard rental shop. I've had a home on the mountain for 30 years and I always point my family and friends and folks who rent my home for vacations to CV. Chelsea and James have taken over and are friendly and knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. When my son's bindings were wonky (we had purchased from CV several years ago), Chelsea jumped right in and helped us out! Great prices for rentals and great shop--super convenient for Heavenly Nevada folks. read more

Overall great service and pricing is pretty straight forward. Equipment insurance is pretty cheap so it's a no brainer. The snowboarding boots are pretty worn and feel like they lack insoles. The boards work for what they are but the tops of them are mostly scratched and coming off. Great utility for the price but equipment lacking in quality. We saw this place while heading to our time share near south lake of Kingsbury. The sign said rentals were only $20/day so we had to rent here for my boyfriend's little sister since she doesn't have her own set yet. We luckily got here fairly early, around 9:30. There were two groups in front of us but after we walked in about three more groups came in all needing rentals. They have snowboarding and skiing options for rent as well as snow jackets, pants and helmets. The packages are great as their only $20 a day. It's a great deal. My problem with this place is that they only had two people working during peak season. There were probably 20 people needing rentals and only two people working. It literally took an hour just to get rentals out the door. They really just need to add extra workers but I think they don't care b/c everyone's going to come since it's only $20. Which is true, but still an inconvenience. Overall, cheap rentals but if you're low on time and it's peak season, don't come here b/c it'll take a while. read more

Such a bad experience! First off, they were closing 2 hours before there site said they would. Only one woman was working and when we walked in, the first thing we heard was her yelling at a costumer on the phone. Once she hung up, she turned to us and just raised her eyebrows. I let her know that we wanted to rent boards. She immediately raised her voice at me about how they were closing and she was the only one working. She continued yelling at me as I was trying to walk out of the door. I kept saying, "I completely understand" using my nice voice, but it only seemed to anger her. Never going back. read more

If I could, I would leave zero stars. Last month, I bought a coat at location in Harvey's. I was told that if I brought it back with tags still on, they would refund me. Later that night when I tried to return it as I was leaving Tahoe. The power was out and the worker told to come back in the morning. I explained that I was leaving town and I lived 5 hours away. In a tone, she basically told I was shit out of luck. I have tried calling and left a few messages. Never got a call back. I will never come back. read more

We came in yesterday to rent some equipment. Two were skiing and I was snowboarding. What an awesome and helpful staff! We didn't know what we were doing since it was our first time and they took the time to help us out and explain everything. Prices were good and felt fair. Very friendly and welcoming staff and good equipment. And the boulder lodge is literally right there so it's a super convenient location!! Will definitely be back next time we're in Tahoe. read more

Probably the worst experience I have encountered at Harrahs. We stopped by with my younger brother, my cousin and my dad in looks for some snow pants for my 10 year old brother. My cousin decided to sit down at one of the many many chairs (maybe 10) they have near the rentals. The only guy working there came up to him and told him to move because he was going to need the chairs for "boot fittings" when we were the only ones in the store at this time.His attitude towards us was very condescending as he would follow us around the store im guess probably thinking we were going to steal. A couple more customers came in for rentals and we were just browsing waiting for him to be done with them so we could check out. We were in no rush and had no problem waiting. They guy comes u to my dad and asks, "are you going to keep browsing or actually going to shop" I would hate to say it's because the color of our skin, and that it was just a rude encounter but, given the fact that everyone else in the store that came in afterwards were White, and the person working there was being super friendly to them it's hard to say it wasn't. This place was perhaps the worse rental place I have ever been. There were 13 of us (3 different families )in Lake Tahoe for a week. Six kids and 7 adults. We walked to the store wanting to explore options. The impatient manager, Jason, was extremely unhelpful, rude, and could not wait to get us out of the store. We asked for the name of the owner so we can call him or her and explain how out of touch the staff is with customer service. Jason would refuse to provide the phone number. I hope the owner reads my review. It takes a certain level of maturity and patience to be a manger. The only reason we went to this location of the approximate distance to our resort. Really bad service, really disrespectful, and refused to give us service. Really bad employees. I recommend you look for some place else.

Prices seemed like a better than expected deal compared to others, but the quality of the boots and skis for our family of 3 did not make it worth the savings unfortunately. We opted for the upgraded package instead of the beginner option and were talked out of the highest level demo gear as they told us the ski conditions did not warrant that price point this week. My husband and I are avid skiers that chose not to haul our gear up this trip, but the blisters, bruises and sore ankle bones from the boots made us miserable. Since there was a lot of ice this week due to the low snow levels the skis unfortunately were not set up with the proper edging as the edges seemed very dull. I guess the biggest disappointment was the lack of caring when we returned the gear and politely suggested they may want to check the boot buckles that may need lubrication or adjustments as it was near impossible to get the boots on and off each day and then we mentioned the potential benefit of sharpening the edges. Our response was "how are you paying for this?". Sad to hear our suggestions went on deaf ears. Would NOT recommend this place read more

Amazing place to rent your skis and boards. We rented from the shop at Harveys and the service was amazing. Great prices and super quick walk to the Heavenly Gondola. We decided to check them out because of lower prices on ski and board rentals. However, once inside the store it was obvious that the workers in this shop were not motivated to do any kind of work whatsoever. My husband went inside to make sure they were still doing rentals at 4:30 for the following day. He said yes and to send me inside to get sized. I went into the store 30 seconds after he left and they tell me it's too late! I explain to them that my husband was literally just in the store and told him it was fine. The guy smiles and says sorry. We leave and as we get the kids settled back into the car the guys inside stand there and stare out the window. Apparently, they were busy dreaming of being somewhere other than at work. read more
