Visited brow house a handful of weeks before COVID-19 shut businesses like this one down. I went early on a Saturday evening and I was the only client in at the time, only one esthetician working; understandably Saturday evening isn't the most popular time. It was easy to book an appt on their website and I was sent a reminder and also given friendly service when I called in with questions about my appt. I was greeted warmly upon entering, and the whole appt went smoothly with Ruby. I was there for a Brazilian and was almost 9 months pregnant, so pleasant isn't probably the word to describe things, but Ruby did a great job. The place is super cute and the rooms are nice and cozy, clean and calming. They don't feel sterile and cold but you can tell they're taking all the right sanitary measures. I will definitely revisit for that and other services once they reopen! read more

Honestly the worst Brazilian I have ever gotten. She rushed through the entire process, left patches of hairs and stubble untouched, never offered me the opportunity to look it over after the wax (every place I have been to before as given me a mirror to correct where I wanted more waxing or tweezing), did nothing/provided no tips for aftercare or to reduce bumps. There is bruising all over the area as well. Basically spent a bunch of money to do a job I could have done just as well at home, and has ruined the purpose of the brazilian since now my bikini line is covered in spots and bruises. Also got a lash lift which was overall good, but definitely uneven in terms of curl, so my lashes look extremely dissimilar to each other. They provided spoolies to care for lashes afterward, but unlike any other place I've heard of or read reviews of, gave no substantive tips for maintenance nor did they offer any conditioning serum. This place seems great, but to be quite honest, there are many better salons or waxing places in Charlottesville. read more

I made my appointment for a Brazilian wax with her and she did not disappoint. She was patient throughout the whole process. Her spirit was welcoming and kind. If there was an ultimate reason why I was on yelp, it had to be the search for the best place to groom my eyebrows. I tried everything-- tweezing (throwback to the thin-brow trend back in the '90s), threading (hello, Bollywood) and stencils (Anastasia?), but none really worked the long term when it comes to achieving that youthful-looking, natural eyebrows I was born with. Fast forward to 2-3 years later, and with some extreme patience, my full brows are back! But with full brows, I came out looking like Groucho Marx! I absolutely LOVE my Brazilians. I had my first Brazilian with Tiffany, but she moved. Then i started getting them from Athena.... Athena is my girl! She is very professional and makes you very comfortable. The first Brazilian is a little pricier, BUT COMPLETELY WORTH IT. Their Brazilian up-keep prices are cheaper. They're super affordable and I come RELIGIOUSLY for my upkeep Put it like this.... I have a bunch of wax passes at European Wax center, but I still come to The Brow House ---------- This place is a hidden gem. It's tucked away behind Kardinal Hall. There was plenty of parking which was great. It did take me a minute to find the place because it really is hidden in the back. It's right next door to The Juice Laundry (which was also good by the way). I came in for a brow service, and my first ever Brazilian. Tiffany was my esthetician. When I first walked in the place was small, clean and comfortable. The space was well kept and chic I checked in and waited all of 15 seconds before I was called back for my appointment. My esthetician was Tiffany. She was friendly, and made the process comfortable for me. It wasn't painful, and I didn't get the discomfort afterwards. Just moved to Charlottesville and had to find a new eyebrow place. It's hard trusting someone new with your brows, but Ruby was AMAZING and was so sweet! And my name means ruby, so I know it was meant to be ;) I will definitely be returning! I've been here several more times since I moved here in June, and still love it! This place is the epitome of professionalism. The facility is clean, wonderfully decorated and staff friendly. Brooke is very knowledgeable about waxing and skincare. She makes sure her staff is trained to her standards. I had services done by Brooke, Kimberly and Ruby and was pleased every time. I get a regular Brazilian somewhere else, I could have gotten my brows waxed for much cheaper at the same place, but eyebrows are kind of a big deal. I wouldn't trust anybody but Brook and her staff with my brows. If I moved to NoVA, I'd still drive down here to get my eyebrows done once a month- no joke. PS: Ruby is an artist when it comes to shaping my brows, making them bold and beautiful. She takes the time to tweeze my brows instead of waxing when I'm using retin-A. So good! 1. I saw Elizabeth Trevor, and she took such good care of me. I have been getting my brows waxed forever but I've never found it to be a Luxury Experience-- until today. Let me preface this by saying I don't like yelp. It is stupid. Make your own opinions - the customer is not always right!. But yelp is good for when you really think someone is exceptionally great or if they like, idk stabbed you or something. And this is the former! There's no in between! I was sooooo nervous to get my first brazilian. I told Athena I was worried and she definitely took the time to make me extra comfortable, but still did it quickly and efficiently. It took less than ten minutes and I had very little skin irritation even for my first time! I also picked up their "deck polish" balm to keep redness down and that helped a lot too. Loved it! I will get the bad part out of the way first: I am moving in May and won't be able to keep coming here any longer. The good part is everything else. The space is clean and inviting, Brooke is super friendly and fun to talk to, and she does an excellent job waxing and shaping brows. I am super picky about my brows and had been scheduling brow waxes for whenever I was back home for the first two years I was in Cville for law school, so it's a huge relief to finally be able to get them done in Cville! For a few years before going to the Brow House, my brows had slowly evolved into an unshapely mess by a number of waxers, threaders, and pluckers. Out of frustration, I decided to stop getting my eyebrows down for nearly a year, to help them grow back in, but that led to an even worse mess. After years of frustration, needed an expert who could help me shape and grow my brows back. A quick google search led me to this place. I thought it was a bit pricey, but I was willing to try anything. In my first appointment, my beautician spent a few minutes talking to me (and listening to me vent) about what was going on with my eyebrows, but was so positive and helpful about how she was going to help me fix them. After even that first appointment, my eyebrows look cleaned up and had shape to them. About a year later, my eyebrows are still growing back into shape, but they are leaps and bounds better than they were before. I am SO happy with the way they look. The ladies here and nothing short of delightful. I have worked with 3-4 of the different beauticians and all of them have done stand-up work and are extremely positive and helpful. I have a lot of confidence in them, because I have never left here unhappy. Yes, the price is a little steeper than the cheap $10 wax places, but it is 100% worth the price plus generous tip given the professional and personal care they provide.
