She instead recommended I do the YonKa dry skin facial which is actually cheaper than what I originally booked. I love that she picked what would be best for my skin without trying to upsell a more expensive facial. I'm not well versed in skin care so I really liked that Kayelyn walked me through everything she was doing and the reasons why. Most times you just lay there in silence and while I do like sometimes to just relax and fall asleep, I really appreciated the skin care education and I was still able to relax as well. But I feel like I have a better idea of what my skin needs and how I can achieve it. The only reason I'm rating this 4.5/5 stars is because I normally like some lip care during my facials and this was lacking that. I really liked the essential oil toner she used and ended up purchasing it afterwards. The scent is heavenly and made my skin feel great. I normally don't purchase skin care products after my facials but I really liked the YonKa brand products she used on my face. Through my experience here, I have been turned on to Yonka products and they are unbelievably effective. I have been using them for about 2 months and my skin has never looked brighter or healthier. Parking can be a little limited if looking for free, but there's 2 paid public parking lots on the other side of the railroad tracks which is only a short walk away. They had a walk-in that ran late so the room I was going to be was occupied so I had to wait about 15mins past my appointment time, but the receptionist was kind. There's a room that's in the lobby area, which was mine and I was nervous about how loud it would be because there was also work being done on the railroad tracks which are right next to the building. They quickly turned over the sheets when the appointment before me was over. The overall massage was good, Vincent had different techniques than what I was used to that helped with my trigger points. I'm not sure if he ran out of time though or if this was just his style but he didn't massage my arms or neck area when I was laying on my back. He did spend a long time on my back though which was helpful because that's where most of my tension was. I also liked that he didn't do the exact same thing on each side, it felt truly customized to where my tension was and what my body needed. He used hot towels too, which were a nice touch to help relax my muscles. He also provided me some neck stretches I can do to help release tension. I wish I could remember the woman's name to recommend her to everyone. She listened to my requests which doesn't always happen and she got into places I always wanted but no one hit them. I went back the next week for a custom facial, it was lovely. I had never had a facial before so I was given a brief overview of the process. We had good conversation during the facial and my skin felt great afterwords. I highly recommend this place! I'll be back next week

It's hard to get used to when I've had the exact opposite experience at my hometown Aveda in La Jolla, California and my go-to Aveda hairdressers in downtown San Francisco and Washington, D.C.. And it's one of the many reasons this native Californian is utterly relieved to be leaving Cville for Washington, D.C.
